    The British betrayed certain Russians at the end of WW2 and sent them back to Stalin and Americans betrayed Allie’s many times since WW2. Only a fool trusts allies. Allies are relationships of convenience and in history alliances switched often, sometimes in the blink of an eye.

      @@schokobar4133 After the secession of hostilities, the Western Allies agreed to repatriate German collaborators to their respective nation-states, most notably Soviet-Russian collaborators who had enlisted into the 'Russian Liberation Army', which had been a significant component of the Heer.

    • @irishflyer6377
      @irishflyer6377 Год назад +1

      I’m not sure BUT if the British soldiers and officers who have spoken out are to be believed then these Afghans where paid by the British to fight alongside British Soldiers ( partly because the mainstream Afghan Army couldn’t be trusted). I can only assume that recruiting these Afghan soldiers reduced the number of British Soldiers killed or wounded. Did they fight for the UK or for their own country is a difficult political question, perhaps we first need to ask did the US and UK invade Afghanistan to protect western interests or to give ordinary Afghans a better future? The whole thing was a mess but now refusing to save these men from torture and dead is just adding to the fiasco.

    My maternal grandfather who was a Chinese Malayan, was one of the few non-whites who worked with the British Colonial Service in Kuala Lumpur, Malaya prior to the Second World War. As a Chinese, and as a result of the Second Sino-Japanese War in the 1930s, it was well expected that he and other Chinese Malayans who worked with the British would be targetted by the Japanese. However, when the Japanese did invade and conquer Malaya, there were no plans to evacuate or even provide evacuation assistance to my grandfather and others like him who had served the British faithfully. Only white British were evacuated and non-white British were all left to fend for themselves. Some survived in hiding, like my grandfather, others were caught, tortured and killed by the Japanese. History repeats itself with the fall of Kabul, where Afghan dogs were given priority by the British government for evacuation over Afghan humans! The Afghans who worked and supported the British in Afghanistan made the same mistake as the Malayans did during the Second World War. They were dumb enough to trust the British!

    So there are now many highly trained soldiers , conversant with strategies and tactics, disillusioned with the way they were treated who will ultimately end up fighting with, or for someone else. Why couldn't we have formed an affiliate unit from these men? It worked well with the Ghurkas. What a waste especially when these men were proven quantities with people who vouched for them. I'm not trying to defend the minister's comments however he might not be aware of the true background. An enquiry might help, politicians seem to conduct them the alarming frequency even when they are of little benefit to the general public.
