Hi Guthrie, love your work. Try talking Uncle Larry, Jedd and yourself into bringing you guys to play here in Tom’s home of Cleveland. I will rent out the House of Blues which seats close to 2000 and I know we could sell it out. Plus we could plan a great event and simulcast it live. Randy from Tom’s home of Willowick
As ever Mr GT, you are such a breath of fresh air, not to mention a deep well of musical inspiration and much needed earnest and honest humanity. As a man of "a certain age", i find being around younger generations is great, and its wonderful that you are giving them experience (if its any consolation, my youngest son is very good at never putting things back). For what its worth, i live in rural Oregon, still working as a remote IT worker, but always pursuing music, working on our little ranch, getting out under these big western skies are a few of my pleasures. I am not qualified to call myself a guitar teacher, but more as a "guitar encourager", and have a number of younger players come by my little studio for some time for musical encouragement, no cost of course. They are such a delight to work with and keep me thinking young.
Im 49 and a school bus driver in Pensacola, during my break I just sit with the guitar and practice, I like playing on the weekends with my friends. I been playing since I was 12. I hope to come see you play at The Underdog during my Christmas break. -Jeff
What makes this man so special is that you need only hear a couple of bars and you definitely know it’s Guthrie. Same is true of Jimi, Jeff, Peter Frampton, BB/Albert/Freddie, Etc… the telltale sign of a virtuoso
Saw you at the underdog a few weeks ago when your folks and Billy were there. Really appreciate your guidance on this channel.... we all benefit from your playing. Puts new sounds in our heads. Thanks from Chicago.
You’ll be reaching the 100k mark before you know it. Still one of the best channels on RUclips. Been a follower for quite some time. You’ve been a huge influence, right down to the hats bro. Flat brim all the way for me too. 👌 I’m a welder by trade, work in the oil business up in northern Canada. Guitar has always been a great hobby of mine, brings me peace in these cold winters on my days off. I work 7 days on and 7 days off. Lots of time for the ol’ 6 string. Wish I could do it for a living. All the best to you Guthrie. You’re one hell of a player. 👌 ✊
GT! I could listen to that intro bit as long as you wanna play it! Really helping me unwind after a long night at work….. in my head on some things and your playing really helped me through the mental fog. 🙏 That’s what the best music and musicians do though, whether consciously or not they help us through whatever we’re going through.
I’m with you on the “put it back where you found it”. It drives me crazy. I’m really looking forward to seeing you and Uncle Larry live in Chicago on Feb 7.
One year Retired truck driver , practicing guitar at least 1 hour every morning after which I look to see if my favorite utuber has posted. GT , I’d very much like to get the full emergence . Would be cool to be the fly on the wall, while you tend your busy day. Thanks for sharing!
I have just finished a duo contract with my wife onboard the Viking Yi Dun ship in China for the past bunch of years Ive been a soloist onboard different cruise lines. Most recently Royal Carribean. Since watching you I realized how little I knew especially about lead playing. Still a work in progress! Thanks for all you do for us!! Hi from Indonesia at the moment
Guthrie, you’re very inspiring to me. Keep going. I used to be a high school English and U.S. History teacher, but I’ve always loved playing music more (guitar and bass). Currently I drive people around on Uber and Lyft in the Boston area. Figuring things out right now. Thanks.
Congrats on all your success this year GT! I got to see & meet you in August at 3rd & Lindsley with Buk! Thanks for sharing your guitar wisdom with us. Hope to see you Friday night at Uncle Larry's birthday gig! Peace
Hey Guthrie, thanks for all of the great videos. You're definitely one of the best in the business! I have a vintage automobile restoration shop where we do frame off restos on cars, trucks, and motorcycles. I still somehow manage to play around 75 plus gigs a year. I met you at my friend's studio a few years back, and you played guitar on three songs that I recorded. Randy Kohrs at Slack Key Studio. Thanks for the great content that you post. It's both educational and inspirational. Merry Christmas, pal. 🎸
To have a pro take the time to teach this stuff, (and I know there is a business aspect to this), really shows just how much GT loves to play and make great music. He doesn't have to do these vids. He could easily have it all going on without any of these RUclips offerings. But how wonderful is it that we get a chance to gain all of this knowledge not to mention hearing the great ideas and melodies that come about during these vids. You are a total blessing, GT! Hope you have a Happy, Healthy, Prosperous 100K+ New Year!!! 😉 Cheers one and all!!
GT .. your playing has sweetness and beauty .. I could listen to you forever. As for me, I'm a 75yr old retired electronics industry guy, Navy vet and college grad. My electronics career started after Navy, then college .. chance meeting with a guy, then a relationship with another led me to a 40+ year career as a Manufacturers Rep, being a partner in that Rep company with a large geographical territory in the Northeast and MidAtlantic. Through that I was able to indulge my music/guitar passion, having customers such as Dimarzio, Empirical Labs, Fuchs, Tech 21, PRS, Eventide, Alessandro, Hoshino and more. I've played in bands since I was 14, carried my trusty D18 with me during the Navy and helped put myself through college afterwards by playing in a good Country Rock band that was all the rage back then. I made enough on the weekends to eat for the week, GI Bill and another part time job as a truck driver paid the rest. I still occasionally get out and play. What a lifelong joy music has been for me. And, I'm still learning (a lot, thanks to you, Larry and Jack).
Thanks for the video, Guthrie. Really nice to see you bringing Tom and Ashley on the path in Nashville. I’m retired military…didn’t need a second career. So family and dogs, guitars, motorcycles.
Guthrie, I just got my first vintage amp. A 1965 Pro Reverb here in Tupelo. I believe this is a all original one owner. The gentleman passed away and his wife sold it. Man! It sounds so different and better than my off the shelf amps. The 2 and half chords I know won't do it justice.
Hello, Thanks for your videos. Just because you asked, I'm french, I watch you videos from south of France (a little village named Valbonne between Nice and Cannes) and, of course my main hobby is playing guitar. I'm 63 and I play for nearly 50 years and I keep on learning. So, again, thanks and keep up the good work. By the way, sorry for my poor english.
Earlier this year, I decided to finally do music full time after 20 years. I quit my somewhat crappy job, had some other shit happen, and now I DoorDash and learn from the master. Thanks GT.
I am a retired Scientist 77 years old. I've played for quite sometime, bass in a Blues Band. I have a Les Paul Studio. I would like to have a Telecaster but am on a fixed income so I have to maintain a budget. I am recovering from a Heart Attack that occurred around 14 weeks ago. I'm still recovering but getting stronger with each day. I worked for many years an Environmental Chemist. I'm originally from Estill Springs Tennessee and taught in Franklin at BGA for a couple of years. My sister lives off Hillsboro Rd. over toward Brentwood. I'm going to time my next visit with when you are playing in town where I can come and watch you play. Anyway, I love your method of teaching. I've played a long time without attaining a level I'm satisfied with. I've played long enough and tried many videos to know click bait. You tell the absolute truth. Ear, it's hard, Chords....ect.. You teach a lot in those few minutes. Anyway, you ask for us to tell a little about ourselves. so I did. Thank You!
Hope you feel better, man - might be something going around. I'm finishing up day 4 of severe sinus congestion and pressure. My head has felt 3 feet thick, but feeling much better this afternoon/evening. Thanks for all you do. You're a great player and teacher.
Banker here, Senior Vice President - Ag/Commercial Lending. My wife and I were at your show Dec 9th. I was the guy at the table that showed you the tickets we bought on-line.
Hey Guthrie, great teaching as always. Me, myself and I working as a graphic designer for a living and keep on telecasting from the south of Germany. Alongside my 91'Japan Tele into a Fender Princeton. Best setup that I had in years. Playing 2-3 shows every month. Keep going.
Hi GT, thanks for another video of golden guitar/musical technique! I'm 8 yrs into retirement after 33 yrs in the petroleum industry, working in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, I putter about now, riding my motorcycle, playing golf and trying to become a better guitar player, plus there's always something to do on this 7 acres of Northeast Texas dirt I now call home. I'm also a sponge watching RUclips videos GT, Uncle Larry, Jedd Hughes, Brett Papa, Jack Ruch, Justin Ostrander ...keep up the great work!!
Thanks so much Guthrie for all that you share here with us! Couldn't be happier for you that you are seeing such wonderful fruits appear from your labors. Don't worry too much about the grey, getting old is a privilege to be enjoyed and cherished 🙂 it sure beats the alternative anyway haha.
Hey Guthrie- I’m a furniture/cabinet maker, custom woodwork of all sorts, carpenter, shitty guitar player. I play in a duo with my wife doing mostly covers in small time joints, wineries, etc. Can’t wait to make it to Nashville and catch a gig of yours. I appreciate your teaching but seldom have time to practice as I would like. Merry Christmas from Wisconsin!
Doing audio repair for a production company here in town. Nowhere near as good as the wizard shops you’ve shown on the channel. Caught the show at the UD earlier. The oud addition was a real treat. Thanx!
Love it, not painting yourself into a corner, riding the wave. As for what I do? I've had a vast career, currently an IT guy. Two years ago, I picked up the guitar after a 20 year stall, vowed to learn fundamentals, took voice lessons, and haven't looked back.
Retired musician here. You could play a major scale and I would recognize your tone. Out of all the guys I’ve heard on RUclips, you have my favorite tone. And I know it’s not the equipment although that helps, it’s in your fingers and the way you pick.
Wait till the grey in the beard becomes dominant, and it's the few remaining bits of your natural colour that look out of place. Nobody told me that one! That aside, much appreciation for all the little nuggets of wisdom that you keep gifting us all. All the best.
Thank you, Guthrie 🙏🏻 The lessons and insights to your craft are much appreciated. I'm an electrician by trade. Currently unemployed, looking for that to change. If all goes well, i may be able to retire in 6 or so years. Other than that, I write some, sing, and play bass and guitar. Nothing too exciting...
Great rhythmic ideas! I'm really starting to focus on all these triads and their handposition now. To answer your question: I'm an electronic engineer (which is great if you want to repair your own stuff...), but mainly now I give technical advise (regarding cooling/heating of all kind of machines in all kinds of fields, medical, agriculture etc.), put our product range in the advise of course, make a quote and hopefully sell it ;) Hobby's of course playing guitar (for 30 years now!), a bit of harmonica, piano, drums. But guitar is the main thing. I also love the mixing/engineering side of music so I fool around in my home studio producing my own stuff and making covers. Besides that I love working on old cars, but unfortunately sold my '65 Chevy Impala 2 years ago (after 17 years of ownership). Cheers from The Netherlands!
I’m 22 years old and have my own house painting business in Milwaukee. Would love to be a full time musician but it’s tough out here. Work is work, but using that money to support my passion. Hopefully it’ll all work out someday. Can’t wait to see you guys in Chicago.
Hey Guthrie, I'm retired now, but I spent a number of years as a working artist in the cartoon biz in Los Angeles in all the studios there. Did a lot of teaching as well. After that a number of years in solar energy design. Now days I'm working on the house, and playing guitar...in and out of the pedal steel and piano too. Since you asked. Cheers!
I was scrolling the comments as the intro was playing. I happened to read your quote at the exact moment that I think Guthrie must have played the theme. I could "hear" the lyrics being sung. Thank you for a wonderful moment!
That Deluxe Reverb sounds perfect , not loads of distortion & you can add a Keeley MK3 for the gain . Thanks for the Latin inspired playing , I'm gonna work on it .
Hey, Guthrie . . . . the Tremulator was on during those first five min, no? The wobble/modulatrion with the Echoplex . . . .holy helL! Dylan Altman's friend from home 🙂
Love that guitar style Guthrie, apart from latin it also sounds like African bands. Those guys play freely with variety like that for hours. Not sure how much musical training they got, its probably all ear and tradition and bags of talent.
Thank you for the reminder on the new Halo. Been OOS for awhile, just placed an order for the new batch shipping next month. This is two you've hooked me on now, you're getting expensive, man.
Hi from Tokyo. Appreciate all the gold you put out for us to pick up Guthrie. Recruitment for the energy industry in Japan. Learning guitar for a couple of years. Planning on playing for at least half my life (grey hairs and all) and as I’m 48 already I’ve got a good 50 years of guitar left…. Hopefully. Any chance you’ll play in Tokyo in 2025?
I’d love to buy a live album that you and your trio records at the Underdog if you ever do one. Or a compilation of live recordings. You are doing something very special. From the upper Midwest.
Oh shit! My 15 yo thinks the house just cleans itself! Also, my young students have a hard time. understanding they have to accumulate experience. Technique, single line (scales), double stops, etc. are educating the ear! Enjoy your rants. Thanks! I've been a "creative" as long as I can remember (70 yo) patching together movement, music and visual arts without much financial success. But we managed to be comfortable. It's never been easy and I'm growing tired of the hustle; preferring napping to trying to get that next Franklin. Teaching mostly and producing less and less product each year/month. Best past-time is golf, whcih I also suck at but enjoy the hell of- mostly it's about the company we keep.
Im 32 years old, been a cook for many years, hoping to go to lutherie school in the near future and get out of the restaurant industry! Luckily neither make much money 😉
I hope GT doesnt get pissed for this. But after watching this Every GT fan needs to go back and watch" This is the secret to learnig guitar. The entire lesson is Gold, But please check out intro. It is insane. Eric Johnson on the Juice. Ya I did some juice way back. lol. Its a Jawdropper! Merry Xmas to all. And ty GT for videos. Please dont stop.
Guthrie don’t tell Uncle Larry I think you’re a better player. I’m an IT architect for a living and I really wish I could play guitar all day. I’ve been playing for 58 years. I’m trying to be a teacher for my retirement, that and maybe play the Golden Corral with my looper. I’d really like to do session work somewhere. I’ve never done it. My channel has recordings I’ve done with Logic and LUNA
The guitar community is so damn lucky we have a guy like Guthrie who shares his knowledge of all things guitar

Thanks for the great guitar help here and I downloaded In Stereo. It is not what i expected. It's crazy good!
Glad you're digging it! Thanks a bunch!

It’s the confidence in the tone. So much taste played with confidence.

Beer brewer by day, guitar slinger at night. Love the content!
It’s been a rough year but I’m thankful for everything I’ve learned from your generosity Guthrie. Thank you man
Thanks for the lessons this years GT. Your the best man!
My pleasure!
Thanks for playing at the christmas jam with Daniel, it was such an amazing night.

Hope you feel better, man - might be something going around. I'm finishing up day 4 of severe sinus congestion and pressure. My head has felt 3 feet thick, but feeling much better this afternoon/evening.
Thanks for all you do. You're a great player and teacher.
Thanks for the kind words, it means a lot!
Banker here, Senior Vice President - Ag/Commercial Lending. My wife and I were at your show Dec 9th. I was the guy at the table that showed you the tickets we bought on-line.
Loving the grey GT
At 8:00 you start riffing on that invaluable wisdom all musicians need to hear.
Another great day ahead after your input thanks Guthrie
Hey Guthrie, great teaching as always. Me, myself and I working as a graphic designer for a living and keep on telecasting from the south of Germany. Alongside my 91'Japan Tele into a Fender Princeton. Best setup that I had in years. Playing 2-3 shows every month. Keep going.

Sure do like the way you play Guthrie....
Your first segment when you just play is incredible. So full of ideas. Slow down to .7 , get out the tele and bliss out.

looking good and sounding great, thanks
Sounding killer as always man. And giving the people some great info - hope they’re playing attention
Appreciate it!
Very neat job!
Way cool Guthrie! See you at Martyrs!
Thanks!
Thank you Guthrie for your time and have a great Christmas and New year!
Appreciate the support!
Dang man, you are really freaking good!!
Thanks for the inspiration!!!
Thanks for watching!

I remember the first time Brett Papa was sitting on your coach. The connection between you two was obvious from the jump
Love and a Merry Christmas from CO GT!

All the best.
Thank you, Guthrie 🙏🏻
The lessons and insights to your craft are much appreciated.
I'm an electrician by trade. Currently unemployed, looking for that to change. If all goes well, i may be able to retire in 6 or so years.

You're awesome GT!

68 years old, retired from running music stores and pawnshops. Now, just enjoying life with the three G's, golf, guitars and gaming 😎
That Deluxe Reverb sounds perfect , not loads of distortion & you can add a Keeley MK3 for the gain .

Thank you for the reminder on the new Halo. Been OOS for awhile, just placed an order for the new batch shipping next month.
This is two you've hooked me on now, you're getting expensive, man.
Ha! Glad you’re digging these!
“The Hillbilly Halo”… I’m sitting here eating lunch and almost choked on my food 😂
Noodle time.
I’d love to buy a live album that you and your trio records at the Underdog if you ever do one. Or a compilation of live recordings. You are doing something very special. From the upper Midwest.
It’s in the works!
Demeter ❤
My kids never put anything back 😂 you and I share the same age. Believe me brother we are young old timers now😢
Hi Guthrie, any chance of seeing you play in Europe in the future? There are a lot of good venues in the Netherlands….
Listening to that intro and I thought Guthrie if ya ever need a gig you could simply play that stuff in a fine dining establishment.
It's a tough game, but I appreciate you sharing your story!
Im 32 years old, been a cook for many years, hoping to go to lutherie school in the near future and get out of the restaurant industry! Luckily neither make much money 😉
I like Otis Gibbs channel too.
We all do 👍
First _ Great playing and tips THX
Thanks for watching!
Kelley should make a signature pedal for you.
How did you bet sooo comfortable with the fret board? I have never seen you strugle
Your beard is not grey GT it’s got highlights. That’s what my barber tells me about my greying hair. Love your playing mate. Top stuff.
Sounds like a great plan, thanks for sharing!
Girlfriend? That will make you play better too 😊
