  • Welcome to my latest RUclips video, where we'll be taking an in-depth look at the process of replacing the parking brake shoes on a LBZ Duramax. But before we get to that, we need to finish up the installation of the U-bolts, a critical component of the rear suspension.
    Thank you again for your continued support, and I hope you enjoy this video. Please feel free to leave your comments and questions below, and I'll do my best to respond to each and every one of them.

    I found out after doing one side with the hub off you don't have to pull the hubs to do the ebrakes, I did one side hub off and one side hub on. You do it a few times it becomes really easy.

      So how would I do it with the hub on?

    How many bearings are in that rear hub? 2 or 1?

    You installed the shoe slack adjuster incorrectly. you’ve got the cog nut on the left side and it should be on the right so the cog ends up in front of the backing plate window. You can see the difference in before and after you took it apart

      I wouldn’t say there is a right way, or a wrong way. There is no window on the dust covers in this video. It’s going to operate the same way

      @@DIYDiesel the oblong hole directly behind it is the window, typically a rubber plug in place but that seems to be missing.

    So had a blow out on the freeway yesterday. Tire blew and the impact sheared off the brake caliper in half along with the parking brake assembly bracket mount. Do you know the part number for that and how I should go a part replacing that.

      @DIYDiesel  Год назад +1

      Oof glad your ok! That can be a scary moment. Unfortunately I do not know that part number. Your best bet is to call Hicksville Auto Recyclers in Ohio they are a duramax graveyard.

      @@DIYDiesel can I email you a video of what my truck is doing while in drive? I put the rear end on jacks and i only have the driver rear brakes connected since the passenger side is sheared off. When I brake I have to put it to the floor but the tires in the rear don’t stop they jolt and keep going. Does that mean it’s the differential? I have the video I can send to your email.

      @@coltonetsitty2631 just towed a 29’ camper this weekend with it. Towed great! I’ll be making a video on it shortly. I don’t recommend them on a daily driver. Someone who goes a lot absolutely, or hauls heavy loads in the box.
