@@sierralovesdogs yeah, we had one in a little cottage me and my buddy stayed in in the middle of an orchard out in Manteca YEARS ago. It was way smaller lol. But it would heat the place up real nice and kept the coffee pot hot at the same time.
Amazing cabin and a very German kitchen. You also have some right retro/vintage treasures in there, never just throw them out, I am sure there are a lot of collectors that would die for some of that stuff! You had amazing grandparents!
Wow, what an incredible place, in a beautiful setting. You're very lucky to have that refuge for your family, Sierra. Something to be said for keeping it as is and retaining the styles from when it was built. That retro 50s/60s/70s look is something to be treasured. However, it's very undertandable to want to modernise maybe bathrooms and kitchen spaces, and possibly your electricty and services + insulation - that could be done while retaining the retro vibe. I'd love a chance to take a closer look and have that as a project.
OMG, I love that cabin! So much history & so many things to explore! FUN!! So glad you shared! Also, I want you two to be our real estate agents to show off our house to get it sold! P.S. Microwave won't explode itself LOL :D
I love this! My grandparents on my dad's side had a small summer house on a lake but sadly the last time I went I must have been about 4 years old because my parents split up not long after. I still have lots of photos though!
Hi Sierra! The cabin is so neat! I'm in the season of life when I'm about to have to clear out my parents small cabin I Maine. It made me think of the task this place would be. WOW, they have A LOT of stuff! Thanks for sharing such a cool place!
Absolutely love the cabin, please don’t update it, it’s so precious, I stayed in a wood cabin in the red top mountains a few years back & being immersed in the nature was so refreshing, I’ve never seen a cabin so eclectic, your grandparents were amazing, thank you so much for showing us around 🇬🇧💙
The roof is metal - that is new no? Also history wall love it! The views are gorge. OMGosh the games. The captains room is great. All the passage ways are so fun. Restoring this cabin is going to be such a great project. Also, what the heck bit you on the arm?
@@sierralovesdogs I hate mosquitos and I get huge hives when I get attached. Yea I ask because we just put on a new roof and it was metal - it seems to be the newest thing.
Wow Sierra, This is so cool! How close do you live to this wonderful place? I don't know where a person would start...I guess with the desire to renovate which I feel could be hard. But would also make it more easily used. If you are going to make it a shareable place (like an Air B&B) I would find a consultant to help you make it ready for that. So much of the charm is in the story of your family. I would think there are ways to have it be rentable and also be able to keep parts of it private. My family made several trips to stay in wonderful cabins at Oak Creek Canyon in Arizona...they are right on the river like yours is and we had such great times there...one year we brought all the makings for Thanksgiving dinner. It was just so peaceful, and the air is wonderful!
Great video! I am really enjoying your channel! You are so positive and cheerful! We are in the process of selling ours, since we are in our uppoer 50's and just getting harder to take care of at our age. We have 40 acres of lakeshore here in Minnesota that is going up for sale next month.
@sierralovesdogs Pretty good! It has been in the family for 3 generations and we already live on acreage in western rural Minnesota, so we really don't need a get away place. All my kids are not interested and they are in their late 20's and 30's and left Minnesota for warmer climates. The hard part was the title to sell it since it was a in trust and that took 4 years.
@@KoolaBon oh wow! Yes ours is in a trust too. Property ownership is so complicated. Glad you are good with the decision! Sounds like it was the right one!
