Hitting the buzzer reduces the chance they get to see him, so they kept him in the prerecorded competition knowing he would be fine, and also knowing they got to witness a master in the making every show

they kept him in to give him more stage time aka more exposure. Which for a comedian, means they get to grow their personality and show more of the world exactly what they're like so talent agents and producers can reach out without risk.

it's hard to have comedy set up for such a long time, especially when it is unique every show.

I’ve always thought that each act deserves to be given more time for the LIVE shows. (Not to mention the fact that by that point, there are much fewer contestants in the competition. So giving more time to such a small batch doesn’t seem like it’d be an issue.) 🤷🏻♀️

@@RobinsMusic usually with talent shows people come prepared with a second joke/set of jokes like how a singer would have more then 1 song prepared as a back up song. He probably just grabbed one from his back up set which is why he stuttered a bit at the start of the joke and then because he practiced it beforehand. Or it could've been sin e he'd been doing comedy for 8 years at that point so he had 1000s of jokes and just chose one of his favourites/best, To be a good comedian, you have to be quick on your feet with jokes when unexpected things happen which can make things funnier.

I really don't watch comedy and I just have trouble sitting and listening to things but holy crap, Preacher Lawson is my ALL-TIME favorite comedian in the world.
Ok…I’ve seen Preacher Lawson a few times on AGT, so I was familiar with his act, but wow….he really has it goin! You can’t help but laugh! I don’t know how he could keep that kind of energy up for 3 minutes let alone a full show! Kudos to the talent he has!
