You make me want to use every distro you review lol. My production machine is Fedora and my play machine is ArchCraft, but I’ve even running Linux Mint without issue on the machine my wife uses for 6 years. Really solid distro
I actually like the change from older kernels to tracking Ubuntu. I know many new to Linux users who install Mint on new hardware and have compatibility issues left and right on a fresh install. They often don't understand what the problem is, because the idea of a monolithic kernel is alien to them. In this case, having newer kernels often solves more problems than they create. Just don't go bleeding-edge. That's all I ask.
I just subscribed to your channel and have been watching some of your videos. I'm really excited to see a video about the '20 Things I Must Do After Installing Linux Mint 22'. I'm super new to Linux, currently just a few days into using Linux Mint 21.3 with no prior experience in any distro. Your tips would be a huge help. Thanks in advance 🫡
I think I started with mint five. Really liked it, but wandered around with different distro's. They have been very consistent in their approach and not swayed by alternate tablet type control. Well done. I think it might be time for me to play around with the new version. Any problems with jelly fin?
Titlebars are part of what started Cinnamon, when Gnome 2/3 split happened way back in 2008-2011. If you don't want titlebars, you might prefer something else. Cinnamon is about keeping the old style, on purpose. You gotta learn your Linux history / lore...
In my experience your more likely to have bugs from a bleeding edge desktop environment more than an up to date Kernel, for instance Garuda Cinnamon is crazy stable while being enormously up to date. I mention the previous statement because Garuda Dragonized and Gnome are both littered with bugs thanks to KDE and Gnome being less stable on the latest releases, at least on my PC with an Nvidia GPU. Right now I am maining Mint 21.3 until Linux Mint 22 comes out which btw I am so excited about. Mint is just the all around perfect OS with no BS developed for the User before anything else, I really love it!
Hi, I’am having problems with Mint 22 slow boot about 5mins runs ok after boot. Tried to fix boot problem now I have no network noticed realtime clock was running slow so replaced bios battery. Rebooted took approx same time but my keyboard doesn’t work mouse touch works still no network or network manager any advice would be most welcome many thanks for your videos.
Well I have been using Ubuntu 24.04 LTS since its release and it has been pretty stable. So I figure this new Linux Mint should be stable and might be easier to use and without snaps. But Ubuntu is good enough for me and started to get use to Gnome.
Linux Mint Debian Edition 6 already killed the main Ubuntu-based edition for me. The original Mint Cinnamon desktop and the worlds best Linux distro "Debian12" now have a baby called Faye. 😁
Did the upgrade from 21.3 to 22. It pretty much gutted most of the apps I use. I was smart enough to do a Clonezilla backup first. Reverted back to 21.3. 22 sucked.
Just ditch X11 and implement Wayland natively on Cinnamon. X11 can't get SFTP on KDE Connect right. It always directed to empty directories, yet it works perfectly in Hyprland.
I used gnome for few days. It's not considering user themes for some applications and window keyboard shortcuts are not helpful. Thing that I like in Gnome is Wayland display server. Now using Mint cinnamon everything is fine, but missing Wayland support.
But the latest version came with few issues for me. First the Software Manager didn't work for me. I posted in Linux Mint forums. As per the suggestions given by experts I removed flatpack and mintinstall lot of times and reinstalled. But nothing worked. Somehow one day the Software Manger worked on its own without any fix which was strange. And now Nvidia drivers are not working. Not able to install the drivers and because of this even the upgrade from 21.3 to 22 failed before. I had to perform a clean install because 21.3 got bricked. Now waiting for a solution for this to be fixed.
Your video is so great !!Would you be interested in reviewing Vinchin's backup software function of linux backup? We would like to send you a free full-feature license. We can discuss pricing details further.
PLEAZE LINUX MINT!!! update those icons and visual styling! Your base is well created BUT those icons wow :( at least make the visual stuff much easier for newbies.
There are tutorial videos about how to spice up your Linux Mint OS including the themes that you can download and install. I've been using Linux Mint for 2 years now and I have no problem with it's looks. I installed CBlue theme, made the toolbar transparent and put the toolbar icons in the middle. I also used Adwaita icons. And for the wallpaper, I downloaded applications like Wonderwall and Wallpaper Selector so now I have access to thousands of beautiful wallpapers.
maybe when debian update we will see some of those features from 22 being ported upstream, but as of now, no updates are planned from what i read on their blog
Oh well. I'm sure it is all fun and games. But why bother? Everything was perfect with Mint since 2009. Actually probably since 2006. Sure I'll probably get around to updating my xfce version of mint on my machines at some point. But there is no pressing need for it. It's not like I'm using Apple, Windows, or Ubuntu. Once on Mint there's nothing to do ever again but work on your real work.
SNAPS are NOT everybody's favorite package--- it's CRAP... every time I mess with snaps- I get crashes and glitches galare and most everybody I talk to hate them also.. they're CRAP..
plss i am facing a problem in linux mint i cant connect to wireless wifi my adapter is connected and its even shwoing in terminal but no wifi option thats why i hate mint :(
isn't the MATE version (based on gnome 2) suitable? I use that all the time cos low RAM, does everything I need and has such a simple and intuitive menu system.
When you click from one spot to another and talk fast it makes it very difficult to follow what you are doing, please slow down and inform what you are doing with each click as us newbies just cannot follow you that fast. As a result I stopped watching as it was frustrating me! Thanks
I doubt it's unchanged cos the download size is like double it was 5 years ago. To be honest, for an OS, I think the main thing is functionality and stability. New things are for the software. Not sure what mint is missing that you need? Some more wallpapers? eh eh
Nothing exciting in this ver. of linux mint, Nothing, a little bit under the hood but nothing that user will see or feel. He denied himself that there were a lot of changes but not so many of them.

Your marriage OS is pretty stable
Linux mint has been excellent for the last few years. So stable
@@kuroxelljokes aside 😂😂, power of mint ✌️✌️ most stable & reliable Linux 😎
Linux Mint is a breath of fresh air. I can't wait for the official release to upgrade to Mint 22.
Have a new pc build I'm waiting - impatiently! - to get LM22 onto with a dual disk system.

Totally loving your content... So looking forward to more videos on the new Linux mint. ❤
Wish and hope that someday soon they'll include the Burn-My-Windows effects as Extensions in Cinnamon.. that would be very cool.

I wonder if the next version of Linux Mint will be named Fred?
I love Mint. I wish Cinnamon would get a visual update. Those extra titlebars I always wish would go away.
I wish cinnamon would allow more fully rounded corners on windows. Only a selct few apps have this, i think the gnome ones.
@@ZiadElsayed1797 no the thing that goes above windows of any app. And above the menu bar of the app.

Hey Wilma!!! Yaba daba doo! 😂
LM 22 or LMDE 6?
Will LMDE update in a similar fashion?
Nope. It's Debian based so has it's own release cycle.
@@LinuxTex rubbish!

LMDE is already ahead of the ubuntu based one seeing as the ubuntu one is based on Jammy and LMDE is based on Deb12
I use Linux Mint. It’s incredibly stable, but visually it’s not as appealing as other distros. Mint needs a visual refresh (standardized icons, etc.).
Cinnamon looks like shit

yup, that's one reason why Mint so much better than Ubuntu. Ubuntu have made a dire mistake focusing on snaps.

You way overhyped it. There is literally nothing innovative here. It is the same untouched undeveloped mint from like 5 years ago.
Then switch to windows. I am sure they are better because they make better updates right? 🤔
No one likes big changes, that kind of supposed "big changes" are marketing or worse tecnologies presented like "better"

It works with zero fuss. That's why mint exists. Being on the bleeding edge has drawbacks.
