This is a very good idea for someone at the very beginning of their journey. I started with wax melts a couple of years ago and I am now making candles. This is definitely a hobby for me and I have spent a lot of money on this hobby. I don't know if I will ever venture into a business but I have had a lot of fun and I haven't taken it too seriously. I have made plenty of mistakes along the way, but that's part of the journey. I can finally say I have had some successes lately, but I'm still not sure they are good enough to sell. Thanks for the video!
@@BlackTieBarn you should I would have purchased one immediately. I tried a kit that was w/ igi 6006 but didn’t care for the sink holes even with warming up the jars
😂😂😂😂😂lmao the beginning of some of your videos are bloody hilarious, thank you so much for all your content, i now can make an almost perfect candle thanks to binge-watching your videos.
This is wonderful. You actually just answered my question on Instagram a couple of says ago and now you are going into more detail here..this is so helpful.....thank you so much. I am truly enjoying your channel. Blessings
Just FYI, I bought the smallest kit from Pro Candle Supplies. The quality was good, but I wouldn’t recommend this particular kit because the math on it doesn’t add up. So it has 3 lbs of wax and comes with 8 oz tins (which hold about 6 oz of wax so each pound makes about 3 candles). So you have enough wax for 9 candles, but the kit comes with 8 containers. It also comes with 4 1 oz bottles of fragrance and they say that 1 oz will scent about 1 lb of wax, so you have four fragrances, but can only use 3 with the wax that comes in the kit. It also only comes with 2 bow tie wick clips (but again, if you are making a pound of wax, that is 3 tins. Same with wicks and wick stickers. The products were a good quality but I really felt like the kit would have been much better if it made better use of the supplies included. They do have other kits where the math works out better. Just my 2 cents on this particular kit.
Everything you said about starting out and obtaining product ingredients is true. I am finally getting to finalize my wax, containers and scents. With that I have fragrance oils that I will probably not use again, definitely have some waxes that have been discontinued so I have to figure out what to do with as well as containers that I wanted to try and decided not to. Money spent and probably lost. This is a year's worth of research, testing, spending, undecisiveness, etc. I've seen, read and heard over and over again: "Keep track of what you spend" but the fear of the amount has stopped me. If I could go back and change most of this long process I would. ...and please don't even get me started on shipping costs... :(
@@BlackTieBarn It's all about the process. I haven't lost my drive or creativity and that's what matters. :) Your video will help those who haven't committed or think that they are unable to begin due to money, that is more important.
😅😅😅😅 You should probably do comedy on the side. 😊 BTW if no one has ever told you, YOU'RE AWESOME!!!! Thank you for the info and advice. Greatly appreciated. 🥰
Hey Shirley. I either use them for personal use, or sometimes make fire starters out of the wax. As far as how many to test... it really just depends. I'll link a video below that I made about my testing process. It may be what you're after. :) ruclips.net/video/pHNaamEw0As/видео.html
I've been making them out of paper towels and petroleum jelly. If I have left over candles I'll pour that on 'em. Learned in jail by making ink out of p jelly &tp🤷♂️🤦♂️

It would be nice if you had a Black Tie Barn candle starter kit. It’s an idea!

😆 Thanks!
I found aztec to be the cheapest to get started especially with shipping!
I would tend to agree as they have low FO prices. Shipping really depends on location though. But its its pretty reasonable for me as well
This is so helpful!! Thank you!
Great video! Thanks for the humor in the beginning and end as well 😄

Lone star candle supply has several starter kits. They are around 80$ and make like 20 plus 8oz candles. (Also offer pillar, votive and tart kits.)
Thanks Heidi!

Can you make a video about creating candle labels?

I haven't heard of them but absolutely could do that.

Stupid auto correct
What if you live in a low/no oxygen environment, and candles won't burn?

Actually trying to work on this with someone. It's going OK, just slowly
@@BlackTieBarn The wooden ones are very expensive and since it is wooden, they break easily. Please make them plastic and more durable. Thank you
