Primitive fishing teaches patience and the reward for that patience is a delicious meal that has greater value. Adding the abundance of wild fruit to the regional gastronomy makes the meal even that much better.
The fishing rod is made of a branch from a currant bush. The eyes of the rod are made of clay and tied to the branch with yucca cordage. The fishing line is made of 50% yucca fibers and 50% my hair. The sliding sinker is just a clay bead I made. And the hook is an ocotillo cactus thorn.
To cook the fish I created a friction fire using the bow drill method with unknown materials. I burned branches for about half an hour until there was a nice bed of hot coals then I made a grill by cross weaving split green willow branches. I placed the grill with the whole gutted fish over the coals and allowed it to cook for about twelve minutes. I flipped it over one time during the cooking process. It was delicious!

My biggest catch so far is a 56 kg tarpon from the Florida coast.
I real wonder why you lnomaily enjoy alone protein from fish and yet I'm here starving my dear ❤😂
Nowhere to enter the code fyi
33.51KG Nosy shark
after playing like 2 hours, finally i was able to catch a (boss fish) 44,17kg Yellow Eye.
The intro speech is back! Thanks for listening to my feedback Chad. Greetings from Pavle from Serbia!
I hope it is well received.
I liked the fact that this video was recorded in a biome other than the desert or jungle. There are new plants, animals and maybe agriculture would work better. Which biome do you prefer overall, Chad?
This place is so close to heaven. Every biome has its special advantages and disadvantages. This one is great during the summer but it is all snow in the winter. My hut is great in the summer and fall but so cold in the winter. The desert is good in the cooler months as long as there is a reliable source of water nearby and edible foods. The jungle is warm year round but you deal with terrible humidity at times and lots of biting insects. I like the nomadic lifestyle best where one moves from place to place following the food and resources.
Ok
@@ChadZuberAdventures 😍= Spiritful Nomad
I don't think people realize how tedious it is to make that fishing rod. Especially the line. I am always impressed with your videos. Great job.
The line is very tedious. It's about 20 feet long and that is actually not a lot of time for me, only about two hours of work.
My favorite part besides you finally catching a fish was the primitive ad roll. Excellence!
I'm glad you like it. Many don't.
@@ChadZuberAdventuresI got a kick out of it. Especially when you smiled, all tickled like a kid! 😀
Thanks again@@lindaseel9986
congrats on the sponsorship!
Thanks
The primitive cooking is so interesting
And so tasty!
That place looks like paradise compared to everywhere else you've ever been
This place is close to heaven! I love it!
@@ChadZuberAdventures I Can only imagine
The primitive infomercial made my day! LOL
Lol. I’ll say, your one of the most resourceful men I’ve ever seen. That’s pretty cool, I’ve never seen a primitive fishing rod that ornament lol. Great work buddy.
An official victory for Mr.Chad vs fish!
I am so happy to see you can live independently in the wild as a strong human being, my brother ❤❤❤
This was a nice a relaxing video, glad to see that your still posting!!
Glad you enjoyed!
It's YOU'RE *
Thanks to Chad we can now appreciate more the fact that we can bring food to our mouth in such a convenient and easy way. Before throwing away that piece of meat that you don't like much, think about primitive humans and even modern ones that would consider that piece of meat a luxury.
NEVER throw away meat! In my opinion that is a great sin. An animal gave it's life for a person to eat. Giving thanks and eating all of the animal gives honor to the animal and meaning to its life.
@@ChadZuberAdventuresAgreed, I'm a vegetarian but will eat meat if someone will otherwise throw it away. Throwing meat away is obviously even less ethical than eating it
That place is beautiful❤ reminds me of a place my dad always took us camping. Yucca is an amazing tool. Great video!
I felt like I was so close to heaven here.
@@ChadZuberAdventurescame back for a rewatch, your 3rd wall breaks are hilarious 😂
Fishing videos are my favourite, keep up the good work.
I really enjoyed this primitive trout fishing video, thanks for posting. Reminds me when I was a kid and put anything together so I could fish trout in my local river. Brings me back to simpler times. Now I got more fishing gear than a guy could ever need. But it’s good to see things like this. Shows people the humble beginnings.
My dad gave me all his saltwater gear. Now I have lots of big game gear for chasing tuna and even marlin but I haven't even used it. My uncle told me about a time when he found a nail, bent it in the shape of a hook, tied a line to it and gave it to my cousin. She found grasshoppers for bait and came back with three trout.
Chad, you work way too hard for your viewers. Thank you so much for the quality content.
I try. Nobody can deny that I work hard.
Hello again my friend.
Here's something you may or may not have tried.
After gutting the fish...Collect wild green edibles and yes fruit if any are ripe.
Wash the edibles and without drying stuff the inner cavity of the fish with them along with any fruit you may have.
Cook just like you did in this video.
When the fish is ready you have the protein from the fish and fresh greens to go with it.
Depending on what type of wild edibles you have it may flavor the fish quite nicely.
PS. - You already know that I'm all about fishing so yes I have played fishing clash before.I was pleasantly surprised at the realistic look of the fish.
Until next time stay safe and healthy my friend !
Yes, I have stuffed fish before like you describe. Maybe in another future video I will do a more elaborate cooking. Thanks.
Your adverts are the best, I am watching them even if I am not interested in the product :) Advert guys should reward you generously :D
Never saw this cooking technique, nice!
Glad you liked it. Thank you!
It was a great episode. Your fishing rod is pretty awesome. Cheers, Chad! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️
Thanks. I've made and used this style before.
Agreed very cool
Appreciate it chad. I always enjoy these.

The ad roll caught me off guard 😂😂😂
sometimes we cant catch fish with a professional equipment but you did it even with stick and that brutal hook. good job! 😅
Glad your back after your hospital stay, when are you going to make a pemmican video? Very interested in that.
I've been thinking a lot about making a pemmican video. I'm not sure when I will do it though.
It's YOU'RE * back.
@@solidsnakesimulation666 wow I’m glad you were on patrol!!!
I suspect you could carve yourself some very good hooks out of that cow bone you have back at the hut. At least you would be able to add a barb to keep the fish on the hook easier. Great job on the clay eyes! I would have never thought of that!
Carving hooks out of bone is quite tedious and difficult. I've done it but the hooks didn't work.
The river water is very clear and cold for sure
Yes, very cold.
Primitive fishing is definitely challenging. I always try to approach a stream from down stream and cast up and allow the bait to drift back down towards me as I slowly make my way up stream. Trout will lay facing and looking upstream when there is any current and will see you approach and spook if they see you coming. But sometimes it's just not possible and staying low and still as you did was great. I've caught me largest trout right in the white water where small waterfalls flow into a run. Just flicking my fly upstream and letting it flow downstream over the fall. The fish always smash a fly (or bait) really hard in these locations because if they don't they miss their chance at getting a feed. Looked like a great relaxing location 👍🏽
Yes, those are good tips. I've fished this same stream before with a lot more success. I think it was just the time of year mostly. But I caught at least ten the last time (of course using modern fishing gear that time). But still I expected more bites on this outing. I still have to practice and hone my primitive fishing skills.
Yeah primitive fishing is definitely a lot more challenging than using modern gear. And then when you add the whole setting up cameras and feeling the pressure to actually catch something for the video it can make it almost not enjoyable.
@@RobsBushcraftandAdventures The filming part is particularly challenging especially when the fish aren't biting well. I was fortunate that I had the camera rolling when I got this one because it was the only bite I had.
2:24 WOW! You should name that place Eagle's rock!
It looks just like an eagle! I thought that too.
Great job here Tarzan looks like you caught some huge fish
HI CHAD 😊 Long time no see. You ok?
Your fishing rod is a work of craftsmanship. Thanks for another interesting and amazing video
Yeah I'm well now. I had a lot of obstacles come my way, one after another for a whole month.
@ChadZuberAdventures I'm so sorry to hear that. I thought you were just busy with work. Good job you are physically fit and well as mentally able to overcome any adversity
@@Drea-lt6xh It knocked me down but I've been fighting to get back up. I can still do 20 pull-ups and run 6 miles with no problem.
@@ChadZuberAdventures God bless you. Take care Chad
This episode was awesome man, keep the pace😁👍one day chad zuber will be the king of the jungle
Maybe....
Chad, I'm from New Mexico, and the trout there usually hide under rocks and what not, 9/10 you can just reach under there and yoink 'em.
They hide under the edge of the bank here but not on this day.
@@ChadZuberAdventures Oh shit, Chad! I've been watching you for years! I remember all of the middle aged women in your comments goin' crazy.
Finally Chad you catch a fish.
Super my brother ❤❤❤❤
I've been watching a veeery long time to see you finally make that catch haha. Very rewarding
I've caught fish before. Maybe you just didn't see those episodes.
One thing that might help your fishing is to put something in the water to attract the fish. Not sure exactly what would work but I have seen people throw many different things. From raw/rotten meat/fish too, pieces of bread, grubs, maggots, insects, prawns, spices, and so on. Maybe do some experiments to determine what kind of bait the fish are interested in? Or what scent they might like?
Yeah, that's called chumming. In many places it is illegal. It's very effective with certain species in the open ocean.
Que bom que você voltou com os vídeos. Deus abençoe
Wow sweet fish
Dude you are great, I admire you.
Nice content from Indonesia, remind me Alewild from Papua which is more abundance place to survive 👍
Awesome video Thanks
I thought this was a primitive technology video, and then i got jump scared by the fishing clash ad. I loved it though! 😂
also just downloaded the game

I couldn't help but laugh a little when I saw the sponsor segment Good to see you getting the support to keep the channel going!
what a beautiful place
You should do the free hand style to catch fish. Stack up the rocks toward the top of the water. So when the fish enter the C shape trap it blocks them you can catch them.
YAYYYYYY🎉NEW VIDEO
It must be amazing to be able to make pottery, it opens up A WORLD of opportunities! It's incredible that God give us something soooooooooo useful that is primitive.
If you couldn't use clay, what do you think you would do??
That's a Golden Trout. Only lives in waters over 9000 feet. Native to southern Sierra Nevada range of California.
Fish hang out AR a "feeding station" in calmer water watching the moving water for food. That's like the place the first fish was caught.
It's usually best to approach fish from downstream since their eyes are pointed upstream as they fight the current to remain stationary.
What a beautiful location. Thanks for another wonderful video, Chad.
Yes Chad, you need to be in the right place at the perfect time to catch fish, so you succeeding was even more enjoyable. Cheers. 👍
I've had better fishing days in this area before.
@@ChadZuberAdventures oh ok. Is that the only place you can fish in? I'm guessing there are not many places out there.
There are tons of places to fish out here. I just have done really well in this same part of the stream before.@@stefan.5987
What a beautiful 😍 place ❤
the sound of the creek flowing is soothing, chad i play Fishing Planet on pc,its the best fishing simulator game, but ill download fishing clash on my phone,ok i played this game before
i will never understand how come someone so muscular and clearly not-skinny can sustain himself on a tiny fish and berries... if i eat that small fish i will be hungry in 30 minutes afterwards and loose weight if i dont eat properly
I have lost weight. I lose weight on every outing.
I adore your videos!
You are an inspiration, thank you so much for all of your hard work. Keep it going my dude!
Thank you buddy!
What local bugs are near by? Making "flies" that resemble them work great and also look under rocks for mosquito larva which I've heard works wonders ;). Opening the stomach to see what the fish have been eating is also a great source of info. You're a legend. Love these videos
Those are all good tips. Mosquito larvae however are generally found in stagnant water. They lack the power to fight currents. I didn't think to investigate the stomach contents.@@f-stoprentals
I do love your video, brother ❤❤❤
I couldn’t quite tell, did you make a stringer to hold your caught fish?
I didn't talk about the stringer but it is made from an agave thorn and yucca fibers.
Amazing, good job
ما اجمل هاذه الحياه ❤

Whether you choose to place the fishing ad at the start or finish of the video, watching it in between is not recommended for you 😊
It's usually not up to me where the ad goes.
Have you considered trying to make a bone fish hook
I have made a few but they failed to work when I tested them. It's really hard to carve a good hook from bone or shell. I've invested lots of time already without success.
The ads tho 💀
TBH, the commercials about electronics were jarring… 😂
But they pay the bills.
Hey chad great video man I was wondering the next time when you catch fish or cook smoked meat or make Palo verde beans you could possibly use lard from a dead peccary/javelina if hunted and caught and sea salt you could get from the beach it would make it taste amazing.
I recently saw javelina. That gave me hopes of eventually spearing one or something. No palo verde beans this year. The late spring rains knocked off all the flowers in May. I didn't find a single palo verde seed. Hopefully next year will provide a good harvest. I actually prefer sprouting the palo verde beans now. They are more pleasant to eat as sprouts. They are actually really good as bean sprouts.
Awsome
You might be better off setting up passive fishing lines. Just an idea. You could possibly make a fly fishing hook with grass, fur and the feathers you have
How do you pick out areas that generally don't have any predators around?, or if you did found any predators what did you encountered?
There are predators but remember that humans are usually the greatest predator and other animals avoid humans most of the time.
Awesome
My favorite videos
This place is beautiful, is this in Arizona?
good night my brother
Caveman discovers forest. Forest good. Not like Desert. Desert hot. Burn Grug skin with hot sun.
That's the general thought pattern of a caveman.
Yes!
The area you´ve been in doesn´t look untouched for some reason. Perhaps you´re not the only one there :)
There are people all over the world. This area has a long history of native people gathering food as well as Europeans settlers and explorers passing through.
Nice equipment :D
Shimano gear is the best! :-)
13:40 Is that a shelf fung in the firei?? Great fire keeper!
No, it's not. You might be confusing the charcoaled wood or just a rock.
4:22 with the way he was flopping, and the quick current of the stream, I'll bet a dip net would be really useful too. Fairly straightforward to construct, too, if a bit tedious.
Yeah, a bit tedious and time consuming to make all that string. I actually have a net hanging in my hut. It just holds things.
Dude! 8 comments on this one video, back off creep.
Shameless plug😂😂
end made me laughing so hard when u turned from nature to and dont forget to download fishing clash ahahaha

Nice video
5:02, you know, looking at the clay eyes has me thinking, what if you tried to make a reel from clay? with the edges flared out to keep the line centered, you could score one edge with notches, and make a pivoting lever against the body of the pole, to lock the reel in place. If that makes any sense?
I'm already ahead of you on that one. I've already started working on a design.
@@ChadZuberAdventures oooh please make a video on it!!! On all of your fishing stuff, even the stuff that failed! Who knows what will inspire us to be creative ourselves!
@@mattparker9726 I've got some other video topics to cover first but meanwhile I will be doing some development of the idea and testing it out.
1:42 have you considered making fly lures?
I've made a few but they didn't pass testing.
The only person who could ever match your skill, Chad, is probably Les Stroud.
I appreciate your faith in me but there are plenty of others that are far more skilled than me.
🎉I found the magyar languaged Tarzan books. Thank you Chad, good for our family mambers to read about in Europa. WAS IT STRESSING, DID YOU MADE THAT📕♂️?
I don't understand
For the next videos of huts, i recommend using mud roof tiles for the roofs, so you don't need to switch roof every raining! Have a nice day/evening/night, pal!
Yeah I would need much stronger woof so that it could withstand the weight of an earthen roof.
@@ChadZuberAdventuresI hope you use my recommendation! It would be so much less work for you! When i made my hut with this type of roof, i fixed only 2 times last year! I hope it helps you!
@@sportsy69 I want to build more huts out here using different methods. The bark roof actually works very well. I just need to spend the time to collect another big load of bark to put on the roof and it should be good for a few years. I literally used all the bark that is reasonably close to me so now I need to travel further to get it and that is the delay I've had.
@@ChadZuberAdventuresi'm not saying that it need to be All of the next episodes, just some of them
I have a saying that has always worked for me.. when you think like a fish you will catch a fish. lol or if your wanting to catch a cat fish just say here kitty kitty kitty when you cast your line in the water. lol of course it only works if there are fish where you cast. 🤣
Yep, gotta have fish in the water first.
I would be leery in that area, certainly looks like bear and mountain lion country.
I’m more leery in most major cities
you could mash those berries and add them to the stomach cavity of fish and animals you catch and cook to add wonderful flavor to them, plus they can still be eaten after
Have you woven a yucca "tarp" yet?
