This happened before Katrina and they were wise enough to cut off southbound traffic and set both sides of the interstate open to go north. Hello? Makes sense. Block off some entrances and let the people go!!!!
You also have to remember that there is a state-wide evacuation going on. Traffic isn't usually this bad (except on the GA/FL line, traffic is either non-existent or you're there forever)
if i was totally out of time, i would drive southbound, hunker down in the fifth or sixth level of a cement parking structure near a stairwell or elevator for a little protection. Not much but better than being in a stick structure.
OMGAWD Yes to a jerk flying by and an idiot letting them in. At least they're moving. Gas would be a concern. I'm in Michigan and cannot imagine how far they are north from the state line to get out.
They should be flying by, in fact it should be used as a lane as long as possible. The incoming lane should also be used for outgoing, at least 2 or 3 lanes. These people’s lives are in danger, Prayers are being sent!
@johnholder9062 Remember that Whitesnake concert out East where their stage pyrotechnics caught the celing on fire? When too many folks head for the exit, you are trapped.
They are advising people without tickets on the local news cast not to come to the airport because flights are being canceled and there are no tickets to be had to exit and you cannot shelter at the airport. As flights are being canceled, those that remained are packed unable to transport those who have previously purchased tickets. Your advice is opposite to what is being advised. For some reason they're not bringing any airplanes into the hurricane Zone but simply moving them out of the way of the storm packed like sardines. It's strange that the airlines are not able to unexpectedly move hundreds of thousands of people overnight, as homes and jobs disappeared 2 weeks ago and Ron DeSantis refuses to accept calls from the White House to coordinate federal assistance.

I literally was thinking the same thing amd then I see your comment. Crazy they don't. So sad 😢😢😢😢
Is this the only location that has slow traffic on I75, is there a camera on US-41?
Why is there traffic, what’s the hold up??? Is it congested on the whole east coast???
yes usually only so many ways out. There is turnpike and 75 I think but its a 8 hour long drive through the state depending where you leave from
@@melissaferland5341 horrible planning I’m sorry to say but this is ridiculous

always gotta be that one jerk flying by everyone and squeezing in, and the one idiot that lets them.....lol
There's no law that says you have to wait in line
I think when they allowed traffic in the shoulder and a couple ppl got the notice before everyone else.

I always felt somewhat tapped when in Florida. This shows why.....
It’s gotten rather pricey to go to Florida but tapped is a stretch my guy

They closed airports at 9am
I could not stand that traffic......
Look at live cams! Total lies! There was an accident on 4 yesterday. Reporting bs!

Then he'll blame the feds.. story as old as time. At least democrats don't play politics with people's lifes.
Go to Miami Dade where the crooks fly private.
Fly, you fools
Airports closed
They would still have to drive to the airport wouldn't they? Also, do they really have that many flights out of Florida, and to where? 🤔🤷
Maybe going to south FL would have been a better idea. You could have slept in your car until the storm passed.
