Thanks ... I've owned my 1993 MX-5 since 2003 and never knew I even had an ECU lately I have been receiving a "CHECK ENGINE" light on occasion and a "AIR BAG" warning light on other random occasions Since I'm going to OWN & MAINTAIN this vehicle "forever' ... :-) ... I appreciate the VIDEO & the INFORMATION COOP
"Getting up there with 130,000 miles..." is a real hoot. I bought my '91 Miata as a "temporary" daily driver back in 2001 while I was restoring my MGB. The Miata had spent its first ten years as a full time pizza delivery car and the original owner back then figured it was completely worn out at 105,000 ( the clutch had been replaced at 100,000 just a few months before I got it.) It's been my daily ever since - will hit 300,000 for certain by Labor Day (and I'm still on that same clutch!) Except for the usual wear items, pretty much everything it came with is still on it... including the original to the car Panasonic AGM battery that lasted 11 years.
I have just had the exact same issue of the water going in the drain. Took a flat head to the bottom where the Gap is at and a lot of water came out. Having the same issues as you had. So it was just the ECU?
mine starts but won't stay idling. It just dies. The idle control valve was clean... not too sure what it could be. I lifted up the carpet and saw that the sound deadening was soaked in water, but it was only the lower portion so... yeah.
I’m having a similar problem. I can drive the car one day with only a few smal issues and then it seems like all at once the idle goes way down, it runs like hell, and if you give full throttle it does nothing. 94 m edition ac delete and new motor. I’m thinking it’s probably ecu tho.
I checked EVERYTHING. Came out one day and there was a little water on the floorboard and that's what lead me to look at it. Connections looked like it had sat on the titanic lol
@@AlexMartinez-mu7lz Did you check tps sensor? Idle air control valve? Does it stay running without having a miss if you give it gas? I doubt it's the ecu like mine was unless you get a ton of water in your car, which is what i think happened to mine over time.
No Traction the tps is calibrated properly and I got another iac from eBay just to switch it out to see if it’ll work. I’m waiting on a gasket to come in so I hope when I put it in it’ll solve the issue. But I’m so lost right now :(

Is this Gingiums rally miata?
looks like her huh
Just subbed. I'd like to see more of the miata :)
What damage if you remove the jumper clip from the diagnostic module while car is running??? car wont start now.
Most likely blown fuses for future reference
??? Where was the ECU located ???
Passenger side firewall. Like basically on the floor if i remember correctly

Ended up figuring it out?
I’d like to know how he found out it was the ecu that was bad

My miata won’t hold idle at all need help...
Could be a lot of different things. Best places to start is to look at spark, fuel, and vacuum leaks first
No Traction I did all the basic checks , it has spark, compression, no vacuum leaks, holds fuel pressure, and timing is all good so idk
