Gale of Waterdeep, Mystra's student. Gale of Waterdeep, Mystra's companion. Gale of Waterdeep, Mystra's lover. his lines also imply that Mystra wasn't the warmest partner. he has no frame of reference for anything else, just a high stakes, high powered, intense whirlwind of a "romance". so a genuine, caring, warm relationship where there's no expectation to be the most brilliant person in the room, to be worthy of a goddess, is unfamiliar to him. being told to kill himself probably doesn't help either. I've been in a very similar situation and it's terrifying, suddenly being on your own like that. you feel like you're nothing without that person, that you're losing the one person who understood you, who loved you in a way no one else could. but it's a lie. it's all a lie. and deep down, you know it, but acknowledging it requires you to acknowledge you are a victim, that you've been hurt. and that's one of the hardest things you can do. because you're special, you're different, you're Gale of Waterdeep, you can't be hurt, can you? thank you, Baldur's Gate 3. I never thought I'd see the catharsis of helping a fictional character heal the way I had to heal.
Haven't explored Gale's romance yet so I didn't know all this informations and could not understand him at this point, but I too had a similar experience in my life. Breaking up after 8 year of relationship, with a person I grow with it felt terrible, and still feels after 2 years. Now I want to experience a full romance with Gale, boy deserves better
Even his previous mortal lovers never truly loved or respected him. They loved his magic and what he could do with it, but when you tell him you want the real Gale, not illusions, he'll comment about how nobody has ever loved him that way before.
In my current playthrough I’m romancing Gale for the first time (repeatedly ended up romancing Astarion in my previous playthroughs 😂) and his depth and relatability hits different - I always found him a bit meh in my other playthroughs and didn’t really focus on him too much but now that I do, I find him so relatable and having my Tav help him to heal from his trauma is, as you said, extremely cathartic for me as well.
I am obsessed with Gale. I wish there was more than one "romance" scene with him. After a hard day of battle, I just want to cuddle up with my loving man. The first one was so beautiful. I am mad at myself for not making a save so that I can revisit that moment.

glad to see a little gale appreciation amongst all the astarion love. i adore them both, don’t get me wrong! but gale was my first full release romance and i totally, very embarrassingly fell so in love with his character. i’d go sneak a kiss from him after stressful events and it would make everything feel less awful 😭💕
I adore them both as well (I love all the characters, they are so amazing), but Gale was my early access romance and I knew then I wanted to do his romance first for full release. His was just so lovely and sweet.
I started my first playthrough fully intending to romance Gale but I admit I fell for Astarion's complexity. I'm starting a second playthrough now just to show Gale some love cause he deserves it
I am the opposite haha. Did the Gale romance for my first playthrough, doing Astarion for my second. Both are amazing, but for different reasons. The characters are just so unique and complex.
it's hard bc i feel like Larian REALLY focused on Astarion's story. I romanced him first and that's my one complaint about the Gale romance is that there isn't as much of not just the big scenes but the little moments. i still adore Gale, but they definitely did him a little dirty with the lack of content for him IMO.
Everyone loves to poke fun at Gale because of him being thirsty.. but im so glad that I get to romance him on my first playthrough. Everyone has been raving about Astarion and good thing I didnt go with the hype (Astarion’s still awesome though dont get me wrong), but Gale.. he is just so loving, so sincere and if you reach the epilogue, he is just so DEVOTED to you that even though I am a married woman, he still makes me blush like a teenage girl. He is so SO SO well written and I thank the heavens for Larian especially Tim Downie for breathing life into him 💜
I really love Astarion's romance plot too, but I agree that Gale gets such an undeserved bad rep. A lot of people discount him because he eats their boots, but get past that, encourage him to see himself as more than his own magic, and he's such a love. I smile so hard during all the romance scenes.

I know! The entire last line is so beautiful, I melt. Not gonna lie, sometimes I just repeat it a few times because Tim Downie did such an incredible job on portraying the emotions. The cast are all so amazing, the hype is well deserved.
That is incredible! He nailed it though. He really did. Truly one of my favorite scenes. Props to the writers as well. The voice acting and writing are so insanely strong.
I benched Gale for my first playthrough because I didn't know how to play a wizard. For the second playthrough I brought him along everywhere and was surprised that unlike most other companions, he doesn't only provide one liner reactions to many plot points. He almost always have a verbal essay ready, with deep analysis and pros and cons of what we can do next. Very meticulously written by the whoever wrote him. It's refreshing and it gives his character a different kind of depth compared to the others. And he won't have any chance to unleash these essays if he's benched at the camp. He's a damn wise advisor and listening to him makes you feel like you have something solid to hold on in the journey. Don't sleep on him people! Astarion is still my favorite romance, but Gale's a great character too, regardless if you romance him or not.
You are so right. I used him throughout my entire first playthrough and really enjoyed his miscellaneous tidbits. My second playthrough, he's been on the bench and I really miss his quips.

His whole arc is very good, especially if you persuade him to give up his quest for power. As a romance option, it's very sweet and satisfying to hear him toss all that aside because he doesn't need it all as long as he has you. Made me melt.
Oh my goodness, his line "You will always be enough for me" got me teared up😢 I've always struggled with the concept of being enough, of being needed and wanted as I am and those words, whether I hear it from a character or a real life person, I feel like crying from happiness. Words are truly like magic, aren't they?❤

It was a combo of dialogue choices where my Tav shot down the idea of getting rid of the gods (she’s a cleric so, not into that) and at first he was like “well I guess we’re done then” and I had to talk him back into continuing the relationship. For all I know, only clerics can have this exchange, I’m not sure 🤷🏻♀️
The exchange between my character and Gale on this boat ride is a little different, though - Gale says something akin to 'Let us stay here awhile longer; I want to drink you in'. (dude seriously has some of the most romantic lines out of all the companions).
Just when I thought Astarion was the end-all and be-all for romance in this game, I set eyes upon this cute, nerdy wizard. Don't get me wrong, I still love Astarion very dearly but Gale gives him a mighty competition in being the most tender for romance options. Both men unfold their truest and most vulnerable selves after much investment which is a treat to behold. I haven't played the game so have no clue about the stories that much but to me Astarion is like forbidden fruit, sordid dark romance and sex like in erotic novels. Gale is that nonchalant, vanilla, cheerful nerd husband who you come home to, have dinner with, talk about your day and sip wine with while relaxing in his cozy arms. It's so hard to pick a romantic partner in this game lol.
Part of the reason I posted this particular video was because I hadn't seen it anywhere else. I think telling him he should seek Mystra's forgiveness was important to which scene you get, but I'm not entirely sure.

After seeing this I loaded my game before picking up Karsus's book and tried a few different combinations, if I go to Mystra first I don't get the boat scene at all, even after forcing a few long sleeps. And if I do Mystra first and I pick seek forgiveness he's all no lets play it cool like dragon ante. In my game it's get book, speak to Elminster, have boat scene where I convince him he's enough and then see Mystra and seek forgiveness. Not that I needed an excuse already haven't been able to romance anyone else on my other plays lol :) he's just too sweet. But means I'll keep romancing him again on other plays and try different options in act 1 & 2 and see if I can get this option myself
The order for this one is you don't give Gale the book right away. He gets upset, then you give it to him. Talk to Elminster, but let Gale do the talking. Go immediately to Mystra afterwards and tell him to seek forgiveness. That should trigger the scene!
This scene is beautiful. How did you get this one? Usually gale always tries to convince Tav but here, he has already made up his decision. And especially the first line when you meet him, "you're still talking to me then", I assume Tav and Gale having a disagreement about the crown? Oh I love that line. One of things thats makes a "real" conversation
You get this version of the scene if you meet with Mystra before having the boat scene conversation, and encourage Gale to seek her forgiveness when he asks for your advice. It may also require a certain amount of having discouraged him from going after the crown before that though, in order for him to agree to seek Mystra's forgiveness rather than go with the "three-dragon ante" approach.
This scene cements that Gale never expects to fall in love, in my opinion if you do not play as Tav then he canonically doesnt romance anyone as he still has a focus on Mystra. Its scenes like this that really makes you feel for the characters, the writing for them makes them feel more real than you originally thought
This is the dialogue I'm trying to get in my current run! I wanted to do a vanilla run before modding the heck out of patch 7, and Gale fits my latest Tav so well. He's so sweet and supportive, just a little bit cheeky! I decided to go for his sweetest good ending, and this man is just sooooo wholesome! Still, can't wait for my modded run so I can have my Tav go all domestic with Gale while they try to deal with the whirlwind of chaos that's Astarion! (Will always be my fave poly relationship!)
I can’t help it. But the mild redemption scene i had, seems more caring from my characters side. This alternate boat scene is sweet but seems like a monologue. The version i had, gives the player a chance to choose and do more talking, expressing what the partner feels ❤

I never get tired of this scene... The way Gale's VA talks just makes my heart swell. Curious though, how did you get Gale to say this type of dialogue? When I got this scene, it lasted a lot longer and it gave me options to tell him that he's more than enough for me and I had to reject him from forging the crown and he looks very hurt/disappointed and says "there's not much more to say" and I get a choice to kiss him. I'm curious because his last line on your video struck me sweetly because he didn't say to my Tav.
The creator of this video answered on how to get this particular scene under a different comment, so you I suggest looking a bit in this comment section, but if I remember correctly you need to do a couple of things: SPOILER, I guess? 1. Don't give him the book of Karsus immediately - be hesitant about it 2. Be against using/reforging the crown 3. Let Gale do most of the talking with Eleminster 4. Go after the conversation directly to Mystras Temple 5. Urge him to seek forgiveness I hope you get your happy ending with Gale.

But I did the other steps and me/Astarion had to tell him, he is enough and he wasn't disappointed and didn't say the mentioned quote. It's fascinating, how the scenes can differ.

There are some interesting parallels between Gale and Astarion when romanced--both struggle to believe that Tav/Durge loves them as they are, that they're enough without the part of them that they're most associated with (being a wizard or vampire spawn, respectively.)
I put heavy focus on the whole "you are more than your magic" theme. Encouraged him to seek forgiveness from Mystra and told him I didn't want to give him the book.
Honestly, I thought this scene was blocked with an update. But today I finally succeeded in seeing it. (I used a translator.) 1. When you go to see Ketheric in Act 2, leave Gale at the camp. 2. Talk to Gale immediately after you enter Baldur's Gate. Tell Gale you're not going to Sorcerous Sundries to pick up the book. 3. Find the Book of Karthus on your own without Gale. 4. When you give books to Gail at camp, don't give them all at once. Give the book to Gale in the second dialogue option. In the next conversation, say that the crown is dangerous. 5. You must not engage in conversation between Gale and Elminster. 6. You go to see Mystra with Gale and click on the option to ask for forgiveness.
So, just to be clear, to get this I should leave Gale in camp so he does NOT see the big brain wearing the bling before the Kethric fight? I know you have had a million questions about this, but I am in act 2 pursuing the "you are more than just magic" path (no astral smooches) and I have the opportunity to try this. I still need to do last light fight and gauntlet. So maybe leaving him out of the colony and the Kethic fight so he doesn't see the crown is some weird trigger for later? He does get a slight power hungry look when he sees it, so I have always wondered if him not being there and not having to talk him down from blowing himself up helps? I have gotten the other dialogue with the forgiveness route in my other playthrough, but I want to see this one play out. Thank you :) . . . . . Side note and Astarion spoilers for his Act 2 confessions: Just got the alternate confession scene in Act 2 with Astarion and it is sooo much more sweet than what you get after Drow. I choose now to go Drow when I want to friend zone him (no jealousy bad vibes lines if you go for some other romance after), and Orthon when I want a more sweet and honest confession aka romance route. Go to LL and then have a drink (or not) with the druid, then take Harper convoy to ambush the drider, get buff from Dolly Dolly, and go to Moonrise. Avoid the Drow, which is easy, and do the Kethric scene (also, go save someone if you did not kill them in the Grove). Long rest to get an unavoidable Gith scene out of the way and next day, make your way up to the mausoleum for some questionable poetry. Then just go talk the Orthon to death (or kill it - whatevs). Make Astarion thank you right after, one of my fav sassy scenes with him when you can tease him. Then GTFO of the gauntlet after grabbing the way point. Go to camp and The Questionable Poet will visit and drop some lore on Astarion. Then you long rest and he confesses. It is more soft, genuine, and sweet. It does eventually loop back in to the same outcomes. I was just so surprised how differently he comes off and the tones of each confession, like "damn you really care about me and you are amazing" instead of "damn you stuck up for me when some bish was super rude to me so you must really care".
Omg, between him and Asterion. I love them both. But I love Anders from Dragon Age as a number 1. I just wish u had epic romance scenes in it. The romances are great, but feel so short lived. In BG3 it doesn’t feel that way.
Yeah, I'd seen the other version too on RUclips and I hadn't seen my version so I decided to post it. I was very insistent about him not taking the crown. I even told him I didn't want him to have the book before actually giving it to him, and encouraged him to seek Mystra's forgiveness.

I never liked gale but I made a save to romance him, just to give him a chance. He was winning me over, slowly, until he said all this shit and then suddenly abandoned my character at the end of the game to take the stupid crown. Not only that, but he blamed me for pushing him towards it when I consistently said I was never interested in that divine shit. Idk what I did wrong but I must have said something wrong somewhere, so I'm gonna erase that save and go back to Astarion lol.

I gave him the book because I thought I gave shadowheart and astarion the benefit of a doubt so it would be unfair to have higher moral standards for him just because he is hot xD he calmed down during the boatscene that I triggered before talking to elminster though. How do you get this version? I’ve tried dissuading him from the crown before and after he speaks to Mystra, and he gets a bit irritated, but I’ve never had this conversation.
i didn't get this scene on my first playthrough and it really ruined the end of the game for me because of the decision he makes. I have no idea how i didn't trigger it either, I was so disappointed.

When we got Karsus' book, had our conversation about it and asking for Mystra's forgiveness, I did the Mystra quest pretty much right away. First long rest after the conversation with her, I got his quest and this scene 🥹 But I think you can get it before talking to her? I think I read that somewhere. I'm not sure though

It's called Swarthy Wayfarer in Cream! There were other colors as well, like green and blue and red, but I loved the cream on him. Reminded me of Nathan Drake from Uncharted or Indiana Jones 😂 It doesn't have a satchel per se, but it has clips to hang a satchel from, I believe.

Well, i don’t rly understand Gale. He confesses but there is mystra all time. He says that tav will be enough but there r always some other shit like crown, becoming the god, forgiveness and etc. He always thought and keeps thinking about his ascension (even more than astarion), even when he’s already done so many mistakes and got the orb. Srsly? Doesn’t learn even from his own mistakes? I’ve tried to romanced him, but i do not believe in any his lovey-dovey words. Especially after he blamed and got mad at my tav who really tried her best in resisting to dark urge and cruel past when all others, even laezel, were kind and supportive. Well… i was really upset after his freaking out after my conversation with Gortash.
Ultimately, it is Tav's decision that drive the characters to these choices. In my playthrough, where I got this scene, Gale didn't want the power anymore. He wanted to get the crown to Mystra so the orb would be removed and he and Tav could finally be together without fear. But that was because my Tav nurtured the idea that he didn't need all that power, that he was more than his magic, that he made a mistake with the orb and he needed to make it right. It's Tav's guidance that drives all the characters in their decisions, not just the characters themselves.
@@Bi0tics ikr. But even after all of that in the end u still have choice to tell him that not getting the crown will be better for everyone. Thoughtful gale's tone and that dialoge option makes me think that his ambitions have not evaporated because of tav, love, mistra, forgiveness and anything else. Well, even the goddess and previous power was not enough to satisfy his hunger. I suppose it's just a kind of pretty delusion that tav will be enough. Maybe I'm overthinking)

I adore them both as well (I love all the characters, they are so amazing), but Gale was my early access romance and I knew then I wanted to do his romance first for full release. His was just so lovely and sweet.
I started my first playthrough fully intending to romance Gale but I admit I fell for Astarion's complexity. I'm starting a second playthrough now just to show Gale some love cause he deserves it
I am the opposite haha. Did the Gale romance for my first playthrough, doing Astarion for my second. Both are amazing, but for different reasons. The characters are just so unique and complex.

it's hard bc i feel like Larian REALLY focused on Astarion's story. I romanced him first and that's my one complaint about the Gale romance is that there isn't as much of not just the big scenes but the little moments.
i still adore Gale, but they definitely did him a little dirty with the lack of content for him IMO.
Everyone loves to poke fun at Gale because of him being thirsty.. but im so glad that I get to romance him on my first playthrough. Everyone has been raving about Astarion and good thing I didnt go with the hype (Astarion’s still awesome though dont get me wrong), but Gale.. he is just so loving, so sincere and if you reach the epilogue, he is just so DEVOTED to you that even though I am a married woman, he still makes me blush like a teenage girl. He is so SO SO well written and I thank the heavens for Larian especially Tim Downie for breathing life into him 💜
I really love Astarion's romance plot too, but I agree that Gale gets such an undeserved bad rep. A lot of people discount him because he eats their boots, but get past that, encourage him to see himself as more than his own magic, and he's such a love. I smile so hard during all the romance scenes.

I know! The entire last line is so beautiful, I melt. Not gonna lie, sometimes I just repeat it a few times because Tim Downie did such an incredible job on portraying the emotions. The cast are all so amazing, the hype is well deserved.
Fun fact, Tim did this scene 4 times. He felt so bad for the mocap capture guy in the booth.

I benched Gale for my first playthrough because I didn't know how to play a wizard.
For the second playthrough I brought him along everywhere and was surprised that unlike most other companions, he doesn't only provide one liner reactions to many plot points. He almost always have a verbal essay ready, with deep analysis and pros and cons of what we can do next. Very meticulously written by the whoever wrote him.
It's refreshing and it gives his character a different kind of depth compared to the others. And he won't have any chance to unleash these essays if he's benched at the camp. He's a damn wise advisor and listening to him makes you feel like you have something solid to hold on in the journey. Don't sleep on him people!
Astarion is still my favorite romance, but Gale's a great character too, regardless if you romance him or not.
You are so right. I used him throughout my entire first playthrough and really enjoyed his miscellaneous tidbits. My second playthrough, he's been on the bench and I really miss his quips.

His whole arc is very good, especially if you persuade him to give up his quest for power. As a romance option, it's very sweet and satisfying to hear him toss all that aside because he doesn't need it all as long as he has you. Made me melt.

It was a combo of dialogue choices where my Tav shot down the idea of getting rid of the gods (she’s a cleric so, not into that) and at first he was like “well I guess we’re done then” and I had to talk him back into continuing the relationship. For all I know, only clerics can have this exchange, I’m not sure 🤷🏻♀️

The exchange between my character and Gale on this boat ride is a little different, though - Gale says something akin to 'Let us stay here awhile longer; I want to drink you in'. (dude seriously has some of the most romantic lines out of all the companions).

Just when I thought Astarion was the end-all and be-all for romance in this game, I set eyes upon this cute, nerdy wizard. Don't get me wrong, I still love Astarion very dearly but Gale gives him a mighty competition in being the most tender for romance options. Both men unfold their truest and most vulnerable selves after much investment which is a treat to behold. I haven't played the game so have no clue about the stories that much but to me Astarion is like forbidden fruit, sordid dark romance and sex like in erotic novels. Gale is that nonchalant, vanilla, cheerful nerd husband who you come home to, have dinner with, talk about your day and sip wine with while relaxing in his cozy arms. It's so hard to pick a romantic partner in this game lol.

Part of the reason I posted this particular video was because I hadn't seen it anywhere else. I think telling him he should seek Mystra's forgiveness was important to which scene you get, but I'm not entirely sure.

After seeing this I loaded my game before picking up Karsus's book and tried a few different combinations, if I go to Mystra first I don't get the boat scene at all, even after forcing a few long sleeps. And if I do Mystra first and I pick seek forgiveness he's all no lets play it cool like dragon ante. In my game it's get book, speak to Elminster, have boat scene where I convince him he's enough and then see Mystra and seek forgiveness. Not that I needed an excuse already haven't been able to romance anyone else on my other plays lol :) he's just too sweet. But means I'll keep romancing him again on other plays and try different options in act 1 & 2 and see if I can get this option myself
The order for this one is you don't give Gale the book right away. He gets upset, then you give it to him. Talk to Elminster, but let Gale do the talking. Go immediately to Mystra afterwards and tell him to seek forgiveness. That should trigger the scene!

This scene is beautiful. How did you get this one? Usually gale always tries to convince Tav but here, he has already made up his decision. And especially the first line when you meet him, "you're still talking to me then", I assume Tav and Gale having a disagreement about the crown? Oh I love that line. One of things thats makes a "real" conversation
You get this version of the scene if you meet with Mystra before having the boat scene conversation, and encourage Gale to seek her forgiveness when he asks for your advice.
It may also require a certain amount of having discouraged him from going after the crown before that though, in order for him to agree to seek Mystra's forgiveness rather than go with the "three-dragon ante" approach.

This scene cements that Gale never expects to fall in love, in my opinion if you do not play as Tav then he canonically doesnt romance anyone as he still has a focus on Mystra. Its scenes like this that really makes you feel for the characters, the writing for them makes them feel more real than you originally thought

This is the dialogue I'm trying to get in my current run! I wanted to do a vanilla run before modding the heck out of patch 7, and Gale fits my latest Tav so well. He's so sweet and supportive, just a little bit cheeky! I decided to go for his sweetest good ending, and this man is just sooooo wholesome!
Still, can't wait for my modded run so I can have my Tav go all domestic with Gale while they try to deal with the whirlwind of chaos that's Astarion! (Will always be my fave poly relationship!)

I can’t help it. But the mild redemption scene i had, seems more caring from my characters side. This alternate boat scene is sweet but seems like a monologue. The version i had, gives the player a chance to choose and do more talking, expressing what the partner feels ❤

I never get tired of this scene... The way Gale's VA talks just makes my heart swell. Curious though, how did you get Gale to say this type of dialogue? When I got this scene, it lasted a lot longer and it gave me options to tell him that he's more than enough for me and I had to reject him from forging the crown and he looks very hurt/disappointed and says "there's not much more to say" and I get a choice to kiss him. I'm curious because his last line on your video struck me sweetly because he didn't say to my Tav.
The creator of this video answered on how to get this particular scene under a different comment, so you I suggest looking a bit in this comment section, but if I remember correctly you need to do a couple of things:
SPOILER, I guess?
1. Don't give him the book of Karsus immediately - be hesitant about it
2. Be against using/reforging the crown
3. Let Gale do most of the talking with Eleminster
4. Go after the conversation directly to Mystras Temple
5. Urge him to seek forgiveness

But I did the other steps and me/Astarion had to tell him, he is enough and he wasn't disappointed and didn't say the mentioned quote. It's fascinating, how the scenes can differ.

There are some interesting parallels between Gale and Astarion when romanced--both struggle to believe that Tav/Durge loves them as they are, that they're enough without the part of them that they're most associated with (being a wizard or vampire spawn, respectively.)

I put heavy focus on the whole "you are more than your magic" theme. Encouraged him to seek forgiveness from Mystra and told him I didn't want to give him the book.
Honestly, I thought this scene was blocked with an update. But today I finally succeeded in seeing it. (I used a translator.)
1. When you go to see Ketheric in Act 2, leave Gale at the camp.
2. Talk to Gale immediately after you enter Baldur's Gate. Tell Gale you're not going to Sorcerous Sundries to pick up the book.
3. Find the Book of Karthus on your own without Gale.
4. When you give books to Gail at camp, don't give them all at once. Give the book to Gale in the second dialogue option. In the next conversation, say that the crown is dangerous.
5. You must not engage in conversation between Gale and Elminster.
6. You go to see Mystra with Gale and click on the option to ask for forgiveness.
So, just to be clear, to get this I should leave Gale in camp so he does NOT see the big brain wearing the bling before the Kethric fight? I know you have had a million questions about this, but I am in act 2 pursuing the "you are more than just magic" path (no astral smooches) and I have the opportunity to try this. I still need to do last light fight and gauntlet. So maybe leaving him out of the colony and the Kethic fight so he doesn't see the crown is some weird trigger for later? He does get a slight power hungry look when he sees it, so I have always wondered if him not being there and not having to talk him down from blowing himself up helps?
I have gotten the other dialogue with the forgiveness route in my other playthrough, but I want to see this one play out. Thank you :)

Side note and Astarion spoilers for his Act 2 confessions:
Just got the alternate confession scene in Act 2 with Astarion and it is sooo much more sweet than what you get after Drow. I choose now to go Drow when I want to friend zone him (no jealousy bad vibes lines if you go for some other romance after), and Orthon when I want a more sweet and honest confession aka romance route. Go to LL and then have a drink (or not) with the druid, then take Harper convoy to ambush the drider, get buff from Dolly Dolly, and go to Moonrise. Avoid the Drow, which is easy, and do the Kethric scene (also, go save someone if you did not kill them in the Grove). Long rest to get an unavoidable Gith scene out of the way and next day, make your way up to the mausoleum for some questionable poetry. Then just go talk the Orthon to death (or kill it - whatevs). Make Astarion thank you right after, one of my fav sassy scenes with him when you can tease him. Then GTFO of the gauntlet after grabbing the way point. Go to camp and The Questionable Poet will visit and drop some lore on Astarion. Then you long rest and he confesses. It is more soft, genuine, and sweet. It does eventually loop back in to the same outcomes. I was just so surprised how differently he comes off and the tones of each confession, like "damn you really care about me and you are amazing" instead of "damn you stuck up for me when some bish was super rude to me so you must really care".
Now I see there is no point in preventing Gale from seeing Ketheric in Act 2. Just follow the instructions after that.@@DarkSideBecky

Yeah, I'd seen the other version too on RUclips and I hadn't seen my version so I decided to post it. I was very insistent about him not taking the crown. I even told him I didn't want him to have the book before actually giving it to him, and encouraged him to seek Mystra's forgiveness.

I never liked gale but I made a save to romance him, just to give him a chance. He was winning me over, slowly, until he said all this shit and then suddenly abandoned my character at the end of the game to take the stupid crown. Not only that, but he blamed me for pushing him towards it when I consistently said I was never interested in that divine shit. Idk what I did wrong but I must have said something wrong somewhere, so I'm gonna erase that save and go back to Astarion lol.

I actually don't know what would happen if you withhold the book. I didn't want to upset him too much because I was worried he would end the romance lol
I gave him the book because I thought I gave shadowheart and astarion the benefit of a doubt so it would be unfair to have higher moral standards for him just because he is hot xD he calmed down during the boatscene that I triggered before talking to elminster though. When we got Karsus' book, had our conversation about it and asking for Mystra's forgiveness, I did the Mystra quest pretty much right away. First long rest after the conversation with her, I got his quest and this scene 🥹

It's called Swarthy Wayfarer in Cream! There were other colors as well, like green and blue and red, but I loved the cream on him. Reminded me of Nathan Drake from Uncharted or Indiana Jones 😂
It doesn't have a satchel per se, but it has clips to hang a satchel from, I believe.

Well, i don’t rly understand Gale. He confesses but there is mystra all time. He says that tav will be enough but there r always some other shit like crown, becoming the god, forgiveness and etc. He always thought and keeps thinking about his ascension (even more than astarion), even when he’s already done so many mistakes and got the orb. Srsly? Doesn’t learn even from his own mistakes?
I’ve tried to romanced him, but i do not believe in any his lovey-dovey words. Especially after he blamed and got mad at my tav who really tried her best in resisting to dark urge and cruel past when all others, even laezel, were kind and supportive. Well… i was really upset after his freaking out after my conversation with Gortash.
Ultimately, it is Tav's decision that drive the characters to these choices. In my playthrough, where I got this scene, Gale didn't want the power anymore. He wanted to get the crown to Mystra so the orb would be removed and he and Tav could finally be together without fear. But that was because my Tav nurtured the idea that he didn't need all that power, that he was more than his magic, that he made a mistake with the orb and he needed to make it right.
It's Tav's guidance that drives all the characters in their decisions, not just the characters themselves.
@@Bi0tics ikr. But even after all of that in the end u still have choice to tell him that not getting the crown will be better for everyone. Thoughtful gale's tone and that dialoge option makes me think that his ambitions have not evaporated because of tav, love, mistra, forgiveness and anything else. Well, even the goddess and previous power was not enough to satisfy his hunger. I suppose it's just a kind of pretty delusion that tav will be enough.

@@MaLeFeu Oh, my dialogue was different. I didn't have to tell him he didn't need it, he went straight to saying he'd find the crown, deliver it to Mystra, and finally be free of the orb.
Gale is literally so pure, so loving its crazy i wish more people like him would exist our there its weird to feel so comforted by pixels but damn
