I love the Factorio devs, they don't fuck around. They believe in their product enough to not discount it during sales and they price fairly based on what they feel is good value. If what I've heard about them is true they definitely have the receipts and G2A better be ready to pay up.
I wonder if it works out for them. Maybe Factorio is unique enough (its rating surely is) for that but statistically most games are more profitable when they discount on sales due to sheer volume of purchases.
"Well, nice to know G2A admits that the problem they claim not to be a problem is a problem that won't stop being a problem even if they stopped being the problem."
I actually got into a flame war on Facebook after making a mention to Jim Sterling's "Devs would rather you pirate their game" video on the specific article talking about that prewritten article and I had people actually defending G2A saying it's just angry developers wanting more money. Then when I had the link to the video up, they *LITERALLY* gave no evidence about devs being secretly upset, but said the video I linked had nothing factual and I needed to post better facts. No, some folk do not like others highlighting problems. You get labelled as a entitled whiner. It doesn't matter what the problem is or how you spoke about it. They take issue and will slag you off.
@@Shawnchapp Ah, yes, ye olde ignorant refrain of "if there was any proof, someone would have taken legal action by now!"...except for the glaring issues of 1) lawsuits aren't free and if you're out $6600 it doesn't make sense to engage in a $100k worth of litigation 2) law is not perfect, *enabling* fraud might not technically itself be fraud if you aren't pre-emptively aware that fraud is happening... it's a legal *grey area* , hence *grey market* , they're not "black market", because they aren't openly operating wholly outside of the law, but they are on the fringe of it. So even if someone decided to take...someone to court, there's a decent chance that G2A's lawyers would be able to argue that, since they neither stole the credit cards nor "knew" that the goods they were selling were stolen, they have no financial responsibility and the victim has to go and sue the credit card thieves...whoever they are.
G2A telling an indie dev to "work with them" is like a mob boss asking you to walk into the back room so you can "discuss" things... I'd pass on that lol.

As much as I want to agree with you. Ebay has a similar model, you can become a seller and sell your item and get a chargeback losing your item and your money if you don't take the correct precautions and Ebay won't do a shit about it or the person in question closes up shop after you buy the item and you lose your money. Fucking oath.
Pirates were not thieves, but the copyright cartels, including indies, didn't comprehend what piracy was: a counter to monopoly power removing the power to negotiate.
That 100 devs signing up to the key blocker...that's just to drum up business. Either 100 devs sign up to G2A, in which case G2A gets money from them. OR 100 devs don't sign up and G2A can say "Well we offered help but no-one took us up on it. I guess the problem isn't that bad, huh." The whole thing feels like "We'll stop stealing your cars if you give us your car."
This whole insurance thing is nothing more than ransom. I wouldn't be surprised if G2A was actively encouraging resellers to target the publishers who don't pay into their shakedown. Honestly, is this even legal?
G2A already has a system in place to flag kegs already in their system. If your keys were flagged as previously sold on G2A your account is frozen until you can prove payment.
All they had to do is say 'this company has advised us they do not distribute keys for 3rd resells and as such no key resells of X title will be allowed' and viola, the thieves have to find somewhere else shady to fence their stolen goods making it harder for them to hide their behavior alongside legit exchanges. Except that site is functionally a laundering front for credit card fraud rings, from which they profit heavily, because they refuse to do even basic ethical due diligence. Because they are utter scum.

Problem there is they could get sued for slander, since they technically aren't doing illegal and the devs would be intentionally trying to ruin their business/reputation. Now parodies are fair game, if they wanted to put something like a crooked flea market in their game they could get away with it.
Not really, if they just state that they do not want their userbase to purchase the game from an unauthorized retailer (in this case G2A), without stating any reason why, it's not slander because they aren't saying anything negative about the company.

The only way G2A can be phased out is if the gaming industry phases out Game Keys. Activision Blizzard requires the end user to connect their account to Humble Bundle to get the games in question. Ubisoft is said to be doing the same thing, and there is word that the Epic Game Store may also do that as well. Should Valve join in on ending Game Keys, that may end up killing off G2A once and for all.
Daimando idk how to do that though. Game keys have existed forever. They weren’t required back in the days of physical releases, but they still existed. I had all my sims 2 expansion packs registered with their keys
Isn't Valve already cranking down on them? Like, the whole connecting deal you're talking about, I've seen it on Humble Bundle with Steam as well. I can either claim it for myself with my Steam account, or claim it as a gift.
Daimando this will kill off humble monthly for me. I get so many games I already have. If I can’t give the keys out what’s the point of buying it anymore?
So this unnamed employee wrote the article, contacted 10 media outlets, and was going to pay to have the article published out of his own pocket? That's some rogue.

AAA is the only thing G2A should be used for. If you overdo it, the corporations will shut it down eventually. There is only victory. But why would anyone buy a fine $15 or $20 indie title that is likely at a half price already, via G2A, that I don't get. All of it is typically DRM free anyway, and can be pirated just as easy, if you can't or won't pay.

Factorio was Shown in this video without the Certified Proper mandated warning: While Factorio is a fun and engaging game, any person playing the aforementioned entertainment medium should be made aware of the "Factorio effect," in which the player may experience temporal displacement, where in the "player" may only perceive minutes passing while engaged, yet find hours or even days to have passed once the experience has been exited.
*sarcastic applause followed by raspberry*
I actually got into a flame war on Facebook after making a mention to Jim Sterling's "Devs would rather you pirate their game" video on the specific article talking about that prewritten article and I had people actually defending G2A saying it's just angry developers wanting more money. Then when I had the link to the video up, they *LITERALLY* gave no evidence about devs being secretly upset, but said the video I linked had nothing factual and I needed to post better facts. Then when I posted 3 articles, including one article breaking down how to make risk-free money off of G2A, I was ignored with one person even telling me he's ignoring what I'm digging up because he "doesn't like it."
SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME I WAS BEING TROLLED. G2A CAN'T HONESTLY HAVE ACTUAL SUPPORTERS.
Whenever there's a cheap option, no matter how unethical, there will always be people defending it.

@@heronator That makes me wonder, though, why they don't just pirate it then, which costs nothing, when they're told it's better for the devs than G2A. Piracy is literally better for everyone than G2A is...except G2A themselves, which leads me to think maybe G2A is paying people to praise them. :s

The dev costs would be cheaper than even a small portion of the fraud costs.
Problem there is they could get sued for slander, since they technically aren't doing illegal and the devs would be intentionally trying to ruin their business/reputation.
Now parodies are fair game, if they wanted to put something like a crooked flea market in their game they could get away with it.

Yes, if needed, remove game keys. Those who can't afford the damn games should just pirate them.
