Some 30 years ago, travelled by the taxicab version of this car in a hill station/ mountain resort in South India. When I asked the driver what was the model was, he did say Special Deluxe. Having never heard of it, I thought he just didn't know (the model name was missing from the body). Now, I realize that a Plymouth Special Deluxe actually existed. Oh! and by the way, it climbs hilly roads, that too loaded with luggage, real easy!
Granddad had one in split~pea green, searchlight on passenger side and a pull rope on the back of front seat to assist rear seat passengers when getting out of car. Remember it fondly from my 1950s childhood.
This one does not have overdrive, just the three speed. We built a 53 that was originally an overdrive car. We left the overdrive eblem on the back, since it's now built with a 5 speed overdrive.
Thank's for the tour. Love that car👍
The "boat" is the Mayflower.

Thanks for showing this very nice old survivor!
My DAD had the same colour Plymouth in 1963 in Newcastle NSW Australia 🇦🇺 so loved that car he traded it on a black 55 Plymouth . 🇦🇺👍🏻💯⛽️
Those tires look a bit beefier than stock. I like it! What size tires and are they mounted on the original rims?
Does it have "overdrive"?

Man. nice I love it the way it is, I hope you keep it original !
The first year Plymouth offered Overdrive was 1952 so any time you see an older model with OD , it had to have been added later.
