It was shrugged off by a lot of fans at the time as just the writer wanting to make a point about a big issue of the day, but as is clearly obvious these days it was just the start of Tornquist's descent into lunacy

He is only known because of when he worked for Funcom. He was the story lead on Anarchy Online and did The Longest Journey 1 and 2 with Funcom. Unsurprisingly, he was let go from Funcom and the first thing he came out with was Dreamfall: Chapters, the third and highly left-wing 3rd Longest Journey title. Which pretty much confirmed why Funcom shitcanned him.
Anarchy Online gradually showed signs of having no true direction. It turned so bad I abandoned it decades ago. The absence of a coherent story was absolutely the main complaint, although the poorly connected game mechanics played a part as well. It is weird, people are supposed to learn from their mistakes, in order to grow. This is going in the opposite direction.

Ragnar made The Longest Journey trilogy of games. I'm not sure how commercially successful they were, but they were pretty good, solid quest/adventure games. By comparison, Dustborn is an abomination with many truly offensive moments. Sad to see how disgraceful and unhinged Ragnar has become over the years.
