Their harmonies were their trademark - and were always amazing. The whole band could sing - not carry a tune - they could sing. Listen to "Seven Bridges Road", which is almost entirely a capella
Every feller in that band are great singers in their own right. You'd be hard pressed to find another band that can harmonize as well as them. Rip Glen.
Randy 2✌️Honestly, probably will never find a more complete band(no autotune baby), when you've sold more albums than even Michael Jackson, at least in us something like that,(oh, by the way they're in the Smithsonian as well) these guys were beyond BIG. You young pups have no idea😂
@@marthalowe1556 Oh, yes - that's a good one too. I rock out a whole lot harder these days but you never forgot your first loves (music wise). There was SO much awesome music back in the seventies; I'm glad I grew up in that Era.
I have the DVD from way back.. This is one of the best concerts ever. I believe at the time it was rated as one of the best sound recordings in concert. Just an amazing bunch of musicians.. So sad we lost Glenn Frey so early.
The eagles and the 70s were my childhood and I feel so bad for those that missed out on all this music. There is nothing like driving down Sunset Boulevard towards the beach with windows down, wind in your hair, sunglasses on, singing every word while tapping your hand to the beat. The BEST LIFE EVER.
"Desperado" was never released as a single, but it is one of The Eagles most popular songs. Yes, the orchestral part is in the original recording. The song was recorded in London, England with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Don Henley said that he felt that he didn't sing his best for the song. Between 1987 - 1989, there were 5 made for TV movies loosely based on the song.
This song, and the songs in the album it comes from, were inspired by a book of old photographs and biographies of frontier gunmen entitled "The Album of Gunfighters." Evidently Jackson Browne has a copy of it and showed it to Don and Glen and I guess they really got something out of it. This book was compiled and written by my grandfather, Texas historian and journalist J. Marvin Hunter, who provided the histories and biographies- along with his friend and colleague, Noah H. Rose, who provided the photographs from his extensive collection of frontier artifacts. I still have several copies of it.
The very first week that Glenn Frey & Don Henley began trying to write songs together for their new band The Eagles, they wrote Tequila Sunrise and Desperado, both songs that would remain staples of their live sets for most of their careers.
Eagles are an encyclopaedia of perfection. Too many songs to list, but I'll be here for every reaction you do. The line "the sky won't snow and the sun won't shine" gets me every time. I've seen many of those days and it's etched in my soul. Listen to your commentors and do more Eagles!
It was live. One of the top five all-time vocalist in rock. Their harmonies are some of the best in all of the music business. These songs were around at least 20 years by the time this concert happened so they’ve had plenty of practice. You guys should do some Don Henley’s solo stuff. You’d love New York minute! His vocals amazing.
Don Henley could sing the phone book. The man was blessed. I was sold on Eagles the first time I heard "Take It Easy" (Glenn Frey's vocals and those Eagles harmonies) and they just kept pumping out the hits. A Greatest Hits album, put together (against the band's wishes) while waiting for the band to complete a new album, became the top selling album of the 20th Century. Such talent. Such success. Such drama. "This could be Heaven or this could be Hell".
I was born in 74 and remwber my mom playing this on her record player, and yes the orchestral part is part of the original recording, this was not a single but part of the Egales "Desperado" album in 1973... but it's one of their best songs ...
The video is from their “Hell Freezes Over” reunion tour from back in the 90’s. If you get the chance I highly recommend watching the entire show… simply outstanding
My all-time favorite Eagles song from my all-time favorite Eagles album. Thank you Curt G! T&S, you should listen to the entire album some time. It's essentially a country-rock opera and there is another version of this song on the last track.
Saw these guys a month or so ago and they did the whole Hotel California album along with a ton of hits including "Desperado".. Watching Joe Walsh and Vince Gill trade licks was pretty cool. Check out "Wasted Time" with the full orchestra and choir, which they also have on the current tour.
Henley also had a great solo career -- The Boys of Summer, In a New York Minute and more. The end of this song is so true: You better let somebody love you before it's too late.
This is them singing Desperado in their 1994 Reunion concert that you can get on DVD, etc. Somebody took this and synched the audio of the original studio recording to it.
I grew up with this band and that voice...that is why it is so hard to get into alot of music nowadays some are good but not many)...because of so many quality musicians and singers when I was growin up in the 60;s n 70's
The Eagles perfectionist. Especially Don Henley (drummer). They strive for perfection in every recording snd every live performance. I have seen them 11 times and they never disappoint. They are on their final tour right now. If you get the chance to see them…. Do it. I guarantee you will leave just like you felt after this video.
There is also a video somewhere of Linda Ronstadt singing this with the Eagles. Both are great. The album was a concept album, of sorts, that was really good. "The queen of hearts is always your best bet" is good advice! The lyrics in most Eagles songs are great.
The Hell Freezes Over album was so immaculately produced and mixed that back in 1996 or 1997 this was the CD I used to demonstrate audio equipment I was selling to customers.
It makes me wonder if the mixing booth doesn't have autotune rolling with him. We use it at times. But this has been remixed so well. Back in the day of this song, there was no autotune. But today it could very well be. Gotta love the eagles. Always have always will.
This is from a show in 1994. You mentioned how you thought his voice is perfect. I've seen the Eagles four times, beginning in 1976 to this past May 2022. They are the most perfect band I've ever heard live, and I worked in the concert business for 23 years.
The recording is the 1973 studio version (off the Desperado album, produced by Glyn Johns in the UK despite being an American band) which had the London Philharmonic Orchestra on the string parts. The video you are seeing is from the 1994 "Hell Freezes Over" special on MTV, which also had an orchestra - but the Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra because it was filmed at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank. Still - the 1994 audio is remarkably close to the original 1973 recording. The Eagles were notorious for sounding exactly like the recording, even when live.
Even after all these years I listen to the Desperado album more than any other Eagles album. It was Bernie Leaden, pre Dan Felder sound, with Jackson Browne still part of the early Eagles sound. The songs were less catchy and more cohesive, which didn't result in a lot of album sales, but it established the Frey-Henley writing duo that would rival the Beatles in album sales. I also liked the quasi concept album theme centering around an old west cowboy theme, eg the Dalton gang and Coffeyville raid.
now what you need to do is find the old live TV version when Bernie Leadon was still in the band and they coupled this tune with Doolin-Dalton or the Eagles doing this tune with Linda Ronstadt
Goddämm!!! Travelling on the bus, for fun, but destination is clearly in agreement. This boy's ex, a long time ago, was a fan of The Ragles(sometime called "Eagles") and especially this particular one of their repertoire... 🤘😎🇫🇮💙
The mix is great because it appears that audio is not the live audio of this performance.. It's the record audio dubbed over the live video. Watch it again and you'll see places where Henley's singing doesn't match up to what you're seeing his mouth do. In a couple of places you even can still hear his voice singing after he's clearly finished singing and cut the line shorter than what he sang on the record.. Also, whoever made this video at Video Jukebox put on the video that it's 1973. Although the record was recorded 1973, the performance footage we are watching is not. It's one of their later reunion performances. This is what you get with fan made videos that somebody puts together. Dubbed audio over pieces of live video and wrong misleading information. But I'm glad you guys liked it. It's a great song, Linda Ronstadt also did a great cover live.
Linda Ronstadt did a beautiful cover of this. There’s a live performance of her doing this song that will knock your socks off. As gorgeous as this is, it wasn’t really a hit until Linda did it. It’s just such a wonderful song. These guys were so impressive. You guys are hilarious 😂
I feel so sorry for all the younger people out there who didn't grow up with the absolute best music of all time. From the late '50s to the late '70s was simply musical utopia.
Re mixing Imagine trying to mix a vocal over his drumming. They always tried for "perfect". They started as a backup band for Linda Ronstadt. She was a perfectionist. Listen to the same song by Linda from the Atlanta, Dec 1, 1977 performance. That is even better. Just Linda, a piano and 10,000 people!
I'm a massive metal fan, sepultura slipknot ect.. but I absolutely adore the eagles. Great band, beautiful song this is. Pls check out the songs doolin Dalton and old 55. Stunning they are
Technically, Linda's recording was a cover. Frye & Henley wrote it and it was the title track on the Eagles album of the same name released in April of 1973, but not released as a single. Linda put it on her album "Don't Cry Now" released in September of '73 and released it as a single. Don Henley credited Linda with making the song popular.
I don’t care what genre anyone likes, this a work of art.
Their harmonies were their trademark - and were always amazing. The whole band could sing - not carry a tune - they could sing. Listen to "Seven Bridges Road", which is almost entirely a capella
So is the song hole in the world
Every feller in that band are great singers in their own right.
You'd be hard pressed to find another band that can harmonize as well as them.
Rip Glen.
Glen Frey once said after attending a "Little River Band" concert that LRB had the best harmonies he had ever heard
Beach boys have the best
Queen has entered the chat!!
Randy 2✌️Honestly, probably will never find a more complete band(no autotune baby), when you've sold more albums than even Michael Jackson, at least in us something like that,(oh, by the way they're in the Smithsonian as well) these guys were beyond BIG. You young pups have no idea😂
This was the band of my teenage years. Every one of their songs are great, the harmonies are perfect, they could all sing beautifully. They're magic.
That would be Don Henley singing. This is one of my very favorite Eagles songs. Also recommend Take It To The Limit.
Me too. Immaculate song.
One more tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime.
AGREE 100%. Grew up with Eagles in 70's. Would add 'Peaceful Easy Feeling', to that list, tho.
@@marthalowe1556 Oh, yes - that's a good one too. I rock out a whole lot harder these days but you never forgot your first loves (music wise). There was SO much awesome music back in the seventies; I'm glad I grew up in that Era.
The whole album tells a story... You need to listen to it all... It's so beautiful

That's something I didn't know..great info..do you know the info?
Don might have thought he didn't do his best on this song but personally I think it was some of his best vocals ever.
Saw them 2 years ago and they CRUSHED it. One of the best concerts I've ever seen
Don Henley is the freaking man!!! He was the man with his singles in the 80’s and still recording today!!!
This song, and the songs in the album it comes from, were inspired by a book of old photographs and biographies of frontier gunmen entitled "The Album of Gunfighters." Evidently Jackson Browne has a copy of it and showed it to Don and Glen and I guess they really got something out of it.

About time you two reacted to this beautiful song.
It's all live with no auto tune. The Eagles were just that good!!!!!!!
❤EAGLES❤ Perfect! That's why they had so many hits!
One of the top rock songs ever! Like you said musical perfection!
perfect song perfect harmonies perfect reaction all perfect lol
The very first week that Glenn Frey & Don Henley began trying to write songs together for their new band The Eagles, they wrote Tequila Sunrise and Desperado, both songs that would remain staples of their live sets for most of their careers.
Linda Ronstadt's band before they were the Eagles, Linda did an incredible cover of this and had a hit 🎯
There are voices that once heard, live with us forever and become part of who we are. Henley's is one of them. Same goes for this song, of course.
Don Henley, from Linden, Texas. About 15 minutes east of where I live. The Eagles are an amazing group!! Love all there music!!
Seen them a few times live. Always perfect harmony.
Saw them 4 times live. I promise those ooohhhs and harmonies were always studio perfect.

I love all of their songs, but this is one of my favorites!!!! ♥️♥️♥️
I love when Don Henley starts playing the drums!!!
Beautiful…awesome reaction guys…ya’ll rock❣️❣️❣️❣️

There were very few bands "back in the day" that were as PERFECT as the Eagles!!! Spectacular in concert!!!💜💜🎵🎼🎶🥁🎸🎧🎹🎙🤘🤘
An absolute incredible song. Perfect is the word! Don Henley is unmatched.
Wow, just wow! Live and perfect. Thx for the reaction
On the night of 9/11 the members of the Eagle's wrote a song called "A hole in the world tonight"! You'll love it !!!
The video is from their “Hell Freezes Over” reunion tour from back in the 90’s. If you get the chance I highly recommend watching the entire show… simply outstanding
agreed
They sounded like that in concert as well!!!
Desperado covered by many but none ever equaled the original.
The video is from their live album "Hell Freezes Over" back when they reunited in 1994..
My all-time favorite Eagles song from my all-time favorite Eagles album. Thank you Curt G!

Love this song!
Eagles played this song as encore during their concert stop back in 2002.
Henley also had a great solo career -- The Boys of Summer, In a New York Minute and more. The end of this song is so true: You better let somebody love you before it's too late.
The album had two versions of Desperado this one in the beginning and a different one at the end
This is them singing Desperado in their 1994 Reunion concert that you can get on DVD, etc. Somebody took this and synched the audio of the original studio recording to it.
one of my favorite songs from The Eagles

"The queen of hearts is always your best bet" is good advice! The lyrics in most Eagles songs are great.
This is a very very very very personal song for The Eagles drummer and lead vocalist Don Henley. He wrote this classic poignant tune. Desperado.
The Hell Freezes Over album was so immaculately produced and mixed that back in 1996 or 1997 this was the CD I used to demonstrate audio equipment I was selling to customers.
This song by them gets me every time
Eagles "I can't tell you why" video and song amazing.
My four top all time bands! The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, the Eagles, and Steve Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble! Love this tune! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Linda Ronstadt did a great cover of this song. Old band mates from the Stone Ponies days.
Such a beautiful song.
It was PERFECT
the video you are watching appears to be a live performance video mashed with the original studio audio recording. that's why it sounds perfect.
It makes me wonder if the mixing booth doesn't have autotune rolling with him. We use it at times. But this has been remixed so well. Back in the day of this song, there was no autotune. But today it could very well be. Gotta love the eagles. Always have always will.
wow- love her reactions
SEVEN BRIDGES ROAD the Eagles best harmonies in any song.
Linda Ronstadt does a great version of this also…….worth a listen.
And Karen Carpenter (from duo Carpenters) did also that Song - absolutely brilliant Interpretation
You guys gotta see Lying eyes Live in Melbourne. That's the best version of that song
This is from a show in 1994. You mentioned how you thought his voice is perfect. I've seen the Eagles four times, beginning in 1976 to this past May 2022. They are the most perfect band I've ever heard live, and I worked in the concert business for 23 years.
I think that Don Henley is an underrated musical genius. Great reaction as always❤️✌️
Agreed 100%.
Randy Meisner's Take it to the Limit
one of my fav songs

Have you ever heard Linda Rondstat do this?
This is the title track for the movie series of the same name!
One of the greatest lyric of all time. Your prison is walking through this world all alone
Beautiful song
Thats wy they are one of the best selling bands effer...

Being young makes his voice perfect
Don Henley's nephew is playing in my band now and has the same tone and range as his uncle.
Beautiful
M y 2nd favorite EAGLES song!
It is one of the most covered songs ever usually by country singers
The Eagles sound just as good live.
This is actually the studio version played over a live video.
the voice of Don Henley is amazing
His voice is just great.
I love this song but I can't help thinking of that Seinfeld episode whenever I hear it.. if you know you know..
Reminds me of my dad.
I'm a massive metal fan, sepultura slipknot ect.. but I absolutely adore the eagles. Great band, beautiful song this is. Pls check out the songs doolin Dalton and old 55. Stunning they are
Ha ha, I thought the same thing. He doesn't recognize the song Desperado, then Henley sings one word, Desperado, and he recognizes it
I suspect this is an original studio recording dubbed over live video footage. It’s just too perfect to be otherwise.
Linda Rondstat song. These guys were in her band

The original recording does include the orchestra.
Had an Ex girlfriend dedicate this song to me over the radio. WRIF 101.1 here in Detroit.
I grew up listening to Arthur P. On 101.1 WRIF...BABY !!! GOD bless You my Detroit Brother !!!
Same year Dark Side of the Moon was released....😎
You need to hear WastedTime. Excellent song.
i can name that tune...in one ...word
The original was dubbed over this live version.. this is the studio version
