  • SURF FISHING the BEACH for BLUEFISH with CIRCLE HOOKS and BUNKER CHUNKS. Hit the sand beach today surf fishing for some bluefish action with the circle hooks and bunker bait. Set the fish finder with about 2 to 3 feet of 50 pound mono leader to a 7/0 circle hook and bunker chunks. It was a wait before the bluefish started to bite but the fish came in and plucked a good bunch. The set on the circle can be tricky but the key is let the circle do its thing. You can reel slowly, shift your rod slowly or wait for the big bend. Many other methods to set a circle. It can get complicated when you involve various drags, clickers, reels and rods. Other factors involve the ANGLE of the take, the RIG you use, the BAIT you pick, and the SIZE of your hook. But to keep things simple I WILL SAY AGAIN, "let the circle hook do its thing." Same thing the commercial long liners do. You can't go wrong. I like circle hooks. In fact I like all hooks. I don't think there is a hook I ever had a grudge with. Have fun out there and we are always happy to share our experiences with all those around the world and hope you enjoyed the video as much as we did making it and remember always - Fish Your Way!

Jerry your proof we don’t need $1k+ rods and reels to catch fish same as John Skinner proves we don’t need $100-200k+ boat to catch them either. Great content as always 👍🏻

Thanks! love that rod and reel and lasts a good long while too, I cant see spending that kind of money after a certain point your rod and reel becomes a piece of jewelry, that's not what they are intended to do

Hi Jerry, That was a good day catching Blues. It looks like the Blues and Stripers are in your area. Nice to see you catching fish from the beach. There's nothing like surf fishing from the beach on a sunny day. I've always liked circle hooks. It's better for the fish and they set themselves. Take care and have fun, Mickey

It was thanks Mickey, they seem to be about in many areas now probably better striper fishing towards the night time. And like you say something about the beach and sunny day. the circles are a great hook only had one bite off on the same leader too, i think one more at dusk

Iam I subscriber of your chasnnel and enjoy your videos especially throwing chunks in the surf I have never used that type of reel before I've always used a spinning reel, can you tell me the brand and type of real that is and also do you have any tutorial video of how to use that type of reel??
If not make for some good content.
I do mostly throwing chunks out and using a sand Spike and just waiting on hits so that would be a good real I think but I'm afraid of the bird nest thing and all the horror stories I have about using that type of reel for beginner's.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

I would say not much a difference but I like the inlines because it does set a sort of a trap when it hits the jaws. The offsets may set deeper in the gullet and may have more hookups overall they both work
