should I go with these ones the B6 for my front speakers or should I get the f5 I like these ones because they're a little cheaper and I'm wondering if the F5 are little Bassy already have a big subwoofer or is the f is better for movies because that's all I listen to
Oh lemme see. Braun, ADS, Gale and infinity vintage with kick the living shit out of $5000 a pair B&W diamond 805's. EASILY. Every day. Twice on Sundays.
I listented to 3020 for 10 minutes or so and the tonality is a little weird because of some "rustle" on the treble region, I don't know how to describe it. Also they lack bass and power. I would choose wharfedale.
metring073 I'll buy em n ship em out to ya for a small finders fee , hehe .. but foreal lol anything to help a fellow friend who has passion for music.
No...Australia is not ready for the ELAC Debut B6 speakers sound superior....You will just have to carry on with the un-superior sound speakers that you are all accustomed to in Australia...sorry mate...
+Leon A I think the quality would get lost between the speakers and the reviewer's recording device. I had the same reaction as you, though, I wanted him to turn them on and hear some jams.
A Vintage pair of Spendor SP2 will sound way better. This will have more of a hi-fi sound vs an audiophile product. Best value new? Yes but save your pennies and go for vintage high end or wait til you can afford something new
From various forums, the conclusion is that debut has a mismatched tonality between models (b5 vs b6 or b5 vs center) which is dumb. B6 ($400) have less details in mids/highs than Dali Zensor 1 ($300) but they have more bass. B6 is less airy, less dynamic, less impressive. They work great for movies because everything works great with movies, you don't need details on movies, you want your house shaking. Overpriced speakers and they claimed they sound like $2000 speakers. Oh yeah! Right! More so like $100 speakers.
Reading fud doesn't tell you what B6 sound like ,or how they are voiced that only gives you an unqualified opinion like you posted here anyway . I have 2 L/R/F B6 in here with a powered sub they are remarkable for the price and play nice with the 2 way rear surrounds and center from another brand with 5.25" mid bass drivers and hold up well sound quality wise to my 8" 2 way near field professional studio monitors in another room . I can tell you Elac B6 sound better than a lot of $800.00 plus speakers and I've had plenty of all that and much more expensive speakers and still do . My THX PM3 Pro certified reference 2.1 system midfield speakers are 3 way $3500.00 JBL reference pro and 2 reference powered subs beyond that with an 850 wpc THX PM3 certified amp . I have a little better frame of reference than the fud you posted .
Right but you don't need a 5K amp but they do, need lots of power to get the best out of them at elevated levels but below that a ~ 50 wpc RMS amp will work for a lot of folks . I reccomend a powered sub with any bookshelf speaker and most towers ,they fill out the bottom well on any bookshelf speaker and most towers . If you feed the B6 well they are wholly remarkable at the price and better with a sub . I have my ELAC B6 and powered sub on a spendy Sony ES 7.1 HT AVR that can do 2 channels at 150 watts rms full range or 110 wpc x7 full range watts all ch. driven and a $399.00 cheaper 5.1/7.1 HT AVR ain't going to do all that cleanly at elevated levels . Something like a ~$1K Denon or Sony ES HT 7.1 AVR or a 2 channel power amp like a Crown XLS 1002 power amp that can put out *at least 100 wpc *rms full range power 2 channels driven * will work fine on the B6 speakers . OTOH so will an inexpensive 2 ch Behringer A500 both of these are much better than most consumer hi fi (mid fi) grade amps and HT AVR amp sections that don't cost an arm and a leg . You can get a nice clean Schiit Audio Modi or Modi 2 uber DAC to feed these amps for $99.00 or $149.00 respectively . Crown XLS 1002 DriveCore™ 2 Series power amplifier - 215 watts RMS x 2 at 8 ohms (550W RMS x 2 at 2 ohms) $299.00 Behringer A500 2 ch. Power Amplifier 2-channel Power Amplifier, 300W Peak/ch at 4 ohms, with Fan-less, Noise-free operation, Audiophile-grade Headroom $199.00 I have 2 front Elac B6 and my other rears and center and a powered sub to round out a decent 5.1 configuration but I use them at 2.1 for music up to 24/96 hires and they can rock cleanly at elevated levels and likewise fine at lower levels with a beefy amp .
that wasn't bad at all but I sent them back cause I can't find a large bookshelf speaker to out preform my Klispch K.G 2.5s I bought in 97 for 499 bucks I know today I'd have to spend at least 600 plus for better large bookshelf guess I found the Gem
The buzz was the Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 was a great bargain. So I bought them. They sucked. big time. Cheaply made; bloated bass, veiled highs. How seriously should I take this mass hysteria over Elac Debut's...?
I have these speakers with roughly 15 hrs. burned in, and they sound just great! I think they put out a sound quality that is beyond their price.
+Edz Rud Hi, do these require any extra gear to use?
Wonder how they compare with the UB5
I have a pair of these and they do sound very good.
should I go with these ones the B6 for my front speakers or should I get the f5 I like these ones because they're a little cheaper and I'm wondering if the F5 are little Bassy already have a big subwoofer or is the f is better for movies because that's all I listen to
I agree, but vintage speakers can be a fine option too, but take longer to find
steal threaded your opinion is invalid
Oh lemme see. Braun, ADS, Gale and infinity vintage with kick the living shit out of $5000 a pair B&W diamond 805's. EASILY. Every day. Twice on Sundays.
These or Wharfedale Diamond 220?I am also considering the Q Acoustics 3020...
I listented to 3020 for 10 minutes or so and the tonality is a little weird because of some "rustle" on the treble region, I don't know how to describe it. Also they lack bass and power. I would choose wharfedale.
GraveNoX I choosed JBL 530's already and i am very happy with them.
+GraveNoX What would you day is the best sound system on the market in 2015- 2016?
+Sam .B or say *
What is the ideal amplifier pairing for this speaker? From specs they do not seem to be very efficient.
I Love my elac fs58.2 speakersystem
How do these compare to the DefTech Sudio Monitors 65? (yes the SM65 are much more expensive unless you get the off ebay as a Manufacture Refurb)
When are these going to be available in Australia?
+metring073
can`t you order them worldwide ?
+Jürgen Kaßnitz
About nearly half (or maybe even more) the price on the speakers I would have to add for them to get shipped if I used Amazon
+metring073
upps :(
metring073 I'll buy em n ship em out to ya for a small finders fee , hehe .. but foreal lol anything to help a fellow friend who has passion for music.

How does elac b5/b6 compare to SVS prime bookshelf? Just curious about it!
so how are the b4 for desktop use?
try that speakers with marantz 1050 vintage . Bass and clear sound is amazing amzing serious amazing lovely sound
I wish they came with woodgrain finish
There's a rare walnut vinyl version they made for a store chain if you can find them used. Or wrap it yourself in a nice wood grained vinyl.
I don't know, I'll stick to my Vintage Pioneer HPM-100 for sound and power.
play them and let us decide?
+Leon A Lol "The quality on these speakers is remarkably similar to the quality on my laptop speakers. Total garbage."
+Tony Hoag A laptop user won't notice any difference for obvious reasons , play MP3 or FLAC its all same , isn't it?.
+Leon A I think the quality would get lost between the speakers and the reviewer's recording device. I had the same reaction as you, though, I wanted him to turn them on and hear some jams.
Why no back panel shots?
whys his lips moving like they dont want to
Bahajaj Ali
Bahajaj Ali Why would anyone care?...and...Why would anyone look at his lips?...and finally....are you homosexual?
Another free commercial for Elac speakers.
Yes, they do look like a cheap vinyl wrap speaker.
Believe me. They don't sound like a cheap vinyl wrapped speaker. 💓 these Elac's.

These are not efficient. what they don't tell you is you need a $5K amp to drive this. How is that budget?
a 40 rms amp is fine...
I have an ONKYO tx-RZ900, and it makes these speakers sound Amazing!!

Non-ported with heavy cones ?
rear speakers do not need to be that expensive .
Sent mine back. Ridiculously over hyped!!

WORST finition i have ever seen on speakers....
You know the reviewer is trustworthy when he can barely speak English.
They are overrated
