There is also the ability for them to be pushed back through the inguinal canal if they take a substantial hit. I had this happen after a motorcycle crash where I hit the gas tank with my groin. My left testicle went back through the inguinal canal where they sit before they descend in puberty. The doc pushed hard on my lower abdomen and it popped right back out. No lasting damage and everything works fine.
I knew about the trick from a video by french youtuber Farod, where he talked about his experience with testicle pain. I think it's a really important thing to know of, since it can help self-diagnose testicular torsion and could save people from getting their ball chopped off.

As a survivor of testicular cancer I wish you had mentioned how common it is, and how to self examine, similar to women checking for small tumors in their own breasts. It is slightly uncomfortable mildly painful to self check for testicular cancer, which usually occurs in younger men, even teens.
This is like the time when I asked my friend what's the weather outside, and he came back after few weeks, and explained me how the moon effects storms.

Short explanation: No we can’t manually, the “nads” shrink up closer to the body or dangle down all on their own. As a survivor of testicular cancer I wish you had mentioned how common it is, and how to self examine, similar to women checking for small tumors in their own breasts. It is slightly uncomfortable mildly painful to self check for testicular cancer, which usually occurs in younger men, even teens.
