You are undoubtedly the biggest one man operation that I have ever come across in my long life. Its great to see a young man making the most out of life, working hard for what you want and doing it like an old pro.
@Thomas Victorian i agree about office types when it comes to outdoor work lol .. only two things i would've done different , one make the pond a bit bigger , two put block bottoms on the ramps to prevent that extra stress on the hitch and truck when unloading and loading equipment that seems to be overweight for that trailer .
@@AQS521 fair enough :)) . i should of said i would've recommended they make it a bit bigger due to the fact another 5 feet or so would have made all the difference :))
Andy Iwanted to tell you how much I appreciate the drone shots at the end of many of your videos, especially when you fly it up above the treetops and pan around so we can see the larger topography. Its not just because the mountains and forest are pretty, either, although they are. Geology nuts like me want to see the larger picture after watching you dig up all the rocks you have hear the surface in your area. It adds some pieces to the geological puzzle. Thanks!
When you finished digging it out I couldn’t picture what it would look like with it filled with water, appreciate the follow up you made. Looks like a great little spot for a picnic and a splash.
i like the fact that you do follow up videos. it allows me and others to get the true perspective of the quality of your work. oh by the way - your work is quality.
You have a Good Soul . You have turned down jobs because the trees had a high chance of hitting the house . I’m glad you went out of your comfort zone on this one . I knew you could do it . And the pond really looks great . I really enjoy watching your videos . They can never be long enough . They are always interesting and you always do a GREAT JOB .
Wanted to share my story. I lived on a farm property I rented and out front near the house (of course) it was swampy as hell. Turns out the township had a culvert running under the road but - SURPRISE - wouldn't spring for a canal structure which ran along powerlines on the edge of my property. And worse - there were buried gas pipes (defunct, so I was assured) right along that area, so operating heavy equipment was completely out. I really would've rented a small excavator like yours to save myself a couple afternoons of heavy laboring but it was just too risky. And so I hand dug this two-foot wide trench for hundreds of yards. The nice thing was that the ever-flowing water aided in widening and deepening my man-made channel. But the greatest part of this outcome: no more swamp! Almost overnight, all that lingering, stinky water which had no place to drain to, simply vanished. Also, I managed to dig this canal long enough that I met up with an old pond towards the rear of my property which expanded a habitat for frogs, fishes, and turtles. Everyone was a winner.
Always getting the job done for your clients with their best interests in mind, not to mention getting it done with what equipment you have available. Great Work!
I like how when the music starts playing everything stays in real time then, after a few seconds; the fastness happens. This is some what the case in Andrews videos. Good Work
The rock work at the pond overflow made a big difference. The attention to detail you put into a job makes for good word-of-mouth advertising. You SAVED the home owners by taking down that huge dead tree that was leaning over their house. Commendable job. Thanks.
Yeah leave it to the British to be up for a cold swim on a hot Summer's Day :-) it's a beautiful British lab you got there Andrew. I love them best duck dogs in the whole wide world man! They swim like fish. Well you can tell he's British as you can tell that beavertail anywhere. I used to raise British labs and you're the most amazing dogs when they're three years old... Before then you'll lose your mind with an eating and chewing everything and they are high-energy up until then.
Absolutely fabulous videography Andrew. Nice work falling that Ash away from their home. I see the emerald ash borer has wiped out all the ash trees there too. You’ll be working on those for the next few years until a really big storm comes through. They start splintering off at about 12 feet from the ground after standing dead for three or more years. Glad to see you wearing proper head gear. Thanks for the great content.
What a beautiful little pond! Nice job Andrew. And you are a brave man for working under that dead Ash tree. Can not believe they let that stand so long! You did them a huge favor. A lot of tree companies started refusing working on those after a couple years of them being dead. Very dangerous. No doubt why their other guy was a long term no show. You didn't hesitate!
Add Jack's at the back of your trailer and put them down before you load it. That will stop the front of the trailer and the back of the truck from Raising in the air, and it's much much better on that cheap Dodge transmission that will absolutely break the parking pawl as it tries to roll forward and backwards and bounce up and down. A $40 Jack can save your $4,000 transmission.
I've been watching almost all of this guy videos and this guy never fail to amaze me to what he's done. Always work alone supported only by some poor little machines which I always doubt it will do the work in the beginning and find out that i was wrong. At the very end of the video it always showed the project location from high above, and as always, it is located in the middle of nowhere.
Great Video Andrew, you need to get an hour recording of the water flowing over those rock is very soothing. Good eye on that dead tree perfectly executed.
I swear.this guy is a genius and i mean this with the upmost respect. He is the only guy i have ever seen to use the bush blade as a push blade and not a sabilizer.
We always put a small section of an 8x8 beam, like maybe an 18" long piece under the back of the trailer between the ramps when loading and unloading our equipment, or sometimes two of them; works well to keep the trailer from flexing and keeps the truck's wheels on the ground.
A little bit of grease to those pins and a lot less bucket dragging will prevent those pins from shearing. But it's too late already. The bucket pins and thumb are so loose you're going to snap a pin one of these days, and the cost of line-boring that to get it all nice and tight again is way more expensive than the cost and time spent greasing a machine properly.
The merdog strikes again. LOL I think the siding is what makes the house look like it "Kind of built like it couldn't take a tree hit". It might be in good shape under the prehistoric shingles.
Andrew, I can see using the old dodge caused a lot of controversy in the comments section here lol. I am surprised you didn't use the F-800 dump to move the Yanmar? If I used that truck in CT to move your excavator the cops would pull me over instantly.I will say you did get lucky on the old dead oak tree, 9 out of 10 times that tree would have gotten hung up, God must love you buddy! I did like the pond you cut in, I think with some nice landscaping in a few years it will grow in nice.Dave in CT
I nave done that a lot of times to my P/U. I use short logs under the back of the trailer and it limits the downward movement of the trailer and saves wear and tear on the trailer and tires. The tree was scary. A lot of things could have gone wrong as dead trees are totally unpredictable. But it went right and we get paid for taking chances. Good video!
Great job Andrew ! that dog will be happy for a cool swim this summer. ... nice camera shots ... I like how you get the most out of your Eq. ... thanks for sharing
There is no way I would have dug a pond in that natural stream, made the cuts on any tree the way you did, attempt to push such a big tree with a small machine, done the tree work alone, or even considered doing the tree work at all with the hazards at hand, nor would I have used that dinky trailer for the excavator, nor would I have loaded it without more precautionary measures BUT WHO GIVES A SH.. Hell of a job catching that tree before it killed someone . Just one storm blowing in the right direction and that would have been it . You should weld you up some wedge ramps for that trailer . Would like to see that video too .
Yes, that would work. Big wood blocks would probably be best, the sideways motion might nock jack stands over. But it loads easy like that, its almost like a tilt bed trailer, LOL. I rarely move that machine on that trailer.
Dang! You must be in a small town. I've got to have a dust control guy spraying a hose even if it's straight mud, DOT would have pulled me over before I left my driveway hauling that tractor behind that truck, and there would have been an EPA butt nugget counting cactus (our version of trees out here in the desert) making sure there were the same amount as when I showed up. Glad to see you able to get stuff done out there.
