I just found one of these at the thrift store and it’s in great condition! I’m very interested in learning more about the machine and how to care for it and use it. I really appreciate these videos! They are very informative and useful. Keep up the great work 😊
Just shows how well these 247s were built - this one is actually rusting but still runs quite nicely. Mine is clean and was lightly used, I think, so it purrs along like a Rolls Royce. For some reason the 247 isn't seen as collectable, so you get a great machine for a very reasonable price. Does everything you really need unless you're into embroidery...
You misspoke - stitch length gets longer as you move the lever down. The left hand scale is stitches per inch and the right hand scale is stitches per cm. The upper "Fine" zone is for fine adjustment of the satin stitch (bar-tack).
Hola me gusta lo q veo trato de entender pero me es difícil tengo la misma maquina q la compre de segunda y me enamore del sonido es linda puedes indicar donde se aceita y engrasa gracias saludos de Lima, Perú,
I believe with this one it’s a bobbin tension issue - the bobbin case is worn out and tension can’t be adjusted properly. When we replaced the bobbin case and adjust the tension it works better.

Thanks for the words of encouragement!

You can download the manual in English on the Singer website.
Did you fix the missing stitches? And how did you?
I recently bought one and it misses stitches every couple stitches

Thank you your video was very helpful!!
Thank you!!
You bet!
It’s too bad you didn’t show how the thread winds around the bobbin and intertwines the two threads.
