- Last week. LIDO released their Perlenbacher FESTBIER in a 5 LTR mini keg.
I sent Simon of Real Ale Craft Beer a text telling him to buy one. He has returned the favour all week telling me to invest in one. So I have.
£14.99 is a lot to shell out. So is it worth it? Is Simon right? Is the INCREDIBLE keg of beer he says?
Let’s find out.

Yeah ok I’ll take your advice 🤣
I thought he was quite funny
No no no. Colon says I’m not funny. That’s the end of it 🤣
I’ve also pinned colons comment for the absolute embodiment of positivity it brings.
@@ScottReviewsThings you are hilarious mate! For one you said this beer was good! 😊
Great to hear you’re getting on with Simon. Well played both of you 💪. Great review my man. Stay hydrated 😎
A good watch Scott I enjoyed that, it's one of those beers bit like Pringles, once you pop you cant stop. Enjoy the rest of it with the England game this evening, Cheers
Cheers mate. Terrific beer this one.
I found the carbonation absolutely perfect. Small bubbles. Perfect carbonation for me. Went down a treat. Knocked the whole thing back on fathers day after having a keg of the perlenbacher 4.9% the day before. 2 completely different beers
No hangover whatsoever either. Went for a 5k jog Monday morning
I think this is great for the price. Someone worked out I think it was £1.68 a pint. Cant go wrong for that price can you.
5L is 8.7 pints which is about £1.70p per pint which for a 5.5% beer is an excellent price!
That even beats Wetherspoon real ale beer value prices!
My local Lidl had a shelf full of these kegs and I think I will invest in a couple more especially with the England game this afternoon. 🙂
Nothing wrong with that head, it’s Germanic in proportions mighty and fine ! If this is the same as their other festbeer I’ve tried in the past it should be good.
Its a good idea to close the vent in between drinks (in my experience) I think it helps it stop going flat so fast. I might go get one, I can spend the money but its just a case of whether I can drink 5 litres of 5.5 percent (27.5 units) within 3 days max. I just know by the last litre, it will be a bit flat and I will be a bit bored of it. Great value for money at 15 quid tho.
Just on a can of this now while watching. Agreed, not bad at all. Got a keg for the weekend. 15 notes is a no brainer.
Nice one mate. I need to pick two can up for a video if I can get em.
I've had those kegs before if you get them very cold and drink them quickly not too bad but lots of froth and goes flat quite quickly
Didn't pick one of these up, but my Lidl were selling 4 bottles of St. Feuillien blonde for £6.99. A great beer at a great price. I filled my basket up. They also had one called Crius Blonde which I'd never heard of, but was rather nice, too.
Will give this a go 👍 Loving the Tee! Will be catching Eddie and co on the 29th! 🙌
Yes mate. We will be there as well.
I tried a can last night watching the Scotland game, really liked it, going to get some more on the way home from work today.
I’m picking a couple of the cans up too. At that price can go wrong can you. Cheers.
Hey Scott, I bought one and followed the instructions. First pour was good, so was the second but after that the beer was all flat. Is that because I left the valve open? Is it because I opened the valve twice? How many days should it last in the fridge once opened and still have good sparkles? What about that valve?
Yes I wondered the same, I closed the valve after pouring but by day three it tasted more acidic to me.
@@danjf yeah I reckon it’s a party beer. Probably good over an evening.
Digging the Pearl Jam T-shirt. You have fine taste in music good sir 👍
Are you going to Manchester or London?
Its really great the likes of the smaller channels like yourself and also some of the other dying RUclips channels are promoting simons channel so fantastically well its really a great channel and his channel is really growing 👏 keep up the good work 👍
Simon doesn’t need shout outs from me mate.
@@ScottReviewsThings fair comment
I enjoyed this in a can and glass combo didn’t see this in my local if they start shipping the cans in 4x pack then it would fly off shelves 👍🍺😀
Absolutely agree mate.
The Festbier keg is absolutely beautiful beer I even bought 2
It’s terrific isn’t it. Cheers.
Just Demolished one over 3 days! I found to leave it out of the fridge for 1 hour. Spot on you can't go wrong.£1.68 p per pint. What is not to like. 🍺🍺👍
My new favourite lager. It’s so morish! Is 5.5% OK for a session beer? 😂
Picked up a bottle of Spaten in the North End Lidl yesterday. Very good. £2 a bottle. Cheers 🍺👍
Didn’t think I’d hear that you and Simon are on talking tems😂
I’ve had this keg years ago lovely stuff
Hey Neil. We had a private conversation towards the back end of last year. Put a lot of the nonsense behind us and agreed we can co exist without all the nasty stuff.
@@ScottReviewsThings fair play mate no point baring grudges is there
Can't find this in Lidl only have the Perlenbacher
😞
I’m off to get one tomorrow now
Nice one
It's easier to work out if you use 500ml glasses, it's ten of them @ £1.50 each. But if you want to use pints, it's 8.8 pints at £1.70 per pint ...
Cheers Sid.
Have to look into german Lidl this week... Maybe I get the glass/bottle combination...Although the keg is ideal for the EURO 2024 - watching with friends...🤔
Scott, is the glass of a decent standard?
Lidl's a bit of trek for me but fancying the glass if it's decent
So this isn’t the glass that comes with the Pernlenbacher pils but is similar and is worth the trek mate.
@@ScottReviewsThings cheers pal
Scott do they also have it in the cans? Would rather try a can first before getting the keg.
@@danielpaveley9263 hi Daniel yes mate if you’re quick. £1.49 or £1.79 I think.
@@allyup3404 just an update there's 8.8 pints in 5 litres, so it works out at £1.66 per pint.
8.83 pints from the keg mate ! 👍
I’d had a long day at work. And that’s my excuse 🤣
Got me one yesterday 😊
Nice one mate.
Can't get one of these as they sold out 😮
Ahhh we missed the best bit! U didnt show us the pour 😔
The trouble is. I don’t have my phone screen facing me. I like to be like I’m actually talking to YOU and not myself. If that makes sense. As some it is clear they are talking to their own picture on screen. Subsequently I didn’t know you couldn’t see the pour. Which I only became aware of editing the video. I do apologise hopefully the beer in the glass is a good indication of the pour
Cheers.
Scott.
Is the Oktoberfest already? 😆
You’ve got to drink it in 1 though. Already flat by breakfast the next day. 😢
I have had kegs do that. I guess I will find out later how flat this is 🤣🤣🤣
I just bought the cans instead. Pretty sure it’s exactly the same and the same price per ml too.
I'm obviously late to a different party; when did you make your peace with Simon?
We had a private conversation at the back end of last year. Think we both agreed it was easier to co exist than the constant sniping.
I bought one and it was shite!
Well. We can’t all like the same can we. 🍺🍻
I thought you didn't get on with Simon?
We had a private conversation at the back end of last year. Putting an end to all the nastiness. So much easier to co exist than have the stress of the hate and haters.
Hope that makes sense.
Cheers.
I really enjoyed the keg on the first and second days but after that and still with over half the keg left I felt it had lost its smooth, refreshing taste. So very nice beer but not much good for a single drinker home (if you are not a big drinker)
I think that’s a very fair assessment mate. Same as here. On day 3. Flat and a bit lifeless. Bit like this channel. 🤣
@@ScottReviewsThingsHaha not at all.. have another subscriber!
Worst game of Simon says ever.
🤣🤣🤣
