have had the true honor to see watt live and talk with him several times at first avenue, 7th street entry and turf club..was also surprised to see one of our spiels in his tour diary!... how he remembers these conversations after talking to so many fans is unreal...righteous man can't wait to see again
Thank you Robert for the story. I do have one more show that I shot that isn’t on this doc. It’s actually a Missingmen gig in the Entry. Please subscribe to not miss out when it’s uploaded. Thanks
+Bill Draheim I'm gonna check out all of your stuff I can find. this was one of the greatest documentaries both in subject and editing. This film has sent me on another music discovery tangent! thank-you
The is RIGHTEOUS!! Thank you so much! I was at the Entry show and I remember reading about the filming on Watt's online tour journal (along with the speakers blowin' up, the speaker falling on his foot, Eden factory trip, etc.). MN Hat Trick Tour! Love Watt! Thanks again, Bill! As Watt would say, "much respect!"
We opened for Watt & Il Sogno del Marinaio last Saturday. Unforgettable experience. He's such an incredible musician and sweet, humble person at the same time.
Mike talks of a young fan that knew of music that influenced him - The Stooges....stuff I at age 58 know nothing about....I am that young fan in reverse!
Just saw Watt + Jom and Terry on May 2, 2017, in Denver. Wonderful show. Watt smacked the bass so hard that the pickup came loose. A roadie came on stage with a screwdriver and fixed it. Watt also stopped in the middle of Red and the Black and chastised the drummer for being off time. They started back up and killed it.
What a trip it would be to do these van tours then get the Gig with the Stooges for a few years and go out with the trucks and the buses only to have to get home and dust off the van for next tour.
Makes me miss Duluth. Lived across the border in Thunder Bay for a while. 3 hour drive. Duluth was way nicer town to hang out in. Cross over the bridge to Superior WI and fill up the car with beer and booze. Long live old man punk!
dilute? watt im nodding while listening, going, yep, yep, while he's spielin...100%genuine! anyway, Watt and Draheim, nice job, it's been a pleasure. .
What year did this take place? I saw him a few weeks after 9/11/01 (Nine Eleven) in Lexington KY & both those dudes were in the band but they were not a 3piece....
how the hell can he manage the driving the sleeping wherever and singing playing i could not do that at all. i am insane for music since am born and have and buy tapes cds and vynils and go to gigs but i must train and swim to be ok. i could not do this life
svoboda simon He is truly amazing. Watt represents true aspects of the punk ideology. I am blessed to have had this opportunity to spend this time with him.
First time I saw Mike was in 82 or 83 last time was in 2004. I had many chances to see him play at the Prospector in LB and elsewhere but was always lazy and watching this I want to kick myself.
Does Watt not have a cell phone? That has to be the last pay phone on earth. He is looking fairly fit here. Good to see. The visual style of this doc is not my thing, but interesting.
You have to remember this was 2002. Cells were not as big of a deal. Especially not for Him. Plus the fact he was probably just scrapping by paying bills.
Watt is a true one of a kind.
Yes he is. I do have another show that I shot not included in this documentary that I will post soon. Thank you for watching.
One of my dreams is to take a trip with Mike in his van. This is the next best thing. Thanks a lot.
+Rusty Shackleford Thank you and you're welcome Rusty. Please check out more of my work here: www.billdraheim.com
Rusty Shackleford Mike gave me and my girlfriend a ride home in the van after a show in tempe in 96. It was one of my greatest moments.
Love the Turf Club, seen Watt there, saw the Meat Puppets......saw the Meat Puppets with Mike at the Cabooze, one of my favorite memories....
Thanks for the watch. Please subscribe to see a Secondmen First Ave show coming soon.
