I think the same is true for the fishing tournament. When I was doing that I had 3 Rods breaking at the last fish and none earlier. Could be a coincidence though.

I just want each tool to have a meter below it to show how close it is to breaking. This was kind of done in the older games with the axe, as the axe's sprite had cracks on it when used a lot.
Yeah I'd be happy with a visual cue that the tool is "getting close" to breaking like maybe a chip starts to show when you only have 5 uses left or something.

If u are having trouble getting the golden shovel, here’s a quicker way to get it: -Get gulliver regularly once, and get the communicator parts -Time travel forward a day, enter the game, leave the game, and time travel back to the day u get gulliver -Repeat until u get the golden shovel
The shovel after 39 times hitting the rock or digging up stuffs.... actually won’t break if you hit the rock and there is something that comes out of the rock and the shovel won’t break...so keep it near your rocks and only use the almost broken shovel just for hitting rocks and it will never break...
One thing to note for the shovel is it will never break on rock hits that produce materials, it uses durability but never breaks. This means if you keep a seperate shovel for rocks you can use it forever without wasting your normal shovela durability.

I cannot count how many times I've caught Rainbow Fish, Guppies, Nibble fish, and Pale chubs I've caught, which are all one size below, and I JUST WANT THE PRETTY FISH MODEL TO BE ON MY DRESSER
I actually like how in new horizons they have breaking tools. Even though it’s annoying, it gives them more of a purpose to always be in store. In the other games, you would only buy one, then that’s it, unless you wanted a golden shovel and stuff, that’s the only time you would buy a new tool

instead of water cans breaking easily in acnh i wish you just had to refill them from a body of water, then maybe they break after a long time. like some tools should be more durable than others tbh maybe instead of making u buy a new fishing rod, maybe fish can actually break ur fishing line & u just have to buy more fishing line from timmy & tommy or craft it similar to fish bait, like you have to repeatedly tap A to pull a fish in but big ones like sharks can get away if you dont do it fast enough resulting in fishing line breaking or sometimes them just yanking the entire fishing rod into the water lol

It'd be interesting if someone tested, how many triggers or clicks it takes for each degree of tool like lvl. 1 wood, or the default stone lvl. 2. Kinda like a mincraft pickaxe for example a wooden one, would take 90 blocks until it breaks (last I remember)
i did some testing on trash island, and the flimsy rod caught 200 trash before breaking while the upgraded iron rod only caught 30 before breaking, so i think only the flimsy rod deteriorates based on what’s caught
Fun fact: using the shovel to hit rocks that gets you coal/money/etc will wear out your shovel, but never break it! HOWEVER, if you just hit a rock that has already been mined, it does count as losing 1 durability. So for example, a flimsy shovel can be used 40 times. Say you dug up 38 trees and now you wanna mine a rock. You only have 2 hits left so naturally you’d think hitting it with your current shovel would break it while you’re mining the second coal/stone/etc. But it turns out it will never break during those 8 hits, even tho it does wear it out. So here 38+8 = 39; it will stuck at one more usage before breaking. If you keep using that shovel to only mine rocks, it will never break unless you screw up and hit a mined rock.
