Unboxing My Generation!

- On the 16th and 17th June 2021, the Goethe Institute in Germany held an online international conference.
Deutschlandfunk Kultur, a German radio station described it as follows...
"From a truly global perspective, participants from the fields of culture, science, business, media and politics negotiated how different generations depend on each other, what shapes them, what the young expect from the old, and vice versa. Many panels of the symposium were young, diverse and animated by a spirit of optimism. But the most impressive stories were those of injustice, inequality, of inherited opportunities or non-opportunities.”
One part of the events was the invitation to four RUclips creators to make a short video entitled "Unboxing My Generation". Tim was one of the four, and here is a slightly longer version of the video he made. - Наука
Hello Tim,
As a blind child, I found colourful toys a little boring, but give me something that moved, clockwork as opposed to battery and I'd be quiet for ages.
I remember two such toys, both around 1960.
The first was a railway in the shape of a figure eight. It came with a clockwork engine, and one carriage. It shunted the carriage a distance, then left it, and eventually picked it up again.
The other was my favourite. A platform with a key in the middle. Two cars placed on a track on the outside. When wound up, a car was pulled through a tunnel, ran down a hill independently, and whilst that was happening, the other car was picked up.
I've looked for that toy for a very long time, but can't find it anywhere. Many thanks for all your videos, which I find fascinating.
I think Tim should release a 'Tim Box' for us all to purchase. A selection of his own personally chosen favourites.
They do that every year with the Christmas pack. 🎄
@@whylekat I would hope they're recreations, 'cause I wouldn't want Tim to actually give up pieces of his collection.
@@whylekat wait they do
That’s a great idea
@@Ability-King-KK turn your freegin brain on. How would that be a good business strategy? If course is new stuff lol
When Grand illusions uploads, it’s not only a great day. It’s a great minute!
1:52 What i would tell my younger self about the tempo of engaging a proper career.
If time travel was a thing.
also those were great years.
Tim: Toys from my age...
That Japanese dog toy from 50s: voice activated, still operates!
A sign of quality right there.

If time travel was a thing.
@@Mate397 their products really stand the test of time!😂
And it is still cute, too
wish i had kept my toy car collection from when i was a child be worth a fortune now
We always called "tumbling blocks" "Jacob's Ladder". If you were visiting the Great Smoky Mountains you could find all sorts of wonderful toys, many of them made by the mountain folks.
He also referred to it as a Jacob's ladder in the dragon themed video, so he's aware of the name
Odd that its called Jacobs Ladder. That's what those two antennae with the lightning arcing across them you see in every Frankenstein movie are called.
The moment he put the eye hat on his head, i lost maself 🤣
Really appreciate Tim bcoz keeping the toys carefully that the dog still working when it's basically older than ma age
I wish I could see the world the same way that Tim does, to him, everything is a "wonderful" or "remarkable" idea, even when it it quite simple.
This was a trip down memory lane of all of Tim's iconic toys we have seen before! Just Amazing! 😊✨✨
Does Tim have a PO Box? It’ll allow us to send him some of the interesting things we find for him to show the world.
can someone make a remix of Tim barking at the walking dog toy?
@@RichyJFilms awesome! Link it here when you're done!

If time travel was a thing.
Always a joy watching this sweet old man showing us his lovely toys !
Age is relative.
3:18 We all knew he's gonna put it on his head.
Tim must be the best child ever, safely keeping those toys clean and intact for six decades! My toys won't even last a year. Although then again, they don't make toys like it used to, it seems like the quality is purposely getting worse.
It probably is. That's true for EVERYTHING. It's how companies make money.
I don't know but I assume when mass produced plastics came about is when the quality began to degrade.
I love this channel! You really do make me smile! I love seeing someone that is an older gentleman that still has a big giant Zeal for life!!
Keep up your great work on your Channel👌👍👍👍👍
A man showing his childhood is so warm, thank you so much.
Tim's toys from the '50s to the present really shows his dedication for toy collecting...he had a wonderful childhood.
The vase hat with eyes. That one is always good.
He has such a rich toy history that I hope it one day makes it to a museum. So it can be remembered hopefully a very very very long time.
I would definitely visit a Tim Rowett Museum
Haven’t visited the channel for a month or so as notifications are on the Fritz. Now I’m here , it’s still the best channel on RUclips. Always leaves me with a huge smile on my face.
Is it just me or is Tim acting like a kid in a toy store?? The excitement of reminiscing back to his favorite toys :) I love this. This is what you call a " throw back".
I saw this bit on the Goethe Institute live stream at the time. Great to see an extended version!
I genuinely love when Tim uploads a new video!
tim's videos really make my day. They're just so nice and remind you of the good childhood. Thanks man, keep it up.
This is a man, an old man, at the top of his majesty, entertaining millions of kids and grown kids as well. I feel like having myself one of the toys he showcased in his many videos.
That last one is perfect!
I want to buy a bunch
and stack them sideways in a closet
with the door, acting as the lid 😂
Costs like £600 though
Oh my god, and just kill whoever was unlucky enough to open the door of their own death in a never ending wall of solid color and patterns.
@@SkylontheWolf Exactly! 🤣😂
It’s been a long time since I actually had fun watching a video. Thank you Tim!
The thought of lil Tim saving up, all excited finally buy the cute anamatronic dog ❤
I was so damn excited when Tim pulled out the giant 'snakes in a can' trick. Always a treat.
He took out the one with eyes and all I could think about was the edit where it screams.
Thank you for the work you put into these videos, Cheers to all of you!
Going back through Tim's history? Or as I like to call it: Tim Travel!
Goodness me! good ol days boomer steampunk electronic toy, that dog still working fine all these decades.. electronics today quality won't last more than 6 years.
As usual - a jolly good show - thanks!
thanks for making videos tim, all this stuff is fascinating
Tim says in this video that his favorite toy is just his latest toy. This is how you never truly age. Thank you, Tim.
This guy lived through WW2, the Cuban Missile Crisis, The British Invasion (60’s Pop Music one not Revolutionary War), The Cold War, COVID-19, Kennedy assasination, Princess Diana’s death, Hiroshima, MLK assasination, Lennon’s assasination, The Time where Pluto was a planet, The Moon Landing, 911, and now has a RUclips Channel.
Protect this man at all costs.
Oh man I can't help but chuckle. How do they keep coming!
Woah, that snake in the box thing was amazing :D
I love how this is basically Tim’s origin story.
Brilliant as always!
Some toys look awesome, no matter what generation.

that last one ... the snakes in the tube ... is like the energizer bunny: it just keeps going and going. *amazing!*
This man is a legend.
People who can make me laugh on youtube are very rare. I only laugh cause Tim is so genuine as a person!
I swear, all these toys from the 20th century are criminally underrated artifacts.
Tim you did it again ole boy'o 👏 yet another great video
The endless spring is back!
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
That last one was excellent. I was really surprised how long it kept producing snakes!
What a fun timeline of some of the favorites in Tim's collection! 😊
How could you not love this guy?
When I read the video title I hoped for the big tube to appear. Never ceases to make me smile.
Joyful video - thanks for sharing.
We need more people like tim
Tim is loved world-wide; even if you ask your grandmother they will know Tim. You love him, I love him, we all love Tim!
Tim and his huge snakes in a can are priceless. He is a gift to the world.
When he put the eye hat on it reminded me of the thing from Pan's Labyrinth
I love this channel
That ashtray with cigars is a 👍
I have seen something similar on YT recently.
This video is like a "Tim's Greatest Hits" edition.
This dude is too precious, we have to preserve him
The 60s were astonishing.
2:08 so that's how you do it, we've been communicating with robots all wrong. All this time... he knew.
This one’s a masterpiece
Looking forward to the next episode, TIMS ADULT MAGS OF THE 60s
Tim is the coolest. Period.
Man I wish u were my relative. Your videos are so cool and genuine.
Me encanta el contenido que hace Tim, me parece sorprendente la gran cantidad de objetos que guarda. De grande quisiera ser como el.
Greetings from Germany.

Tim's fulfills the role of Mister Rogers.
Volume heads up~ 4:15 - 4:30 Mind your ears for high pitch 🙂
Lots of fun, thank you.
The tubes are life giving

In America, we call tumbling blocks “Jacob’s ladders”
I've also heard it called "Jacob's ladder."
also known as Jacob's ladder. this is what the movie jacob's ladder is about
Jacobsens organ
Youre awesome Tim!
Tim: today I published a new video
Me: a blessing from the lord
Love you old man.
Finally he’s back to the place
who would dislike a video like this...
love the last one.
Tim as a child: Ahhh children want to handle everything I must start a collection of toys now 🤣
Tim's face when the dog started to perform was so proud!
The fact these toys still work flabbergasts me.
I love his attitude
That cigar plate is trippy
0:10 "cameras running"
Well gosh, catch it before it gets away!
Not all have seen those toys in their childhood
That was great👍
If there's one historical lesson I learned from Tim's videos, it'd be post-world war Germany and Japan made most of the innovative and ingenious toys.
Love to see the return of the paper fish hat
Thanks!
The 17 people who disliked this video were responsible for clearing up the springy snakes
Tim is the man!
