    I'm working on kimura from guard right now, and having some trouble sinking it in. This vid gives me some ideas of things I can try this evening. Thanks, guys.

    • @VelhaGuardaTricolor
      @VelhaGuardaTricolor 6 лет назад

      Wrong Pal! Don't get ideas from this VID, instead simply perform the move exactly as it was demonstrated. Step by step. If you are going to try some things it means you did not pay enough attention to the VID.
      Take care!

    LOL at the kid who asks him to turn around..........Rener almost seemed to be thinking......"Oh God kid we're shooting a video, it's not all about you"
    What did W.C. Fields say about being upstaged by children?
    Ya gotta love Rener. He's the best.

    The real difference between Gracie Jiu-jitsu and forms of Jiu-jitsu (including Judo) is in the teaching methodology. It's essentially the difference between John Locke and John Nash. It's a difference in game theory and it's significant.

    That was a nice move i like that technique a lot i was just practicing the riding variation of the kimura. This one is nice too. Thank you for the post and keep up the good work.

    Great teacher, he knows how to explain why, but even better, he know how to explain why not.

    @SkemeKOS there was no founder,carlos learned judo and then started to adapt it along with helio and the entire family over the nexr 80 yrs or so.

    What a fantastic opportunity for the children to see and learn from them. Would it be interesting to know if any of the kids are wearing a black belt today?

  • @lallope
    @lallope 16 лет назад +1

    Really nice. i love to see those kids fighting in play ground.lol. kimura left his name with a judo move.Don't get me wrong I have the greatest respect for ne waza. Mr. Shina ,8th dan, of japan judo taught us first and foremost as juniors that we were to never try these techniques in anger. they were to be used only as a last resort in a situation where we were forced to fight. Kids will be kids. Even I as a kid wondered how well it would work in a real fight. responsibility is key. respectfully

    I remember watching this about 13 years ago. I still see little things I can add to my technique. One thing I would recommend with the kimura is using a monkey grip when finishing not a "C" grip.

    • @NoBody-ro3xj
      @NoBody-ro3xj Год назад +1

      If you are "pushing" don't you use a C grip? "Pulling" a monkey grip?

    • @MackTrainingAcademy
      @MackTrainingAcademy Год назад

      @@NoBody-ro3xj You can but that isnt a hard rule. I use my palm to push so I dont need the thumb. The reason I recommend the monkey grip, thumbless, is because a strong guy can do a tricep extension and pop your thumb from there. Ask me how I know.
      I start the grip grabbing with a C grip for control but once I establish the figure 4 I switch to a monkey grip.

  • @darkbeam912
    @darkbeam912 16 лет назад

    The reason why is proble for a couple of reasons. 1. You might be leaving to much space in the guillotine. Remember to look upwards and make it tight! 2. If it is not in a good grip people tend to escape better that way so if there is a chance to escape why tap? Like I said make sure its tight!!! 3. The reason why they most likely tap more often with the kimura is that they know you have it and they can feel the pain of there arm getting bent into the wrong direction and they know it will break!

  • @tonytocanova
    @tonytocanova 16 лет назад +1

    I'm not sure why but some people just don't tap when i put them in guillotine, it maybe just my poor guillotine grip but this kimura is more effective i think...

    @theflyingpharaohmido The reason they call it Gracie JJ is not because of the techniques but more because of their teaching method. All of this is essentially Kodokan Judo with a few added sweeps and guards (De La Riva sweep/guard, Rubber Guard, etc). They teach the techniques of Judo/BJJ but their method of teaching is GJJ. Royce clearly explains the difference in this video:

    @Tarius729 its an offshoot of judo not jujitsu,the gracies never learned any jujitsu and neither did maeda.

    @SkemeKOS we dont know thats why you shouldnt say that a particaular person is the founder
    dude dont get me wrong the gracies are legends they introduced jiu jitsu to the world but helio didnt found jiu jitsu he was a student who earned his black belt from his master how could he be the founder
    this game evolved through out hundreds of years and is still evolving seriously the japaneses are the ones to thank for this great art who names a martial art after his family name anyway?!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @scarred10
    @scarred10 13 лет назад

    @JordyBT wrong,helio never even met maeda,he was too young,carlos learned judo ,not juijitsu from maeda and later taught all the other brothers.You are also confusing helio with his own son royce

  • @scarred10
    @scarred10 13 лет назад

    @Tarius729 thats right ,he adapted it,he started to use sparring as the main training method so discarded the crap that didnt work,thats why judo works and japjitsu doesnt so well for most people.They were calling it jujitsu but it wasnt,jujitsu had virtually no sparring,little to no groundwork(due to battlefield needs),it was trained via 2 man compliant forms like it still is in japan.

  • @theflyingpharaohmido
    @theflyingpharaohmido 14 лет назад

    @beatjugglez ofcourse he is not the founder
    thats what i was saying
    the guy is a LEGEND no doubt about it
    but he is not the founder
    he learnt jiu jitsu in brazil like many others and then came to america
    he made it popular in america
    but it comes from brazil
    i mean he received his black belt from his master how could he be the founder?!
    he was a student
    still MUCH RESPECT
    now if u go to brazil they dont like the gracis that much because the keep saying that they are the founders.

    @ luizinho81 in the 80s before the ufc era they did also i do mma let me tell you someone on top of u hitting you and you dont know any ground fighting /techniques your just going to get your face smashed in also there are good gracie fighters in mma fighting isnt just about a punch a kick a knee a elbow and as for bruce he said be formless like water ? you say mma have real experts in all these arts ? mma isnt 1 art its a mix and what did any gracie do to those with one art beat them with subs

    learn judo wrestling jiu jitsu learn everything bro
    there are no founders there are no limits

  • @theflyingpharaohmido
    @theflyingpharaohmido 13 лет назад

    @SkemeKOS whatever man there is no point of arguing with you really helio is a great master but he didnt invent the techniques he was just a student 95% of todays bjj came from judo

  • @theflyingpharaohmido
    @theflyingpharaohmido 13 лет назад

    @SkemeKOS dude please just dont talk about stuf you dont know ask any guy from brazil and he would tell you the gracies learnt the game from the japaneses and said we founded this WTF
    history is history you cant change history helio didnt found shit he did innovate some techniques and he is agreat jiu jitsu practiocioner dont get me wrong but if it were like that then eddie bravo founded jiu jitsu also did ryan hall

  • @theflyingpharaohmido
    @theflyingpharaohmido 14 лет назад

    @beatjugglez ok
    i agree
    but u have no idea how many guys do i run into who believe that helio gracie is the founder of bjj
    and the online tests thing?!!!!!
    they give belts online!!!!!!!
    i send them a video
    and they give me the belt
    now thats not jiu jitsu thats BUISNESS
    again the only raeson im sayin this is because they are good teachers and i want them to be better!
    one more thing that pisses me off
    DONT HATE!
    they keep dissing eddie bravo
    thats not sportsmanship!

  • @TheBmike1

    @ luizinho81 have you never seen the early ufc ? not real fighters ? ken shamrock not a real fighter and jodo champ Remco Pardoel and art jimmerson the boxer arnt real fighters ???? what you on about they where all trained in single arts and you clearly dont watch mma then if you say they get dominated ? all so before the ufc mma era the gracies dominated every art they fought with the ufc that they came up with they made people realize the importance of ground fighting

  • @theflyingpharaohmido

    PLEASE STOP SAYING GRACIE JIU JITSU
    PLEASE IT IS BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU
    UR GRANDFATHER WASNT THE ONLY ONE PRACTICING IT
    THEY WERE FEW WHO WERE TAUGHT BY THE JAPANESE
    NOW THE BRAZILIANS DID IMPROVE AND EVOLVE THE GAME
    SO U CALL IT JIU JITSU OR BJJ BUT NO WAY GJJ
    MUCH RESPECT THOUGH
    I LOVE THE GRACIS BUT IT JUST PISSES ME OFF WHEN U MAKE UP A NAME
    IT IS BECOMING BUISNESS NOW
    U GUYS ARE GREAT TEACHERS TEACH FOR THE PASSION OF TEACHING NOT FOR THE MONEY U MAKE ONLINE TESTS?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
