I don’t think she is underrated as a vocalist, she’s just not a prolific songwriter and producer. Mariah isn’t just an incredible singer she has her finger on the pulse of culture and is up there with the Beatles and Elvis.

I remember seeing Tori "guest perform" from time to time on award shows, BUT then nothing else. I forgot about her and didn't even know she won any Grammy awards. I always thought she was beautiful and obviously talented, but I did feel she was missing something that I couldn't quite put my finger on (AND IT IS NOT HER SHOWING MORE SKIN!). I think she comes off as an "old soul" like she would have been MORE successful in another time period in history from the past. Also, although her voice IS very good, I don't know that she inspires me enough that I would go out to buy her album or want to see her perform in concert. At the end of her performances---I sort of see myself politely clapping and acknowledging her "good performance", but that is kind of it. With a Whitney, a Mariah, a Celine, etc., etc. --they had this "IT factor" that grabbed you when you heard them sing. It made you stop in your tracks and go: "WHO IS THAT???". You wanted to hear them sing again & again---you lived for their performances. I do not get this with Tori. I do not know exactly why. I do hope she continues to go for her dreams & experiences success as a performer.
