I sincerely thank y'all and this channel for all your videos, these are all very valuable! I picked up a Pentax ZX-7 and also had stuck and buckled shutters. This and the quick shutter fix video helped me fix it so it's working again.

Bringing up an old video but I’ve received an ME Super (essentially for free) that had a similar issue with buckled secondary shutter blades. I’ve put them back in place using this method but they’re slightly warped now. Would this create an issue or do you have any suggestions on how to rectify the warping?
    Thanks in advance!

Hi I have recently got a pentax mz-m and I'm having issues with it. When I got it there was a film inside that was half used and I was able to snap through the rest of the film perfectly once i replaced the batteries. When I went to replace the film and turn the camera back on it just rewound the film as if the spool was finished. This has happened 4 times and I dont want to waste another film. Is there so maintanence ot something I can do to solve this problem?
A little back story the woman I got it off rarely used it and its in excellent condition apart from the issues above
your advice would be greatly appreciated :)

You can retrieve the leader with one of the various film leader retrievers available or go in to a dark room and slightly open the film slot so that the leader can be hooked with a bent paper clip. Firmly squeeze the slot closed once the leader is retrieved. Also the film can be removed and loaded into a reusable cartridge. As for the camera... Load a test roll with the back open and trick the camera by releasing the door latch with the door open. You can then see if the wind sprocket is hanging up. Check to make sure the rewind button is not stuck or damaged. Sometimes the past use of a pointed object to engage the rewind override button will damage the button or the switch beneath the button.

What model of camera? Likely the second curtain or blade set as not completed the cycle. Depending on the camera this video might help... ruclips.net/video/XwKnW1dMEtA/видео.html If not there are other camera specific FOC videos available.

I picked up ZX-M on Ebay. It was advertised as not working. And it doesn't. The auto-rewind kicks in upon loading film. Have you ever delved into trouble shooting the mid roll re-wind button?

+Roger Allison Sometimes the past use of a pointed object to engage the rewind override button will damage the button or the switch beneath the button. Check to make sure the button is not stuck down or the switch plate below does not have damaged contact tracing.

The plastic button it self is not stuck and springs back so I guess I will dig deeper. Time to buy some JIS screwdrivers.

It is permanent if there is no damage from the fat thumb or errant film leader that probably popped the blades out of position.

Hi, I picked up MZ-5 on Ebay, working OK. Now, few months later, the auto-rewind kicks in upon the 4th shoot. Any idea about this failure?, Thanks

The culprit for that symptom is usually the drive gear on the mirror/shutter motor shaft develops a crack and starts slipping.

hey sorry to bother but my camera is in perfect conditions but i can't see through the viewfinder, what could it possibly be? it's a pentax mz50, i can see through (kinda blurry) only when i take off the lens

Not the poster, but I have a Pentax MZ-50 that came with the same issue when I bought it. Older Pentax models were notorious for having mirror gear failures that essentially got the mirror stuck in an upwards position, rendering the viewfinder useless. There’s lots of videos and tutorials online showing how to repair it, hope you can figure it out soon :)
