2:12:26 Corazon's quiet, "Why are you a Paladin?", still makes me chuckle. Just something about the exasperated and almost pleading way he asks the question is absolutely brilliant.
Nonetheless, it kept Egbert consistent in the fact that he doesn't believe that ghosts exists. Fighting the banshees directly would have meant acknowledging them directly.
The whole section about 30 minutes in with Corazon singing constantly with the others trying to get him to stop had me laughing so hard. I had the misfortune to finally catch Covid, so I really shouldn't be laughing, but I couldn't help it. I'm working my way through all the Oxventure sessions since I've never watched them before, and I'm a bit mad at myself for not watching them sooner.
She is nailing it, then. Merilwen's canon dnd alignment is "true neutral," which is often interpreted to mean a character that is neither particularly good nor particularly evil, who has no strong preference for abiding by a code or rejecting codes in favor of case-by-case adaptability. Basically, she's not supposed to have a moral code--she's just a force of nature who'll protect her own and is pretty easygoing about going along with the group.
Merilwen: *gets really upset, eventually leading to chaos in the village and killing the elder, all because she doesn't wanna change her name* Also merilwen: *chooses new name at the end anyway*

A shame that some of the videos have to be reuploaded! I always loved reading the live chat replay while watching the stream sessions. Quick suggestion, though: It would be nice if you guys can write down the original stream date somewhere in the description. Edit: You did it! Thanks!
@@NickFrustration Seems an impossible task. Have you ever wondered why the VOD of some livestreams have ten minutes on a holding screen at the beginning? Because if they trim or edit the livestream video, you lose the entire chat that went along with it.
Am I to understand that Egbert could have ended the combat encounter with the Banshees with a simple Paladin move? Still love how the Oxventures always stubbornly go against the grain throughout their adventures.
Merilwen .. you always have your charismatic cheat friends to back you up ♥☺ Also - these guys are running Blades in the Dark scores all the time, but with DnD rules.
Can you imagine if Ellen actually took Andy up on Scrimbleshanks? And from this point forward, everyone had to call Merilwen Scrimbleshanks with a straight face?
I just had an utterly massive epiphany about this whole quest while half-listening to it for the 5th time: it's basically an exact analogue to trying to come out of the closet when you know the faux-acceptance atmosphere is there and you can already tell the people who claim they'll love you "no matter what you are" turn their backs on you when you show who you really are and are at your most vulnerable. Something's wrong. You can feel it (the rejection). Except at least this time friends have your back and it's all some institutional curse and not internalized hostility towards people like you. Hopefully whoever feels that too can use this episode to try to let go of it.
@@shard7549 That's the fun part of narrative interpretation- even if a story is written one way, the audience can infer it another, completely different way.

That doesn't seem right. Hunter's mark grants advantage on wisdom checks, not attacks. And being invisible gives automatic advantage on attack rolls. An obligatory quote from dndbeyond: "INVISIBLE... i used to really enjoy listening to oxventure as i work, but with the amount of adverts on these videos you have made it impossible and it is no longer enjoyable to do so. Greed is the biggest fault in humanity
Hey Matt! You're right! There are way too many mid-rolls on some of these episodes. To give you a bit of insight on this, when we moved over to the Oxventure Channel, we had to re-upload a fair few videos. It was a huge effort! Seems like RUclips automatically placed ads on a lot of videos and put WAY too many into some and barely any at all in some others. We're going through and manually fixing this now. Hope you continue enjoying Oxventure!
ah i see well if its not totally down to you and it will be improved i apologise, i wasnt in the best mood when i wrote that id spent half the morning listening to adverts instead of oxventure and some of the ads were 45 mins long i can pause work to skip the long ads but not every 5 mins

@@BogeyTheBear Very true
@@BogeyTheBear No, because that's a banshee, not a ghost. Obviously.
You can also tell Johnny is so happy Egbert doesn't know what he can do lol
egbert could probably end this combat in a few goes of it but all of his attacks are three stooges roufines. I miss the bombs.
"Where's the lie, Merilwen? Where's the lie?" - Johnny nailed mom-voice.
There's something magical about watching the game master push aside and distort a stone wall to exit the room.
Corazon's nonsense mixed with the amazing rolls is just the best thing.
I love how Corazon has gone from Jack Sparrow to Guybrush Threepwood. Suits his new skills in insult fights.
DnD players who enjoy Monkey Island + Pirate swash-rogues = Fine wine 🍷

Only Oxventure could have an elven elder go 'Will you consult... the tombola?' and it work really well.
