I saw Leftfield in Liverpool in 96ish and the place almost crumbled to pieces with the volume. One of the best gigs I've been to and that was coming from a die hard metal head at the time!
Royal Court. I bought two tickets for my sister for her birthday who took her mate. I didn’t even think to get one for myself! Yes, it was one of the loudest gigs on record I do believe. My uncle saw them the same year at Phoenix Festival where they had two lads on BMX’s doing trucks on a half pipe as their backdrop!
“ Leftfield, London, June 1996 Electronic pioneers Leftfield caused pieces of plaster from the Brixton Academy ceiling to fall onto the crowd at their show in support of 1995 album ‘Leftism’ after reaching volumes of 137 dB, with crowd members reported as fainting under the physical toll of the noise. 137 dB, by the way, is the ear-bleeding equivalent of strapping yourself to the bottom of a Boeing 747 as it takes off.”
I've always wanted to know how the collaboration with John Lydon came about for the track "Open Up" off the brilliant album Leftism? I just imagine him going through his phonebook thinking who should i call who i think would be suitable?
hahaha - I had to double-check that this bloke isn't me! Sounds like all my preferences and experiences at the same time, back in London. I don't think he's me - but I'm not exactly sure... I'll have a quick look in the mirror.
I saw them a couple of times back in the 90s and the stuff about them being insanely loud was absolute ..ly true. FFS I was deaf for a day or two after Glastonbury 90-something in the dance tent. Not - I hasten to add - b/c it was just stupid bass, the sound system was pretty decent and all frequencies were present and correct and it was a great gig.. but just loud bass A F
@@lewisb85 I completely agree the Orb were fantastic too, also throw in the 2 brothers from Orbital. That's a room full of electronic musicians along with Lydon and Leftfield I think would be a great night of conversation for us both to join in with bro B-)
@@billymkirkwood4956 there was a very old round table interview I think one of the london or manchester unis put on (if anyone has it please upload), Neil and 3D from massive attack along with Moby and tony wilson as the chair, wow I remember it blowing my little mind when channel 4 aired it as part of their late night music thing they used to do.

He did mention playing guitar with Public Image Ltd, so there’s that connection to Lydon maybe
@@concretederek8055 Yes i later discovered he and John go way back, thanks

yeah I think they destroyed a load of plastering in brixton academy from the insane sound system they used to run.

Glaston...BURY...!
Is this GEoRGIAs dad??
Yes it is! That's where she gets her sound...her dad's heavy influence on electronic music.
Does he discuss John Lydon?
no, just mentions PIL at 1 time
great music , boring man , often the way
He's just normal, as always the case. Would love to talk music with neil.
Lewis Barrett I completely agree.. I could talk music with leftfield and John Lydon anytime!
@@billymkirkwood4956 him andrew weatherall and alex from the orb would be my choices, those guys are like music encyclopedias.
