A perfect depiction of my home area & an almost spot on grasp of the history with just one caveat...the old corn store was never used as a workhouse. Grain was stored there during our Genocide/Famine & shipped to England whilst the locals died in the fields eating the grass. Perfect production.
Ah sorry our research let us down there … tragic all the same I hope we managed otherwise in this series to deliver good accurate stories no matter what Appreciate you watching and commenting
Very little famine deaths on the sheep’s head peninsula. The landlord was very sympathetic and made provision for the tenants. Furthermore the tenants had very small holdings, my family rented circa 20 acres. Therefore there weren’t many cottagers (sub-tenants) who were the most likely to suffer.
@dmvzfdac oh wow never knew that - terrible period of history for sure - when wf for the north las winter (we’re just about to share the series with you ) we came across many more stories
Hi Stu & Jane, what a super job you guys have done so far showcasing Ireland. One of the best youtube channels to do so, hats off to you guys every week. Brilliant photography and Jane's witty commentary, the Irish tourist board would be hard pressed to get better than you to promote The Wild Atlantic Way. Con & Mary, Clonakilty 🤗🇨🇮
Well thankyou for that we still have around 7 full videos to go and already planning a return visit to the north Happy for the Irish tourist board to use the videos lol 😂
Jane 😊
No need to be sorry especially as you were at a fantastic location - loved what I saw of Croatia - went on a cruise once that stopped there and would love to explore in a van
@getawaygeese oh it's unbelievable there,up mountains,in the fortress in Dubrovnk, kayaking, swam galore, walked and walked for miles, island hopped. Definitely a place to explore.
Thanks Gill it was just a quick summary video so appreciate you watching - we were recording our q&a videos and saw yours listed so that will come out at some point in the summer
