Actual journalists don’t take money from organisations they cover. Helwani was a paid UFC shill. And it’s hilarious to compare the softball interview he gave Papa H to what he gave Khan.
Tony Khan has been denying and deflecting questions and critiques for the past three years, so nobody should be shocked by this. He has been getting underhand softballs pitched at him this whole time, so how are people expecting him to answer complex questions.
I love how Jim just cuts a swank promo off the top of his head on how he would have booked the MJF contract dispute storyline. 👌

TK - Again, I can't comment on anything to do with the weather that might affect several people and stuff, but I certainly have been very active looking at the rainy weather in Britain, where we've seen some strong ratings and we moved the show up, Britain has been such a good market for us and having Dynamite on on Friday nights at 8 has served us so well, those British fans are very brand loyal but also hungry for wrestling so it's been a perfect fit, when we approached iTV for the deal, I repeatedly asked them for a weekend gig to get close as possible to the old World of Sports timeslot but unfortunately we couldn't do that so we went with the Friday night slot
When he says “I don’t wanna talk about *blank*” he sounds like a kid who’s being asked about his day at school that had a bad day.

That's not even that hard of a situation. Anyone that's ever watched anything regarding business, sports or entertainment contracts has heard it before. "I'm not at liberty to get into details of ongoing negotations, but we blah blah blah....". That's a softball question for someone like Cornette.

Cornette's talent for being able to extemporaneously verbalize a promo or bullshit response is incredible. The best I ever heard in wrestling. Cornette might disagree with the notion but there has never been a better talker than Cornette in wrestling that I have heard.

Tony is so unbearable in these small clips. I can only imagine how frustrated Ariel must have been. I think the interview was over an hour.
Yeah it was an hour and seventeen minutes. I listened to some of it, thinking it would be like the interview Ariel did with HHH which was really good because HHH was pretty open all things considered. But I made it about 15 minutes in before I accepted that TK was never going to answer anything, continue going on and on with no answers and just spend the entire time promoting whatever show was coming up at the time. And seeing the clip recaps from it I now know that I made a good decision. TK really needs to get a solid PR person to either coach him, handle this stuff for him or both because he came off like such a goof with this.
And I believe the show he spent the entire interview promoting ended up going down like 15% from the prior week and was the lowest Rampage rating since July. Here’s to hoping (although it won’t happen) that TK eventually learns that nobody gives a shit about Battle of the Belts for a company that has overloaded the show with belts and done nothing substantial to make any of them outside of the AEW World Title mean something. And even the AEW Title isn’t because of something he did but more so just because of how great Mox has been.

After listening to this interview, and I'm a huge AEW fan, I can understand all the problems of the company come from one man and it's the owner. Someone in the public relations business should give Tony some lessons and tricks and cues. Saying out and loud that you don't want to talk about a journalist questions, is a cardinal sin in communications.

Now, to go onto a show knowing the in-depth knowledge of the wrestling business such as Ariel Helwani and essentially waste his time for an hour, you can see how it would get frustrating.
I do believe Grand Funk Master Chief could have got his point across in a more sensible way, but such is life I guess.

Just watch the Triple H interview with Helwani back-to-back with Tony Kahn's interview with him if you're a young talent with a lot of promise. You can figure out which guy you want to be signing your paychecks later in life
When looking at how things have gone over the past year or so I’m not sure why any young wrestler who has an offer from both companies would ever sign with AEW.
I can see why people went there intially when it was being portrayed at this land of creativity and a locker room paradise. But now that you see that hardly anybody who made the move from WWE to AEW has fared any better there outside of the top guys like Mox or Danielson I can’t see what would even tempt you about it anymore. Especially now that the biggest headache in WWE (Vince) is gone.
Outside of older wrestlers who want to work a light schedule for a large amount of money I can’t imagine anything about AEW that would appeal over WWE now. Once the current WWE transfers leave id be genuinely for anybody to choose AEW outside of being released by WWE and needing a job.
As it relates to talent i imagine they’ll become what TNA once was: a place where unknowns can get known to go to WWE or older WWE guys go for a light schedule.

Ive watched plenty of Tony Khan interviews. He literally does this every single interview. Although this was the worst one because he doesn't trust Ariel at all it seems, while he is an unbiased journalist who asks hard hitting questions to everyone he interviews. Unlike everyone else who interviews Tony Khan. Every interview is Tony going on and on about upcoming shows and every show that has happened in the past.
Let me add I am a fan of AEW so im not just hating on him for the sake of hating them.

I genuinely couldn't believe so many people were defending Tony Khan's performance here. A reporter is supposed to push. That's what they're for. Just last week I was reading an interview in El Pais where a Spanish politician gave the same non-answer six or seven times and the reporter kept circling back until she gave the paper something concrete. That's how an interview is supposed to go.
It's not like Helwani is asking about personal family matters here. He just wanted Tony on record about the company Tony is supposedly the boss of.
If I were Ariel I would have terminated the interview as soon as he started refusing to answer questions, what an absolute joke of an "interview".

I live in the UK. WWE is broadcast on BT Sport, a premium paid sports channel comparable to ESPN in the US.
AEW shows air on ITV4, a free TV channel that also broadcasts cult classic movies, classic action series' from the 60s, 70s and 80s, as well as a number of sporting events such as Horse Racing, Darts, Snooker and some less high profile Boxing and Football/Soccer matches. It's a fringe channel and Dynamite is broadcast at 1am UK time. If they get more than 10,000 viewers a week, I'd be amazed, every single one of which are already wrestling fans who have to actively seek it out.
