    The problem is simple No. 1, replace your Cam Index Sensor, suddenly your car will run like new! No2, replace your ignition switch, you will be amazed how suddenly everything works like new. Simple as that, cause I've been there, done that... I finally decided to spend some money and took my 1990 NX to a Miata specialist. I was shocked, how he took all the mystery out of my car. I spent the money, so take advantage and you'll be extremely happy how smooth and effortless the car runs if you replace both things.

    Whenever at cold start, my 90 revs to 1000 rpm then dies. I have to hold the throttle slightly for about 10 seconds until it finds the 800 rpm idle. I’ll have to clean everything mentioned in this video and see if it helps out. If anyone knows the exact issue to my problem, please let me know. UPDATE: after cleaning the iac with carb cleaner and flushing the system with sea foam, both fuel and oil, my car no longer dies at cold start.

    Hey man i just wanted to say thanks for the vid. i went outside n cleaned my throttle body, was pretty nasty, cleaned my air box, my belt was gucci, but the idle air control valve was a horror lmao. the line and connector(whatever its called) for the coolant to that was horrible, so gunked up it took me forever to clean. The line for air was pretty good, metal just rotting over time. I didn't think those things would fix the problem, but sure enough I turned the key and it found a good idle right away. adjusted the idle screw and now happily starts and quickly finds idle at about 1k. thank you so much man.

    check your oil levels for the "tappet tick" the manufacturers manual states that the tick is most often caused by low oil levels

    Using that breather on the valve cover is an immediate vacuum leak. At least it was for me. When I put the Oem line back on, problem began to resolve.

    hey man i was wondering what your stereo setup is? I have a 1990 miata and want to see what people are doing with the little space is in them.

      +Jared Webber idk what model head unit i have but it is a kenwood i think, (older) 1,000 watt 2-channel amp 10in alpine s class sub in a sealed box, the box is nothing custom just a standard box and the sub and the amp are both in the trunk you kinda just have to find a spot for it to fit really.

      +Jared Webber the door speakers are polk and i have no speakers in the headrest

      Probs too late to reply to this, but a nice sound system I setup in my mx5 is 6.5inch JVC's in the doors, 6x9 JVC's behind the seats in the parcel tray (couldn't find speakers to fit in the headrest), a Fusion 8 inch active slim sub behind the passenger seat and a single-din Pioneer head deck (none of that fancy touch screen stuff). Mint setup and you still get great bass and clarity at highway speeds with the roof on (u lose alot of bass with the roof off) without taking up too much valuable space

    your oil temp goes up when you hit the throttle, is this normal? I have the same 'problem'.

    • @evergreenmotorworks91
      @evergreenmotorworks91  8 лет назад +8

      the oil gauge you are inspecting is not the TEMP but it is the LBS of the oil pressure in the engine! thanks man and it is very normal. thanks for the comment man!

      hey thanks for the vid. my oil pressure skyrockets to 90 when i start the car. after it warms up (5 mins ish), itll be at about 45, and bringing the car up to 4k the pressure rises right back up to 90. I'm thinking the oil pressure sender is gone to shit, but idk. any ideas?

    I have a '97 with a Jackson Supercharger. I have idle problems, but only when the engine is cold. Is that normal?

      @ZHGAmingAllTheWay 7 лет назад +1

      Jim Wornell yea, thats fine, cold start with FI or on a tuned car will usually have a rough cold idle
