Tbf Jane was playing under the assumption that that wasn't how it worked, so I feel like it would be cruel to give her trauma. She'd surely have made different decisions had she known. Not to put words in your mouth lol. Also, I'm shocked how much I love Blades in the Dark. I wasn't too sold when they first announced it, but since the very first episode it has just been consistently incredible. @@ceilingfanenthusiast6041 that's true, just thought of it as a fair heads up! and yeah honestly this journey has been great and i cant wait to play it with my friends!
You also have to remember that the GM can alter the rules a bit to suit their party. And even in the Oxventure they're pretty loose with a lot of the rules as well. It's one of the thongs I absolutely love about how they all play. Remindes me of the D&D games I used to have with my friends back in high school. At one point we even started making our own version based on DBZ.
I agree about the stress clearing, it was kinda unfair to Barnaby sadly, but at least the circumstances were funny, with him mouthing off to and getting punched by the same dudes two days in a row. As for the stress thing, Luke might just have been nice to her. Admittedly, I also did this one time when a player had cursed luck with rolls and resistances and was about to get their third trauma per three sessions, I gave them this extra box and said they are on the verge of gaining trauma so they stepped back. It was kinda rulebreak-y but hey, you help when you can.
I can't keep commenting enough, as much fun as I can tell the Oxventure crew likes doing these and the Dungeons & Dragons videos that they all depend on the amount of likes they get compared to views. I know I like watching these videos, and I think if you all do too you should smash that like button!
I Love the OxBox team TTRPGs! This Episode really shows how strong Barnaby can be when he’s not playing comic relief. I also love how the Blades in the Dark series has smaller scores to highlight each player. In the Oxventure episodes I sometimes feel like Ellen gets a little glossed over, with this set up I can really enjoy each character and get to know them more. Luke is a fantastic GM and I’m glad he gets his own series in this format. (I kinda wanna GM a BitD score after his inspiration)
You know, with how much Barnaby’s family has in a lot of institutions, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was revealed that Barnaby’s family actually runs the city lmao
The stock sell-off on Barnaby's part was a terrible move. Darnell would be a fool to not immediately expect Barnaby either had forewarning or a direct hand in the incident. There will be consequences.
On the other hand, Barnaby is widely known to be a drunken idiot who somehow survives his own Barnaby-ness by sheer dumb luck. It's *entirely* in-character for his public persona for him to have accidentally made bank off of a momentary fit of panic.
I've never been one for these D&D streams but just recently moved and found a local Comic, Card and Hobby store which I never knew existed in my local small city a few weeks ago and was given a warm welcome. Turns out they do multiple D&D campaigns two nights a week and invited me to join when they plan to start a new one when College starts back in early September! I'm big into my Roleplay and RPG style things, was big into NeverWinter Nights as a kid and creating my own Custom servers and online roleplay servers early 00's, so now I will just start sharpening my skills catching up and watching these D&D videos while grinding in FFXIV 😸
I love this whole episode, but I really love Barnaby selling his shares before Darnell sees that the Dimmer Sisters are gone. That entire sequence is priceless and brilliant. "With a dash of insider trading" being just barely audibly under Luke as Darnell talking was a delight.
I absolutely died at Lilith being Barnaby's "Spiritual Advisor." Also, what ever happened to getting an extra downtime action if you weren't in that last score. I know it wouldn't apply to this one, since everyone was in the last one, but it seems like that's been set aside?
1:11:16 At this point I started whistling what I imagined to be the electric lights music, until I realized it was the Gold Saucer theme. ...You're welcome for putting the Gold Saucer theme back in your head.
"A pair of Dimmer Sisters are to be burned at the stake" Well that's really not okay, it's an inhumane form of execution, and I'm not convinced any of the Sister necessarily deserve to die, so yes, you should certainly try to rescue them. It *is* a big ask, though, given the security, the public nature of the event, the-- "It's Rosie and Josie" SAVE MY PRECIOUS GIRLS AT ALL COSTS
It makes the throat smoother, and it is green- thus the name, green smoothie. Also, "I believe it's called a 'pump-and-dump'" Barnaby is the coldest HobbyHorseman by far
I would like to know what WOULD have happened if Lillith hadn't scrambled through all her options to find some way to avoid them being killed or captured by the Red Sashes. Were the other three going to have to rescue them in the next episode? Would it have led to a totally different route to the conclusion of the season? So many possibilities, nullified by a carefully-hinged floor constructed by an amoral criminal cat-man with a French accent.
If the Red Sashes found Barnaby and Lilith in a place they don't frequent and according to Kellenor they were going to get her too, does that mean they are going to go after the Gut-Cutters?
I'm so happy I was worried after the last episode that this would be the finale. but nay is better heck yes more Oxventure more blades in the dark I'm so happy thank you thank you love you guys
Well after those title bumpers in the end credits I think you may still have cause to worry. Frankly with the whole Barrier mystery in this second season it seems like the foundational change of the setting is about to be unraveled. I just don't understand why. This seems to be a successful and fun little series so it feels rather early to simply call it.
22:52 Ah, yes. I seem to recall there were at least two Baccari, and that they left the really crazy one in place to maintain stealth and vaporised the potentially less crazy one in order to escape. ^^
My thoughts on Lilith's Basilisk and trap door at the end: "She really wants to avoid this twist doesn't she!" Man, shit just got real. But I do have faith that the others found some way to escape the attempts on their lives
One of the things I love about roleplay is the GM can 100% plan a certain "cutscene", but with enough creatively (and as long as the GM isn't obstinate about it), it can be averted
I've been DMing for my family, and as of the last session, it's canonical in my world too that Tabaxi all have French accents. 🥰 So glad I clicked on one of your videos almost two years ago when I was just starting to research D&D!
Ha, even a pretend French accent is one of the weaseliest sound ls ever . . . the actual sound of it is hilarious. Even when a frenchman is threatening to kill you in a shouting rage, it still sounds no different to when they're begging or trying to flirt. It's so fucking funny, great people stuck with a little shy child of a voice all round

Also you get trauma once you reach the final stress box, not after you surpass it, so Zillah should have been traumatized 2 episodes ago.
Regardless, this has got me more excited than DnD recently, and I've been playing dnd for 5 years now!
I love the more serious, darker tone, the bigger emphasis on role play, and the unique mechanics.
It was kinda rulebreak-y but hey, you help when you can.
great episode, loved all that rp, poor Lilith got the worst of it. i love that ending.
Lilith: Oh no
Barnaby: anyway
Or major players within a group that does
The stock sell-off on Barnaby's part was a terrible move.
Barnaby making terrible moves that implicate him heavily is just classic Barnaby.
I like how Andy has manage to create a sherk meta
Mike/Barnaby has gone Galaxy Brain in this season! 🤯 well done, sir!
“And this is Lilith my spiritual adviser” mike that was too cleaver and funny your going to have to go back in the box
How is it every week I am more excited than the last? More Dimmer sisters? Yes please!
I love this whole episode, but I really love Barnaby selling his shares before Darnell sees that the Dimmer Sisters are gone. That entire sequence is priceless and brilliant. "With a dash of insider trading" being just barely audibly under Luke as Darnell talking was a delight.
Tabaxi: Oh ho ho ho... The price just went up. I will charge One Gold Piece!
I absolutely died at Lilith being Barnaby's "Spiritual Advisor."
Also, what ever happened to getting an extra downtime action if you weren't in that last score. I know it wouldn't apply to this one, since everyone was in the last one, but it seems like that's been set aside?
It sounds like they each get 2 no matter what.
Somehow Barnaby even made profit on a non profit mission and solved the gangs money problem.
1:11:16 At this point I started whistling what I imagined to be the electric lights music, until I realized it was the Gold Saucer theme. ...You're welcome for putting the Gold Saucer theme back in your head.
I love that Darnell now thinks Barnaby is brilliant and ruthless whenever he quits drinking.
I cannot believe how much of an absolute legend Barnaby is.
When Barnaby and Lilith get together, it's always an excellent time!
Iron Hook shouldn't be financially ruined, he still has the leviathan whaling business.
Both Lillith and Barnaby were on excellent form for this one, great work chaps!
Mike is brilliant. As Egbert, he lets himself have his moments, but I feel like Barnaby is consistently very clever
Well, you know, if it's going to be any of us, I'm glad it's me.
I love Barnaby so much.
I love how excited Lilith gets at the spooky parts, lol
I love how smart Mike is with playing his characters, being both silly and helpful to the group. Everyone is a joy to watch.
*Barnaby takes another sip of his drink*
Before this episode I was wondering just what happened to all the fantasy races in this future of Geth and FINALLY this episode gave an explanation
Barnaby will drink only the best spirits to toast the spirits of his fallen friends. That's the spirit Barnaby old boy!
So many possibilities, nullified by a carefully-hinged floor constructed by an amoral criminal cat-man with a French accent.
omg the lore that master westaway weaves. simply amazing
Barnaby can't tell his Astor from a hole in the ground.
If the Red Sashes found Barnaby and Lilith in a place they don't frequent and according to Kellenor they were going to get her too, does that mean they are going to go after the Gut-Cutters?
I don't think we need to worry about the Gut-Cutters.
No, they only went after Kelly because she was a previous Brightoner. So Gut Cutters are fine 😊
Sounds like Lilith got several hours of the weirdest and leas relaxing ASMR possible, lol.
As a francophone, I find the French tabaxi trend in the Oxventure completely hilarious...I love it!
Can’t wait for the endless string of “flashback: trapdoor”’s that has been allowed into canon.
Barnaby seems to becoming the most dangerous member at this point
He is the butcher after all
Ooh the first 3 hander next week. Should be fun with Edvard Zillah and Kasimar. Kasimar is going to have good fun killing him some Red Sashes
The next episode is 3 crew members?
@@Lord_Of_Night Luke said the Red Sashes we're going after the others so I can imagine it is.
@@IndianaMiller82 Yeah. I don't think they'd do a one person episode.
WHY AM I JUST SEEING THERE'S A SECOND SEASON OF BLADES IN THE DARK?! I know what I'm listening to today.
God Baranby is absolutely on point as always! Mike does an incredible job playing him.
That was not how I was expecting the episode to end but gods I’m terrified.

22:52 Ah, yes. I seem to recall there were at least two Baccari, and that they left the really crazy one in place to maintain stealth and vaporised the potentially less crazy one in order to escape. ^^
My thoughts on Lilith's Basilisk and trap door at the end: "She really wants to avoid this twist doesn't she!"
Man, shit just got real. But I do have faith that the others found some way to escape the attempts on their lives
One of the things I love about roleplay is the GM can 100% plan a certain "cutscene", but with enough creatively (and as long as the GM isn't obstinate about it), it can be averted
probably my favorite episode in the whole series, amazing job from everyone!!!
Rewatching this series and forgot how brilliantly Barnaby is played by Mike.
"I drink to _not_ know the true shape of reality." Barnaby is a man who understands himself deeply.
'bit of jinn'
excellent genie pun ellen
Looking forward to watching this with birthday cake 😊
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday😀
@@EJAndrews13 Thank you!
@@joachimkatz7495 🥰 thank you
Happy bday(possibly belated!)
Think we'll see the WMM walk through the passageway of the veil?
Next episodes complication: Keleanor dies of dysentery.
I've been DMing for my family, and as of the last session, it's canonical in my world too that Tabaxi all have French accents. 🥰 So glad I clicked on one of your videos almost two years ago when I was just starting to research D&D!
Loved the subtle knife reference, Ellen!
Is it just me or is Lilith and Barnaby the most dangerous team up among all of the Hobby Horses?
Maybe Lilith and Kasimir? Depends on what's happening
They might be. They're both smart and kinda ruthless 😂
"Level 1 Harm: Touched Hair"
[stops touching own hair]
I’m just starting to watch this, I’m assuming Barnaby has this in the bag again
Barnaby does just about everything at least half in the bag lol
Barnaby is the best part of any blades in the dark
Who thought BARNABY would turn out to be the mastermind?!
Haven't been this on edge from a cliffhanger since the Season 10 Finale of Murdoch Mysteries. This is almost painful... At least with this, I don't have to wait six months for answers
Even a week seems far too long though...and none of my friend watch, so I can't even speculate with them 😭
Wow, next week is the last episode? It feels way too soon. I hope they’re just taking a hiatus or there will be another season. Also no spoilers but what a cliffhanger!
What?! Nooo! I defo hope there is more, its so good - and they do all seem to have a lot of fun with it, so fingers x'd!
I hope it’s just the season. I think they had a similar tag for the Orbpocalypse saga’s final episode.
I’m not sure it is actually, I think “to be concluded” is just referencing the fact that the narrative for next’s week’s episode has already been set up. Kind of an odd place to end the season, I expect to at least see the barricade before then. I hope it isn’t the end!
