- International super group PEARL JAM cancel their Tottenham Stadium gig a day before they are due to play.
The only gig in the capital on the tour.
With reports of poor ticket sales, after Ticketmasters disastrous pricing. And failing to sell the venue out.
Eddie falls ill again in the UK. Wishing him a speedy recovery.
But, with no Rescheduled date on the horizon. It’s time to ask. Do Pearl Jam care about their fans anymore? Multi millionaires in their own right. All approaching 60 years old. Is it time to give up touring?
This tour has been plagued with fan complaints of exorbitant ticket prices. Pearl Jam used to stand up for the little guy. Does it still do this?

Mate in Manchester this week Eddie was struggling with his voice and the crowd sang a lot of the stuff for him, mentioned he’d picked up a bug when in Ireland. If it has got worse than it was mid week then you’d have been going to a gig with no vocalist. I totally agree that the prices were outrageous but you can’t help illness. As you say they are approaching their 60s now not 20 somethings that can just get through it. (Ps I’m writing this only a few mins into the vid so don’t actually know what you’ve said yet)
Steve. I have no doubt Eddie isn’t well. But there is no denying the ticket sales for this gig haven’t gone as well as they would have hoped. I believe this to be a convenient cancellation.
Also. No rescheduling is just shitting all over people. I’m utterly disgusted by the contempt.
Accommodation. Travel. Fees. All non refundable. Leaving people £100’s out of pocket.
@@ScottReviewsThingsanother thing that pissed me off - merch queue in Manchester was massive so didn’t bother but really wanted the t shirt with the bee on it. I have Manchester’s bees tattooed on me as the Ariana Grande gig holds bad memories for me being a Manc and knowing people there. It just signifies a lot - so a PJ T-shirt with the bee on it - would have loved one. Bastards selling them on eBay for about £80 now!

@ScottReviewsThings I thought they were struggling to sell manchester out too but it was packed. There would have not been many empty seats for tomorrow, I looked at ticketmaster Thursday and the avaliable seats were scattered across highest tiers. There is no way it was convenient for them to cancel at all.
So they should get a refund for singing and doing Eddie's part...🤔🤣
Tour was originally to take in two nights at the o2 arena. The switch to Spurs was fairly last minute.
Ticket prices - horrendous for us but, on date of sale, the price of a PJ ticket was the same to within a tenner whether or not it was London, Auckland, Sydney, Missoula, or New York. They could have been honest and said we want you all to pay the same and that they don't care about cost of living anywhere.
As for their attitude, I think the new management are largely to blame, Kelly Curtis got stuff wrong but never on this scale.
I have been to 100s of concerts, and I mean 100s, a few festivals too across the world. The most I have ever paid for a concert ticket was £180, I have paid over £100 numerous times for certain tours and for the most part, you can see the difference in the production.
A friend of mine has introduced me to a few local venues in Bristol (my local area) and there are a lot of local up and coming bands with incredible talent, some tickets are under a tenner playing at independent venues, some maybe up to £15.
I know where my money will be going, up and coming bands, independent venues that don't charge a fortune for tickets and merchandise. I can't recommend people enough, find some local and independent venues and check out some new bands, you won't regret it!
Remember the big bands you are fans of today did not get anywhere without the support when they were less known.
It’s a real shit sandwich this one. Just arrived in London after flying down from Scotland. Flights, hotel paid for etc…. I understand sickness in bands but this is the last 3 tours now this has happened. The one in the O2 you mentioned, they then cancelled much of the Gigaton tour after Paris (lucky like you to see them in Hyde Park) and then this…. Real shame for it to keep happening cause I would be nervous booking to see them again now after all these….
The ticket pricing was all wrong. Way too high and surprising for a band like PJ to agree to this or allow it to happen. I’d bought seated tickets costing just under £160…. I didn’t even know that Ticketmaster had then reduced the cost of these until yesterday. That can’t be right to do…. By all means, cut the prices but at least then if they’re doing that, give partial refunds to the poor sods who stuck their hands into their pockets in the first place. All a bit moot now anyways….
Don’t doubt that Eddie is sick but this whole London show and the ticket fiasco has not been a good look for the band. Wishing they would put things right but don’t see it happening now….
Funnily enough we were talking about ticket prices for gigs at work yesterday. My colleague was wanting tickets to see the Fugees and tickets were £155....Meanwhile I go to techno raves and a ticket costs between £6-£20. I think it varies massively dependent on the popularity ofc but I really don't think any gig is worth over £50.
I don’t mind paying for something Harry. But I’m not being ripped off. Now whether it’s Ticketmasters dynamic pricing policy or whatever. People are been caned for prices. And it stinks. I’m not laying all of the issues at pearl jams door. But when you cancel with a day to go. Something stinks.

You can’t help illness, but thank god I chose Manchester. Already had two gigs cancelled in the past, London and flew to Vienna which was cancelled when we got to the door. Ticket prices were outrageous. Did I pay £160… yes ! First time standing, and for me who has been a fan as long as you it was worth it. Wouldn’t pay that again though
Pearl jam is so energetic and passionate at their live shows and I think the absolute biggest thing they need to concentrate on is that they need to take much more time in between each show...i know thats hard to do especially internationally but its not like they couldn't do it or couldn't afford to do it.
Screw them. I am done. Just sticking to smaller bands at great local venues now. Staggeringly Good and Wedgewood Rooms have some great stuff coming up.
There are many contributing factors as to why this has happened, it could be the band, if Eddie is ill, then there’s nothing that can be done. TM certainly have something to do with it, I highly suspect Tottenhams own management have got something to do with it.
The prices have deffo got some input, the fact that Green Day are playing Wembley same day must have something to do with it.
The merch sales continuing could just be an error or the merch company themselves just trying to get back some of their own costs (just speculation)
Pink sold out 2 nights at the same stadium with prices HALF the cost of PJ’s !
My friend and I are now going to Green Day tomorrow and picked up a couple of tickets from Viagogo and they were STILL CHEAPER than PJ’s face value.
No stadium in London would be able to host PJ in a months time or so, too close to the start of the season (maybe Wembley but Taylor pretty much lives there at the moment)
Milton Keynes bowl could have hosted easily.
When PJ headlined Reading Festival back in 06, Eddie said ‘this band don’t come over here anywhere near enough to deserve this kind of reception’ They were magnificent that night.
There is a huge scandal somewhere and I can’t help feel that the venue has something to do with it.

I feel your pain Scott, i'm seeing AC/DC next weekend at Wembley, seated ticket prices (albeit up in the gods) were 70 odd quid, reasonable pricing i thought.
Exactly what I would expect to pay mate to be fair. We went to see Pearl Jam in Hyde Park 2 years ago. All day event. £80 each. How can £280 for a standing ticket be reasonable?

Another issue was the fact they were way too late announcing the tour with Glastonbury, green day on this weekend and foos etc just finishing (for reasonable prices)
Just adding my 2p worth, TM do not dictate the prices at all. The band set the majority of the amounts, promoters add an amount to cover their costs, as do TM. The TM cut is small fry in comparison.

Cancelled o2, but rescheduled. Went to Prague after flights were cancelled, had to go via Milan and then this was cancelled. London cancelled for today so hoping for Barcelona next week. Wales have been missed out for many years too despite having the best stadium 🏴
Im in Wales and usually do a European trip when they're in Europe but booked London this time. Paid £150 each for 2 tickets front standing on day of release. I was lucky to get most of my hotel money refunded despite it being non cancellable. If he's ill, he's ill. It's probably a minor blessing that they didn't play to a half empty arena and hopefully they'll learn lessons pricing wise going forward. But I'm sure there's no conspiracy and they'd not have cancelled unless they had to.
That's terrible how they treated the Pearl Jam tribute band. I go and watch a Fleetwood Mac tribute band called Rumours Of Fleetwood Mac and for me they sound as good if not better than Fleetwood Mac and the tickets are a lot cheaper 👍

I booked tickets for hyde park which got cancelled to covid. Then today got the news that tomorrow's cancelled as well. Not sure if i want to buy tickets if they tour the uk again in fear of cancelling a gig. Shame. Just wanna see them play
I saw L7 in the electric ballroom on June the 15th, they killed it and the prices were fair. They sold out instantly because of it, but the show was amazing. Got 2 signed vinyls - was for my birthday - they have always treated the fans with love

They have a month between last European and next America gig your not telling me that they could find a stadium or arena to reschedule. I paid £340 for 2 rear standing tickets. My mate paid £101 for 2 seating today. They took £325 in merchandise off my mate today at 1220 he found out it was cancelled as he walked out of the shop. One guy bought tickets I read in the fan pages this morning sat in the gods for £2 + £3 booking fee, but these were £157 on day one of them going on sale. Eddie did sound bad in Manchester though.

Bulgaria with my wife and son. Paid gladly plain tickets, hotels and the absurd ticket prices (all x3) just to finally make one 30 year old dream happen. Was super exited about in for months. Today I woke up with the cancellation of both Berlin days … seriously, how sick you must be to dare to cancel 3 shows in a row ?!?! I don’t think I will be able to keep the same love for that band any more… that sucks big time 🤬

Unfortunately, if something has value these days, say a million quid - you bet your bottom dollar that some really flipping smart people will find a way of getting money out of you.
Something that is (music aside) really annoying me at the moment is "stranglehold supermarket shopping" eg. Pepsi and Coke upping the price of their drinks purely because they're the leader and there's no real comparisons to those products that taste as good. It's morally unethical, but unfortunately it's what happens when rich people want to get richer.
It would have been a cool opportunity to use the crowd at this gig to "replace" Eddie Vedder's voice - that's better than cancelling the entire gig.
But yeah, if a band "charges" £100k for a show, most bands other than the 1%, will only see £10k all in post - show. It's all tied up in management, travel, equipment logistics, record labels, venue costs, and stuff that makes the actual show happen in the first place.
Being in several bands previously, I've played for free, after being told before hand we would be paid £50. The music industry is brutal.

Completely agree. I rejected the price of the tickets when they were £155. Got some at about £70. Had it gone ahead, would’ve been so annoyed if I’d paid full whack. Really disappointed with PJ (and I’ve been a fan since 91 and I’ve see them live about a dozen times).

I'll be pissed if London turns out to be the only cancelled show. Eddie being ill is one thing - i totally sympathise and don't blame them at all for making a health based decision. But if they're fine to do Madrid and Berlin and wherever else and just London got shafted, I'll be pissed then. You're right that there's a big enough window for some kind of rescheduling.
I think that’s the problem. If they make a sudden miracle recovery there surely must be questions asked.

Mate I was in Manchester. I agree with every word. Also foxy mop are playing Camden . Get down there everyone. They have the best singer I've ever heard. You spoke my feelings about selling merch today I went and I was disgusted so were many. So on the forum I'm getting roasted for saying word for word what you just said. Ed was fucked in manc and even said I can feel I'm doing damage singing and went on to sing solat evolution and many voice heavy. Songs. Surly play slight of hand. Strangest tribe and as many slow ones . Stone do a couple Jeff do sweet Lew they could have made that one of the best shows instead ed went full balls and blew his voice. Berlin 2 nights in a row won't happen. They will do 1 night and same will happen. Keep up the honest work mate

@@ScottReviewsThings yeah, I dunno. Probably because the venue is only available over the summer (as a football venue) and with what else is booked in that venue and their schedule it’s not feasible.
I never wanted it there, it’s a shit venue for music, hard to get to/from and I think their new management have fucked up with pricing.
I’m going to both Berlin shows (if they happen) and neither are well sold, same for Barcelona.
Hopefully this stops them from gouging next time.
One thing though - front standing for all shows were £160ish, not £280. Those were 5% of the tickets that they call “premium”. It’s still bollocks, and a fucking rip off, but 95% of standing were £160.

Hi Scott, I can certainly relate and agree with everything you said. The ‘big’ artists really don’t give a shit and are out if touch with reality.
I had a similar occurrence with Adele (sorry to compare her to Pearl Jam, or anyone for that matter). Booked tickets for my Wife’s birthday, spent hours in the virtual queue online and was stoked to get 2 tickets at Wembley Stadium for £130 each in 2018 (I think).
She pulled out the day before the concert, having forked out for train and hotel tickets. Like you have experienced here, the gig was ‘cancelled’, not rescheduled. We lost our booking & P&P / service charge fees (why the fuck do these bastards charge anything for ‘service’ when they’re downloads???😡😡.
I didn’t realise Adele had history of this and she has done it many times since, which just proves our point, they really don’t give a flying fuck.
We spent the night in London and had a nice time (I was also spared Adele), but obviously my Wife missed out.
I fucking despise her now (Adele, not the Wife 😀).
