    Wade, you are amazing! I am just starting out and have been wondering about these things but had no clue that there were requirements for the product label itself. You are truly providing candlemakers so much help & support! Thank you, thank, thank you! If there was a 'Candle Maker's School', you would be the one to teach it! I love your easy to digest content! ❤

    Loved the video. Important details.
    Now what happens if customers burns candle like for 7to 8 hrs, if they don’t cut wicks and something happens we have no control of that.

    Thank you! As a soap maker and now a candle maker, who sells mostly at fairs and markets, my biggest frustration is the labels. My undertsanting of Fair Label laws and standards has led me to put all required info on my labels. Then I see so many that don't. Even in boutiques. Which is why I love your comment that one fail can affect us all. I am interested in seeing you covering tealights and wax melts too. Again, thank you!

    I thought there were standards on container temperature as well but this wasn't mentioned. Either way, I track the container temp with every burn (after 4 hrs), along with flame height, flicker, sooting and mushrooming.

    Thank you. One thing I cannot find, and I know it is not as major as with flame candles, labels for wax melts/bars/drops, etc requirements. I've made my own wording, based on other labels, but many I have seen use their "Candle" labels. Even some I got from a big brand was shrunken flame warnings. Maybe I am just missing something obvious, but this is an area I am lost in and worried.

    I might have missed it, but does the ASTM say that the candle should be burned from start to finish or just the four hours? My sheet only has the four hours but I'm going way past that. I am working through the entire candle, and it is taking forever to get through 40+ hrs. lol I document every burn by the standard with varying timed burns including power burns. I'm actually learning a lot in this phase too. Thanks for your video, great as usual.

    Question, newbie here, haven’t started making candles yet. How should I reference lot numbers for candles I will make. I see the wax has a lot number and probably everything else we put in our candle. With all those lot numbers to keep up with. Do you have a spreadsheet to help keep lot numbers and your personal batch lot numbers organized? Hope this makes sense. Thanks

    A little confused about the weight of the candle. What is the net weight is different from each candle. So if I have labels made I would need many different labels. Do you just estimate? Or do you have a way to be sure all your weights are the same? Guessing you’re very accurate about your pours… or me yet.😊

    • @IrishQ76
      @IrishQ76 8 месяцев назад +2

      You can either have different labels made or put your jars on a scale when pouring your candles to insure your candles are the exact weight every time. Hope this helps 😀💞

    • @BlackTieBarn
      @BlackTieBarn  8 месяцев назад +1

      You should try to make them roughly the same. You can alter your recipes so that they end up being basically the same. Or just put the smallest net weight on your levels. If they range from 7.8oz to 8.1 just put 7.8 on all of them

    • @Candle.makingferal2

    • @shanagoodman31

      In the video he reads the standard which says you are only required to put the label on the item that is presented during retail sale. So if you present your candles in a box during retail sale, then only the box is required, but you’re free to label both if you prefer.
