Lol. It takes time to get momentum on youtube. Especially in a micro niche like candle making. And I started late... then had a few months I between after first starting. So.... its a slow grind. But I appreciate that and thank you. What helps me grow the most is people (viewers and subs) sharing my videos. ;) Thanks again!
😁😊🥰 Thank you. You're all comments make my day. Glad you enjoy the videos. Little secret...nearly everytime I'm done with a video, I start convincing myself no one is going to like it or it's not very good. Pretty much EVERYTIME! 😆 So, it's nice to hear you all enjoy them and find them helpful or informative or entertaining, etc. Thanks again!
@@BlackTieBarn Awww! That's just how the mind of a creative works. I am the SAME with everything I do so I totally understand this. But please, please, please, don't ever stop what you're doing. And not just because you help us so much with all of the information (the comments testify) but please never stop for YOU. God Bless you Sir and may the love of God dwell in your heart. Thank you for blessing us with the talent and gifts you have been given 🙏🏾🤍
I thought I knew it all. At one time I made candles out of Gulf wax and thought they were pretty cool. I even colored them by melting crayons. They did stink with color. Wick was one size fits all. Mostly candles for votive and light. Today it's a different ball game. I started with Golden Brands 464 soy and had some good luck with it. I'm not crazy about wood wicks. Just had a couple of failures using them. Today I knocked myself out using lavender. I used a heavier load of fragrance this time over last time while staying within guidelines. Added some color to make the candle match jar design. I recycle everything. Once a test candle is done, it's melted down and used in the bathroom rebirth as a votive. Dawn is my friend for cleaning up. Works wonders cleaning up soy wax drippings. Not selling them yet, currently learning and having fun.
This is so true regarding the wax type! I make coconut apricot candles myself, but went to a market recently to shop, a nice couple was selling candles, I was so excited smelling them all, that I completely forgot about the wax type 😂. I figured it out eventually by the look, but the wax type wouldn’t have affected my decision of buying their candle, they were beautiful and very fragrant! Thank you for another great video, Wade, you truly are the best!
I really cannot recall of top of my head. I'll have to go double check when get a chance. But the csndle industry as a whole is growing worldwide constantly
Thanks. I appreciate that. It's always been something that bothers me... or makes it harder to follow when presentations aren't roadmapped or planned. In not a fan of just random talking. Lol. So thank you for that. :)
As always…great info and topics…thanks so much…can’t wait until I retire from my “full-time” job so I can devote my time doing something I truly want to do and will enjoy doing.
This video is a gem. Thanks for sharing this with us, Wade. Would you be open to sharing some tools/techniques that one could use specially to perform market/product research prior to launching a first time or seasonal business?
I'll look into that and see what I can do. It isn't really my strong point. I just use what's available. But if I can't help much I'll try to find someone who can. :)
Hi Wade, great wealth of information on the candle market. I've had to watch it twice to get most of the info and probably will have to watch it again to get all the info, lol! This has been a interesting video as well as complex. It could also be that I'm just having issues keeping up after spending a week in the hospital, lol! When are we going to get another update on the new scents you've been working with? I always look forward to those videos. What do you think the trend will be for the holidays this year? Have you heard if there are going to be some new scents for fall and Christmas? I can't believe I'm even thinking about fall already, lol! Didn't we just get through all that? Just curious what your thinking about. Have you gotten your workshop put together yet? I figured you'd have it done on time for fall. I've been busy adding more shelf space and rearranging to make it happen. Between soap, skincare and candles things seem tight. I'm hoping to get a new 12 x 24 building to make a new studio next spring. It's on the horizon somewhere, lol! Have a great weekend! Jill Gross
Thanks Jill. Unfortunately no... I dint get workshop done. With the stuff with my sis and everything going else, I had to pause some other endeavors. So things are still a bit tougher now right now then they will be once it's all done. I really need to get the new space. It's a challenge right now for sure. As far as scents... I haven't been told or seen any new fall/Christmas ones yet but I'm definitely interested. I will be be reviewing some new FOs from a company in Canada here soon which viewers have been asking for. They serve the U.S. too. Lastly thanks for the support and positive feedback as always. ;)
@@BlackTieBarn wishing your sis the very best, I know it's been a rough ride. I understand more than you know. Just spent a week in the hospital myself. I'm a type 1 diabetic taking insulin (we store some medicine for horses in the fridge) I accidentally took a shot of horse tetnus instead of my insulin and the next morning I had this strange Jerking, vertigo, and paranoid behavior. My husband discovered what I did. The bottles are almost identical. It was very bad for several days. I am fine now. Back to formulating and everything. No more horse meds in the fridge!!! I'll keep your sister in my thoughts and prayers. Take care Wade, see you in the next video! Jill
Hi I’m confused about weight of a candle - My candle says Max fill line 10 ounces and volume to overflow 13.5 ounces so if I sell it at 11 ounces does that mean that I sell it as an 11 ounce candle? Thank you
Yes. You only list the weight of the wax out hold. Not volume. Weigh your empty jar. Then weight it filled. The difference is the "size of the candle" that you list.
?? I'm not sure what you are talking about? I don't place anything. If you are talking about Google ads... youtube/Google can put those on any video they want. Whether I turn off or on. Sorry they bother you.... its the nature of youtube. :/
@@BlackTieBarn apparently Google calls them mid-roll ads and they pop up at random times. Allegedly they can be adjusted manually. I'm not a contact Creator I know nothing about them except they are really annoying for the viewers.
@@ericcastle380 Ah. Yes. Well truth is Google can and will put ads on any video that gets traffic at all, whether you want them or not. Its part of their YT terms. They are, after all, an advertising company more than anything. However, to be honest.... those ads also help us creators keep making more content. I work 12+ hours per day and it would be impossible for me to take time away from my "normal" day to day business operations to run this channel if some of that time/money wasn't recouped. It takes a lot of time and work to make and edit the videos plus engage with the community. Just like short ad spots on the radio, etc. I know listeners would rather they didn't happen, but its what pays for the station or channel, etc. Just the way it all works. But I hear ya, and I'm sorry they are a bothersome to you. But I do my absolute best to provide helpful valuable content (not just post fluff to make a buck). Where and when google/YT wants to place those ads though.... I can't really control. Even if we put specific placeholders or say no mid roll ads, They can and will place ads where and when they want. But again, from the perspective of someone putting in 20 hours a week into this channel (or more), it helps pay the bills as well. I hope you understand. The one thing I know for sure.... if RUclips/Google didn't run ads.... RUclips nor the channels would be here. Ha! So, unfortunately.... it just comes with the territory these days. :) Thanks for your feedback Eric.
I bought candles from Voluspa having never smelled any of their candles. I tried for some time trying to dupe their Nissho-soleil it’s my favourite scented candle ever. I have bought others that were not good. But I think you’re right, people will buy on-line if it’s a well done website that is easy to navigate.
