  • Driving my KIOTI tractor in tight spaces can be a lot of work; due to my advanced age. It takes a lot of steering input to move around the woodyard.
    I went out and got this for my steering wheel to make work a bit easier:

    Chris! I’ve been a RUclips watch for many years. I have several favorite channels. There is only one channel that I go to every day. There is only one channel that I’m disappointed when a video is not uploaded from. I don’t know how you do it! All of your videos are similar enough and yet they’re also disimilar enough to keep interest. The music selection and the ever-changing camera positions are wonderful examples of your creativity. Your sense of humor goes a long way to the quality of your channel. If you can keep this up, “In The Woodyard“ is on its way to being one of the very best snd most popular channels on RUclips. You may well end up with over 100,000 subscribers and RUclips could be an entirely new way to fund your retirement! I wish you all the best! Thank you for all the videos.

    You got a good deal on the steering spinner. I just bought one for my 4230 John Deere this summer from the JD dealership and it was $28. I suppose the extra cost was for the nifty John Deere logo on the knob. I was wearing a huge calloused lump on my left hand from mowing, raking, and baling hay with sweaty hands. The steering knob stopped that. 🤠👍

    I forgot to mention; I drive a big rig for a living. I have a spinner. I position mine between 7 & 8 o’clock. I’m right handed. It’s like putting a baseball mit on the left hand; it frees up the right hand to do what the left one CANT. You’ll probably find that it sucks to always have to reach to grab your spinner. Having it closer to me is what I prefer. Also, being to the side, it is a little more out of the way. Everyone positions theirs a little differently. Don’t be afraid to move it around the wheel and use it a few days in each spot to figure out what you’re most comfortable with.

    The Ash tree disease just started really ramping up here in NNJ, it was slow to start but now its like almost every tree is showing signs of either being dead, stress or bark blonde, I personally have like 30 tree's on my property that will need to come down, its a win for me but I'm just trying to manage it all, only cutting up the ones that a dropping limbs and leaving the more solid ones standing, hopefully it can last for 2 years so I can spread out the wood, hate to see it all rot at once.
    We also just started seeing the lantern fly (chinese moth) these are nasty buggers, apparently they like to overwhelm everything with there favorite tree's being poplar and maples, I also have tons of maple here so thats going to stink when it starts taking off.

      I went to high speed driving class in the mid-70s hosted by Los Angeles County Sheriff's office. Their biggest pet peeve involved deputies that put a suicide knob on the cruisers at the start of shift. Part of the class was teaching how to maneuver the wheel with two hands always on the wheel. Basically the left hand moves from 7 o'clock to 11 and back and forth, while the right hand moves from 1 o'clock to 5 o'clock. It was their way of doing it. One of the deputies in the class was there because he had a high-speed crash, so think remedial training. The deputy was adamant that once he got back into a cruiser, he would make sure it was equipped with a 'suicide knob' and that is what they called them.
      I am thinking You would have that guy, "Who needs instructions?"

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  2 года назад +1

      Oak will last longer than any one of us IF it is kept dry and off the ground covered. A lot of other wood can get bugs and turn to powder. An example of how long wood lasts, think about the wood in your home, the structure itself and the contents that are made of wood or wood materials. Kept away from the elements it will last a very long time. Good question Chris.
