THE TURNING (2020) Ending Explained

In The Turning, a modern adaptation of The Turn of the Screw, a governess takes a job looking after two siblings, and starts to believe something sinister has attached to them. Or is it all in her mind? Breaking down the "ending" and what I think it was supposed to mean, as well as the unused original ending, and comparing to the novella's ending.

Literally same great movie suddenly I was getting confused with it and I was intrigued to know what happened next but it just ended.
Why are there so many youtubers ik here
I read this theory that says that the whole movie takes place in Kate's head, like a re-imagining of something tragic that happened to her. Her tattoo is a snake eating itself, which is a symbolism of Kate's madness.
The article explains that Kate IS Ms. Jessel (the former nanny). She worked at Bly Manor and was charged to raise Miles and Flora, but she was afraid of Quint who was a creepy pervert and one night, when she tried to escape, he sexually assaulted her. She fled the manor and abandoned the children, and she went insane because of the trauma and her regret over leaving the children. She was taken to an asylum, and the movie is Kate in her head living out the life that she should have had, the path that she should have taken in which she saved the children and escaped with them from the clutches of Quint.
There are a lot of things that proves that Kate is Ms. Jessel. First, Kate always sees Ms. Jessel through a reflective surface (window, mirror, etc...). In Kate's fantasy, things are perfect and Quint is dead, BUT, due to her subconscious, Quint keeps creeping in at several points as a ghost and througt Miles who is actually a manifestation of Quint. Miles wears the same clothes as Quint and rides a black horse juste like him. Besides, the first time Kate sees the ghost of Quint is when he is walking into Miles' bedroom. Miles also almost forces himself on Kate at one point and kisses her, which would be a symbolism of the sexual assault that Quint carried out on Jessel. At one point in the movie, Kate believes she is being attacked by the ghostly hands of Quint, which could be a flashback of her past sexual assault.
At the end of the movie, she returns to reality where she is back at the asylum, and when her mother or rather Kate turns around, she sees her own face, and this is why she screams.
A.A.Rooble K. This actually makes so much more sense than anything else I have ever seen
A.A.Rooble K. Thanks for explaining because I was so confused.
I agree with this totally. Also, remember in the beginning of the movie Kate was told she was just watching a little girl. Miles was not mentioned and she didnt find out about him until she showed up at the mansion. I have to watch it again, from this angle, and see if it makes more sense.

Ok so imagine the movie the Turning is like an English writing assignment that you’re given and they say you can write about whatever you want. You’re excited and start writing a good story. You progressively wrote more and more of the story as you’re excited, ready for a great ending. One day you forget to work on the assignment. Atmosphere maybe. But Wolfhard's performance was utter garbage. That kid can't act.
Theau yes he can lol
Theau you know how many people you just insulted?,he participated in the new ghost-busters,that hasn’t even been released yet, and his performance is phenomenal, and stranger things.he was the bests actor in stranger things by far. He genuinely showed genuine emotion, well not in this movie, stranger things yes. Performance just perfection, and it made everyone fan boy about him, because when Millie bobby brown left him in the series,he felt genuine infuriation and sadness as everyone’s eye’s can see, his performance here is just him being tedious and infuriating..
Edit:also this is the first time he’s ever genuinely acted in a horror movie, and this movie for me wasn’t totally utterly underwhelming, it didn’t make sense, but phenomenal actor’s,phenomenal acting, and just bad movie, bad concept, bad ending. If this movie had another concept I would be baffled.
And also Finn Wolfhard doesn’t deserve this.
Edit: GhostBusters is a genuine horror movie, but it’s like horror for children, this is his first genuine horror movie, and also in IT he only faced the Clown like two times LOL,and also, you may assume his acting is bad here, but no, he needed to be bizarre, outstanding, and he was, by being utterly infuriating..
@@Theauu dont be rude JEEZ
Aaliyah Thedford not really, he’s gotten several good roles for being almost an adult child, in GhostBusters he’s a main actor, and his role was impeccable and his acting was even better. But I agree with you, if he was an adult he could’ve gotten several other film roles and maybe even oscars.
My interpretation was that it was a blend of her broken mind and reality. I think her mom might be schizophrenic and the cruel pranks the kids did basically activated it in her. With the old creepy house making noises combined with the lesson plan she was reading, her mind created the illusions of ghosts.
Also, just a fun note. Her hair starts out perfectly straight but as we progress through the movie, it gets further and further disheveled. It’s like a metaphor for her mental state. I also think her neck tattoo is *supposed* to mean something but not sure what. It’s of an Ouroboros which is supposed to represent infinity or wholeness but it could not mean anything in this movie too.
PA0PU I agree
So in summary, this movie is all over the facken place.
FIFA Lords & Legends - Yes 😂
PA0PU the snake or some call it dragon eating it’s own tail means life and death. Also known as cycle of life or rebirth.
An maybe that could all be connected to the movie since Quinn complemented her for her tattoo saying it was sexy as miles implied from his “special friend”
For a little bit I thought maybe they were all ghosts and she was gonna find out a sad and tragic end. But maybe it symbolized the start of a new beginning for that family or life after death 🤷🏻♀️
Dakota Jones - Google search lied to me. Lol. But maybe. Wish they referenced the tattoo more or something.
When the movie goes back to Kate looking at the pictures after just leaving, the old lady says "you cant escape the inevitable" which mean you can escape what's meant to happen because she promised to flora that she would stay and she crossed a heart and hoped to die and stick a needle in her eye. Which implies to at the end when she sees her mum in the pool when she turns round it's her own face with needles in her eyes showing from miles being in her dream again controlling it and showing her what would happen if she were to leave.
OMG YOU ARE SO SMART
That's actually an interesting & plausible theory 🤔; logical, too, but I don't think all of it is correct.
Lol, but she did not agree to the needle part when she made her promise to Flora 😁 Awwwww, that part was so cute 😍

Ya I liked the movie to until it just stopped ! Like what the heck! It does look liked they tried to speed up the ending lol
It was very cliche IMHO, this version brought nothing new (or good) to the table. The 1961 version reigns supreme.
HiHannah16 thats basically Stephen King books in a nutshell
Blizzardheart12 The Shining, Cujo, 11.22.63, Salem’s Lot, Carrie...just off the top of my head, there’s several SK works that have phenomenal endings. The trope about his poor endings, while humorous (and occasionally, entirely accurate), it’s the kind of thing that people who haven’t read many of his books say. For every lackluster ending he writes, there’s 5 other projects of his that end fantastically.
I feel like they wasted so much time on bs 😭 I wish they took the time for the ending
I felt like Miles got sexually assaulted by the grounds keeper. Which is why miles is violent bc he hates himself/what happened. Also, how Miles took pictures of his other nanny. Or how he tried to kiss Kate. He isn’t doing it in a perv way, it’s more like, he wants to understand why him and what’s on other (female) human bodies. Poor miles. I also think that the generation long nanny knows this which is why she doesn’t want the little girl to go out, cause what happened to miles. Which is also why she said, “she made sure of it” of getting rid of him
Yeah that’s what I thought too
The groundkeeper took the other nanny's photo, not miles.
i felt bad for Miles that whole movie because it seemed like he has had a bad past and i felt like no one understood him.
In Henry James’ novel it is implied that Quint m*lested him

@@michaelgonzan8401 same
They were probably trying to imply that it wasn't her mom after all, but actually her. Which would have been fine, but they should have at least shown that.
TheGamingNovice yes I agree
Yeah I agree. I watched it in slow motion and still couldn’t be sure.
I think she hallucinated the whole thing because in the end Miles said, "You can't fix it. She's broken like you." By that, he means she hallucinated everything you can see on her face and hair.
in the end which no one understands is that she sees her “mom” but screams when the person turns towards her, face to face. I questioned that maybe she saw herself, when the little girl says “why is she crazy”. So this was a second verification that she is. Which she probably self diagnosed all her life. Now she’s “turning” to BIG FACTS that she is.
Christyy Loven OOOH I LIKE YOUR THEORY
The problem with the crazy theory is, no one would leave the kids with her for five minutes. Out she goes, the police come if she does not move. So either she imagines it, or she did see the stuff, and the kids helped her to be terrified.
Evil wants to destroy, wants to tear down the normal, wants to destroy the mind of the person. So as she is attacked - over time she is more terrified and concentrating on saving herself and the kids, not looking at combing her hair lol.
It is these kids she is worried about, even though they are damn evil. I would of chinned the lad straight away if he tried that crap on me. Lads at that ages need to be challenged down or they go wild. She did not challenge him and let him get away with mean stuff, which got worse and worse. So she saw ghosts and Miles played on it.
Before anyone says I do not know what I am talking about with regards to Miles. I am the father of four boys, the oldest 21.

I'm inclined to think the house really is haunted. The ghosts in the background is my reasoning. Though based on your theory I might be wrong.
I thought the ghosts were real because when that old chick got pushed off the stairs you could see in her face that she saw something
The movie is based on the story “ the turn of the screw “ just read it for my English lit class and it’s as confusing as the movie. The people don’t actually know if they are being hausnted or if it’s just them going crazy
JJlunastamps124 Gaming I haven’t seen the movie but I read the book for my lit class as well and wrote a paper on it. To summarize my theory, due to the governess being extremely lonely and having no companionship she became overly obsessive and protective of the children to the point of becoming delusional and smothering miles in the end. I based it on the fact that the governess mentioned several times that whether the children saw the ghosts or not she would only believe what she wanted to believe. I also discussed the implications of being a governess in that period of time and how it basically means the lady has no home or no family. Therefore she descends into madness based on her sense of loneliness. So his theory about the movie keeps in-line with the original ambiguous ending. Ultimately it’s the same debate with the book, was she just going crazy or was the house really haunted. I lean towards the former.
I believe that she could possibly not be crazy because sometimes you can see the reflection of the spirits. If she was crazy she would most likely not have hallucinated the reflection of something as well as that thing.
I find comfort in knowing that I wasn't the only person confused throughout the movie. Like they constantly give slight backstory to characters, and throughout the movie I was trying to piece together how it would play out later, then it just...ends
so according to a few people there’s a deleted scene when there’s a GIANT spider on miles face and that’s what she sees but idk
It's the alternate ending. it climbs out of his mouth.
I find it funny that was a deleted scene because I swear all the trailers that were catapulted at me about this movie had that one scene of a big ol spider climbing out of the dude's mouth.

@@Bugs_bunnie43 yeah i did watch that movie when i was 12 yo i couldnt sleep like in a week ahah
Traumatized me!
the beginning is a classic now
what i got from the last scene was that yes, that was her own face on her "mom" and that´s because she invented "everything" that happened in the movie throught her drawings. the house, the kids, everything. that would make sense because she apparently saw that whole escaping from the house scene on that black charcoal whatever piece of paper, which doesn´t actually seem anything to us but was actually a part of the house story that she invented... and you could also tell that she could have had created the blonde version of herself because there was a drawing of her just like that...
and the credit scene also shows a hand touching a picture or a drawing or whatever of what seems to be the same mansion she "was in" which makes me think that it was something that she made herself for the sake of the story...
i could be totally wrong but i would rather think of it this way than be confused about the gosts being real or not.
ps sorry if my english is bad, i speak portuguese lol
I think you make some really good points there. Makes the movie more understandable if seen from that perspective. If she had been mad all along, then the house, the kids, the ghost, and her deep desire to restore stability to the kids would be symbolic of her attempt to create another reality for herself outside of the institution. She gets to be the hero, escape with the kids and fix a broken story unlike her story that can not be fixed. Sad but interesting. Would have liked more of an ending with more substance. If you want a good ghost story, Id recommend "Ghost Ship", "The Others", "The Haunting In Connecticut", "What Lies Beneath", "The Conjuring 1 & 2", "The Shining" and "The Sixth Sense". Enjoy!
I think your explanation makes a lot of sense. There is a movie from a couple of years back, "Ghost Stories" is called, it's an antology with a very similar ending but none of the ambiguity, the whole thing was a figment of someone's imagination. I have also seen the same type of ending in an Asian film but I don't remember its name.
guys i actually changed quite a bit of what i think about the movie after i watched another video (that one is in portuguese, so i couldn´t recommend it to you) but the guy there said that the director of this movie did say that it was all a criticism of toxic masculinity in our society, so i don´t know if it´s because i´m a woman but that´s what i decided to agree with in the end.
some of the points he adressed to support that vision (which seems to be the correct one) is that the older guy is basically trying to teach and manipulate the younger one to become an abusive man like he is; the tattoo on the main character represents the cicle of the toxic masculinity, which perpetuates itself through different generations; and the way that they all end up treating her, like she is crazy hysterical or something, and that is something that happened a lot in history when women tried to point something out (like she was doing with the ghosts).
Anyway, i don´t remember everything he said on the video. I just think it made a lot of sense back when i watched it. If anyone wants to know more, let me know and i´ll try to watch it again and talk more over this subject! byeeeee
@@amandaborges9218 Whats the movie in Portuguese called? I'll watch it to draw on the link. Also, I can see how the older man's influence on the boy made him demeaning towards women. Its quite possible her time at the manor with the kids and the ghosts drove her crazy and she ended up in the insane asylum. Her drawings, like when she is touching the wall in the end, depict her memories of the manor. Maybe? Who knows. Its one or the other explaination. I would say that the The Turning's end leaves much to be desired. Personally, Id recommend "La Corpa" The Body. Its a fantastic Spanish horror mystery. Enjoy!

At least Gretel and Hansel had a story, turning was just garbage
Noooo I was hype for gretel and hansel it looked like it was going to make the witch into a teacher for the girl and they end up both being witches or something. But if it’s bad then imma be upset 😠
@@merikijiya13 it's was on ok movie, mainly very slow paced
i really loved this movie. i think all the subtle clues that are further revealed in the movie are really powerful and creepy. i was not a fan of the ending though. it felt so rushed. the actors were AMAZING though, especially finn wolfhard. i was blown away by his acting and characterization.
Something I just thought of while watching this- the scene where Kate gets the package from her mom and sees that it's open, Mrs. Grose says "it came like that." What if Kate sent the package to herself without realizing and never sealed it?
Foundflix: Don't be scared of old movies
The exorcist: Well yes. But actually, no.
I won't watch the exorcist either
I found it kind of silly in bits. However i still think it is a really good film.
Brenda Leal pussy
Lol wasn’t that old
This will most likely get buried, but you should look into the Netflix original Dark.
Welp guess I’m grabbing my shovel because that show was so good.
Mirro R yessss a little confusing but I’d love to see him make a video over it
Yesss!!! I loved it!
Hm this movie was disappointing. Love the Netflix adaptation “Haunting of Bly Manor” though, please do an ending explained on this series!
Didn’t Netflix make a long ass show called haunting of bly manor or something? Basically the same thing...
yeah
Yeah and it’s way better than this! I’ve watched it like a million times 😂 it’s an adaptation of a book called “The Turn of the Screw” I’m currently reading it and you can see the similarities between the book and the show
Copy something that was a success and usually you get a lot of money from it..
"What did you guys think of The Turning and its dumb-ass ending?"
This is a loaded question, and I Love it
Why do horror movies always have the dumbest names ever? It’s always “The (random word)”
Eh the turning doesn't sound so bad if you put it with some Zombie movie, some monstrous mutation movie, a werewolf movie, or something like that but definitely not this
"The Toes"
It,us,the turning,candy man,the boy
US
Get Out
pretty dumbass names for movies.
@@skeletoncrew6500 I think its part of the hinted at duality of the movie; either the kids are turning into the spirits possessing them, or kate is turning slowly mad and/or self realising her mental state
The ending to me was like, wahhhhhhh. I rewind the ending 3x and didn’t understand at all. I just felt so stupid, and was like wahhhhhh
“Let’s wrap this bitch up”
Is it bad that I actualy kinda liked this film??
🤣🤣 maybe
I loved it, it made me think about it and rewatch it and think of my own ending. I thought about the movie and enjoyed it!
Here is what I thought,
Here mom most definitely had a mental illness and that was pasted down as the nanny's says when walking away, the kids pranks was making her pardoned and brought out the mental condition her mother had. It made her see things and make up storys that could or could not be happening. Think about this when she was in the basement she was being "attacked" thinking it was miles and was over all scared and made making her mental state questionable when she goes upstairs to say something she sees him eating and is shocked and mad, all of that could be happening in her mind and they could have been upstairs not even doing the game! Her seing the body was fake and built up to with crazy emotions and a mental illness. As she drove away it was her letting go and setting her self free but as we see in the movie it was a hallucination. And the real ending was her being faced with the question "why is kate so crazy?" And the fact that miles says "it's broken, just like you" is meaning that she has lost touch with reality and is in her own world. She is projecting her thoughts of somthing is wrong here onto the house and the people, because at point in the movie the crazy and scary people are normal and confused at what she is saying! She has lost her mind and is in a mental hospital with her mom but as she sees her moms face !!!!!!!
The end
I did too the ending just really sucked it was confusing
@Seabass Cribel yes! My interpretation was that either she's reliving the last days in her head, wondering what she did wrong or sumthing, or the house told her what was going to happen. That here is no escape!
I liked it too but I was just confused at the end . Is she crazy or did it all actually happen 💀
Okay, so both kids are possessed by the ghosts. Is that reason why Flora said that she would die if she left the grounds? Because if that is the deal, then the maid should've said something to that effect. Other than "Flora never leaves the property." And the whole time I wanted to know just why she couldn't. And a bunch of other things also came into question. As the only thing I understood was the house was indeed haunted. Everything else went right over my head. >
yeah it bugged me how the main charecter didnt ask enough questions or investigate enough, especially since thats the role of main characters lol
Soooooooo, question... Has there been a vote for Pandorum yet? It is slightly scary, has a scientific twist on the "monsters" in a The Decent kind of way, and was fairly entertaining. Get on that, my G!
jonathan bennett I actually LOVED that movie! It was an enjoyable little sci-fi flick
Loved it, it was imho really good.
"What do you guys think if The Turning and its dumbass ending?"
Had me rolling with that one 😂😂😂😂
Thank you for keeping me safe during this quarantine! Much love from NYC
The Innocents is one of the best movies I've ever seen. It's also one of the scariest movies I've ever seen. There are several standout scenes, whether they're absolutely terrifying or totally gobsmacking. So much ambiguity and subtext that kept me thinking, and every time I go back and watch it I pick up on something new. The cinematography is also stunning.
I was going to see this movie. But the constant advertisements annoyed me, and made me not want to go see it. When I saw Foundflix uploaded, I was like yes!
The Turning is basically a "The Innocents" remake. THANK YOU for mentioning it.
I keep seeing The Turn of the Screw being mentioned, but not "The Innocents".
Uhm because one came first ?? Wow lol
it annoys me so much because there was SO MUCH potential. davis, wolfhard and prince are all super talented and this movie would have been even more of a disaster if not for their acting saving at least some of the horrid dialogue and pacing. the aesthetics and set design are also amazing and very classic gothic horror, which at least keeps you interested for some parts of the film. these don't really salvage much though, as the script literally sucked and the ending was awful, so.
Exactly I'm disappointed
Good scary old movie: "The bad seed"
Love that ! William Hopper is fantastic in it. "What'll you give me for a basket of hugs?"
OMG yess ! I love this movie
Macho Camacho YES!!! And mama dearest! It isn’t too much of a horror movie, but it’s still a ‘scarier’ movie
The Bad Seed was a good one!
Counter Suggestion:
The Haunting (in b&w).

Mommy Dearest. That movie terrorized me as a child. I watched it on TCM. Yes. I was a weird kid.
"The Turn of the Screw" was also made into an Opera by Benjamin Britten.
David Worobec the opera is what made me fall in love with horror
I love your blunt honesty. Its perfect
yeah, her face was her moms. its hard to explain but she was basically re living something or just thinking of something. she was just losing her mind. so everything that happened in the movie, didnt rly happen
I LOVE THIS MAN CHANNEL😩😩😩🥰 i can literally listen to your voice all night long

Who would have thought the late 1800’s classic “The Turn of the Screw” wouldn’t translate well to modernity...
I don't know what is so amazing about watching these I love these videos so much but they give me nightmares 🤣 I don't understand why I torture myself like this I just love your videos way too much
I was watching this video and thinking "I've heard of something like this before..." and when you brought up "The Innocents" and showed scenes from it, I remembered I watched that a long time ago xD
My grandpa got me to watch older movies like that. I'm glad he did because I probably wouldn't have on my own.
There are some really good old movies people should see 8u
when i finished the movie at the theatre, my friend and i and the other 3 people in the room were silent, still sat in our seats because none of us really thought that was the actual ending..
This movie seemed like it was going to be really good.
Zach Boland it was terrible don’t waste your money
@@loriehenry9286 oh, if found fix says it's terrible and you manage to get an F, then there is no way in hell I'm watching that movie.

Foundflix is confused about the ending that is a very big red flag.
@@Raccon_Detective. when you confuse the guy who is supposed to explain the confusing endings, there's a problem
But no the rubbish
look, I know that the turning of the screw really didn't need to be adapted again, but I quite like The Haunting of Bly Manor on Netflix, especially because it shows how the actual haunting perspective could be taken, and gives a really heartfelt look at the story, which I quite like.
This video just confused me even more thank you very much
*My Mom: Trying not to laugh throughout the whole trailer*
*Trailer:* "These children are thoroughbreds."
*Me:* Oooohhhh.....incest.....
*My Mom: Laughs out loudly in the theater*
Chubby Unicorn thoroughbreds?
Chelsea Jones Google is your friend.
It just means they have good genes... Purebred is more associated with incest.
I want an ending explained on Velocipastor that movie is just a mess. A brief synopses from IMDB says "After losing his parents, a priest travels to China, where he inherits a mysterious ability that allows him to turn into a dinosaur. At first horrified by this new power, a hooker convinces him to use it to fight crime. And ninjas" and no im not kidding.
On WHAT
It's not an ending explained but Kennie J.D talks about Velocipastor in her bad movies and a beat series.
@Cats Are Evil!!! The Velocipastor the description on IMDB says "After losing his parents, a priest travels to China, where he inherits a mysterious ability that allows him to turn into a dinosaur. At first horrified by this new power, a hooker convinces him to use it to fight crime. And ninjas"
@@owe_sydney thats where i hear of it i saw her video and watched it myself amd im still so confused so maybe foundflix will be able to shed some light on the nightmare that is "The Velocipastor"
i kick my TV after watching turning's ending scene..
I'm going to post what I wrote to myself after I watched this:
Not only is it a brilliant modernization of the orginal, The Innocents , it's also adapting to what society consists of. It continuously adapts to different "generations". Although it's not as scary as you'd expect a horror film to be, it keeps you captivated, with a constant wonder of, " What is happening?"
Don't even get me started on the ending, it's pure brilliance, it had me mind f****ed, it's been an hour and I'm still in shock. Without spoiling too much I'd like to ask everybody in charge of writing, directing, producing (and other important people who had anything to do with the execution of the film):
How did you manage to end a film without actually ending it?
Forgive me cause I like being extra and did it way too dramatic
Thank you for this. I've been mindlessly going through TLC UK, I needed something good to watch!
Ghost: Notice me senpai.
I always loved The Innocents. My father got me to watch it when I was about 9 year's old. Many years later at University I read Henry James's The Turn of the Screw. Additionally I am wondering what you think of The Village of the Damned (same child actor played lead role as Myles in The Innocents). The book 'the Midwhich Cuckoo's' was the inspiration. I would love you to check out the book 'sheep' - a dreadful remake that has nothing to do with the book was made called 'the Darkness' staring Maria Bello & Sean Bean. The book is AMAZINGLY creepy & haunting.
ya gotta love that tropical background music
when the move ended i swear to u guys everyone in the theatre was like, "woooow" or "oooo", and not in a good way
What movie did you see?! Quint died, they said from the very beginning that he fell off a horse. It’s NEVER implied that Miles killed him, but Mrs. Gross flat out admits to doing it. As far as implying that the ghosts are possessing the kids, you said that because you know the book, no way did you get that from the movie. Maybe in the case of Miles but definitely not from the little girl. Also she didn’t apply for the job, the school she worked for randomly put her up for it and she took it because the girl was an orphan and she felt for her. A stupid in based in anything reason but the reason given.
Also the murder of Ms. Jessel makes no sense. The vision saw Quint strangling her in his bedroom, which makes no sense because she got all the way to the gate before he caught her. What he brought her unwillingly back to his room, raped and killed her, and then dragged her body back outside without anyone hearing.
I really hated this movie. I have to completely disagree on the acting, couldn’t stand the lead and poor Finn, poor poor Finn. The plot didn’t make sense, there was no reason for the main character to continue to stay at that house. Her reasoning for staying was stupid and anyone with a brain would have left after the first night. The “scares” weren’t scary. Just so very very bad
The possession of the kids is something i thought of without reading the novel, its implied through that vision kate had of miles on a horse and as they ride parralel together she literally sees him change into the groundskeeper. Also the connection between the nanny and the little girl was implied since the beginning, the girl talked a lot about how everyone around her died as well as how she knew about the idea of ghosts meaning she must have known her previous nanny was a ghost when she saw her again( which we knew she did due to her drawing) yet she did nothing, implying that she was being controlled. Also that shot of the previous nanny carresing her, specifically her head, implies she had a control over the girls mind, meaning the girl's fear of going out of the property might have stemmed from her somehow being able to remember her previous maids death there. Also theres every possibly that the groundskeeper could take the nanny to the room and then back outside, its been said that he acted like he owned the place and was clumsy, especially since he was known to be a drunk. And maybe thats how the old woman knew that he killed the nanny, by hearing her screams, and so she went to investigate and killed him in those chambers as he just finished killing the nanny
Cat Tay about the begging of the movie when she opened the gate quint was in the car when she tried to get in so that can mby explain something
You don't have to be an expert to understand that quint was controlling mails, and no i have never heard of the book before.
Have to disagree with you on the acting, I think the acting was great, but I agree with the rest 100%
So I agree with you to an extent. Any horror movie ever made would make anyone with a brain move far away, but then we wouldn’t have horror. Besides that, Quinn could have done that, he seemed to be insane so why not put someone through that. The house is big and pretty much no one goes on that side of the house, so it’s not impossible that no one heard him.
This is random but I love this channel. I literally watch the old ending explains when I’m bored even tho ik what happens lol
“they pretty much just fart around for a while occasionally seeing ghosts”
this sums up the entire movie
The Turn of the Screw has always been a story close to me, my father played Miles in the Kentucky Opera's production of it as a child and made the paper, which I had hanging in my room as a kid. I'm glad they brought the story back into the limelight, but I can't say I like how they handled the ending.
