Lithium has always been my personal favorite Nirvana song, and one of my all time favorites. The theme of using religion and the idea of an afterlife to cope with grief has always resonated with me, because when I first heard the song, I was doing exactly that. The “I’m not gonna crack” chorus just hit so close to home at the time. Not only is it a banger from start to finish, but it’s really powerful and moving, it really makes you feel what the character in the song is feeling. It perfectly describes the feeling of grief; grasping onto someone, refusing to let go, just so you can survive another day. The feeling that you need them to continue living, but they’re not there. Great idea of this video, really enjoyed this Ranked. Have you heard about RHCP going on a tour in 2022 with John? Do you think that this means a new album soon? I would love that!
I know how you feel about being old! This album came out when I was 9, and literally changed what music I listened to. I grew up in a family with very little rock and roll, lots of R&B and rap, but not rock. “Smells Like Teen Spirit” was the first song that struck me directly in the gut, my mom hated it, and it was different from the sexist hair metal that had dominated the radio waves since the 1980s. Since I lived in Virginia (which has a tendency to promote music artist from Virginia), I got to hear “Smells Like Teen Spirit” in August, due to the fact that “the drunmer’s from NOVA!”. Nirvana then became the first band I followed and listened to, although it took over a month to get the album of tape because it was consistently sold out. One of the things I appreciated is Nirvana was a rock band that didn’t treat women like garbage and supported reproductive rights and anti-rape advocacy. They were different from having a woman hump a Rolls Royce in a music video. I will always remember how Nirvana and hearing “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and I love how such a great album is immortal. Great music never dies.

Lounge Act will probably forever be in my Top 3 Nirvana songs. I remember I bought this album in 2005 when I was in 6th grade trying to figure out what kind of “rock” music I liked. It took me maybe like 2 years to finally enjoy the album fully, but from the first listen the bass intro on Lounge Act had me hooked.

I know people hate Smells LIke Teen Spirit because you couldn't go a day without hearing it on the radio in the 90s but that song was the Anthem for entire Generation X. Brought a lot of people who were not familiar with Grunge music into that world. I loved that song as a child and as an adult still love it now probably top 5 greatest songs ever across any genre.

It's really funny how everytime people rank Nirvana songs, people purposely act like Teen Spirit is far from one of Nirvana's best songs just because Kurt refused to play Teen Spirit live a bunch of times. You guys do realize if Kurt were alive, he wouldn't give a fuck about any of your opinions but you all still worship him and agree with all of Kurt's opinions as if Kurt were a messiah. Sad af 😂

All songs great..Breed my favorite..B Side is great and I won't be a hipster..A Side is fucking awesome legendary..btw happy birthday Badmotorfinger and Blood Sugar Sex Magic
Your two favorites are my two least favorites. Ah, well!... lol. Agreed on its classic status, though. Who wouldn't? Great content lately, Jon. Fantastic Album!! I love every song on this album so much! I love their other albums too, of course. My ranking: 13. Stay Away- I think it is a pretty good and catchy song but seems similar to Territorial Pissings which I love more. 12. Endless Nameless- usually people’s least favorite but I still like it. It honestly sounds like a meme song. Definitely a hidden track. 11. Breed- very popular and catchy. I would give it a 9/10, and this isn’t even the top ten. 10. Lounge Act- fantastic lyrics and it used to be my least favorite but I’m warming up to it. 9. Come As You Are- I feel like this song is just the tiniest bit overrated because I think the riff is killer, but the rest of the song is average for Nirvana. First 10/10 though, and I’ll listen to it any time. 8. Smells Like Teen Spirit- nothing wrong with the song and if I ignore the fact that its overplayed I can really appreciate the music. 7. Polly- I love the message and the quiet instrument and the feeling of isolation. Very dark but they killed this song. 6. Something in the Way- love the darkness of this song as well. I leaped out of my chair when I heard it on the new Batman movie trailer. 5. Drain You- classic song that I didn’t really realize how good it was until I heard it on the radio by itself. Very catchy. 4. Territorial Pissings- DAVE GROHL 3. On a Plain- I was so surprised that this album closer was as good as it was. I didn’t really like the back half of the album so much until this year, but now I might even like it more than the first half. 2. In Bloom- this song makes me bang my head more than any other Nirvana song. My favorite of the big four is Pearl Jam but I don’t think they ever achieved such a great hard rock song, even on Vs. So damn good, 11/10. 1. Lithium- the perfect Nirvana sound. It’s ridiculous that the lyric “YEAH” can be sung so artistically. Drums are perfect, voice is perfect, use of dynamic range and changing tone is perfect. My favorite original song by Nirvana. Only song by them I like more was their cover of Man Who Sold the World on MTV, but Lithium is sooooo close. After this whole album tho, I still really gotta give thanks to SLTS because it introduced me to the band
Yeah man I think lithium and in bloom will stay at 1 and 2 for me but I feel like lounge act, Polly, and come as you are could shoot up at any time for me
Thanks mate, from watching this list yesterday I had to go spin the album again today, ha. Either Polly or Lithium would have to be my favorite on this album, hard to even be objective when you're heard some of these songs for about 30 years straight.

At some point each song on this album spent a fair ammount of time as my favorite. I couldn't pick any one that I like more than any other. Sign of a GREAT album.
Lounge act is so underrated. Fun to play on guitar and bass too. Teen spirit and come as you are as soo overrated. Always turn those off when they come on. In bloom is about Dylan Carlson his best friend. Saw him 2 years ago in Houston with his band Earth, wanted to approach him as he was walking around the crowd and didn’t have the guts to. I would’ve said “so you’re the He In, In bloom ?!”
I don’t know how I would rank the songs on this album but I would include the B side tracks on my list even in his youth Endless nameless Aneurysm Curmudgeon
This year, we got sometimes i might be introvert, by the time I get to phoenix, Cavalcade, the turning wheel, daddy’s home, donda, montero, inside, new Radiohead single, sill sonic, CMIYGL, Nurture, FTFT, etc, so idk why you’re complaining, music is still amazing

Great idea of this video, really enjoyed this Ranked. Have you heard about RHCP going on a tour in 2022 with John? Do you think that this means a new album soon? I would love that!
Yeah, Rick Rubin, the producer, has already announced it!
John frusciante confirmed there’s a new album. It might already be done
@@cbrooks_07 I've just read it! Some Stadium Arcadium vibes coming, my hype is now unbelivably high!
Great video! Always nice to see a new ranking video

Defs don't agree with your top 3 personally but respect it. I first discovered Nirvana 10 years ago and it still feels like yesterday.
Such a cultural album that will stay amazing forever
I know people hate Smells LIke Teen Spirit because you couldn't go a day without hearing it on the radio in the 90s but that song was the Anthem for entire Generation X. Brought a lot of people who were not familiar with Grunge music into that world. I loved that song as a child and as an adult still love it now probably top 5 greatest songs ever across any genre.
My favorite Nirvana album, one of my favorite albums of all time. So happy to see Breed at number 2, that's my favorite Nirvana song. Territorial Pissings is also great. And Drain You, of course. I first heard Drain You from Rock Band. Never get tired of this album.

Breed has been my favourite Nirvana song, and honestly one of my favourite songs in general, since I first heard it. Something about it has always stuck with me more than any other, even All Apologies, my 2nd favourite. Cool to see it so high on your list!
can´t wait for Badflower review
Prob won’t be one, I don’t do that many dedicated reviews anymore I’m tired of it
Lithuim is one of my favourites its a mix of everything and it gets emotional for me same as Polly 🎸🎸🎸 happy birthday #Nevermind
In Bloom and Something In The Way are my two favourites on this album. I think every song on this album is great though and don't skip any of them.

Lithium
Drain You

Thanks for the flashback to my freshman year in high school
On a plain was way way too low
Stay away..I felt the same until I got much older, top 5 on this album now
SLTP was overplayed, but after 30 years, it deserved it #1
Polly I got next to last but I understand what you are saying.
What a fn album!!
never mind has to be one of the hardest albums to rank ever made
Mine would be:
12. On a plain
11. Stay away
10. Polly
9. Breed
8. Come as you are
7. Something in the way
6. Smell like teen spirit
5. Drain you
4. Territorial pissing

I think lithium is the best song of nevermind, and my favorite to. Well that's it. NIRVANA for ever😜🤙
This would be my ranking:
12. Polly (I'm sorry, I just cannot get into this)
11. Drain You (hate the chorus lyrics)
10. Stay Away
9. Come As You Are
8. Smells Like Teen Spirit
7. Lithium
6. On A Plain
5. Something In The Way
4. In Bloom
3. Breed
2. Territorial Pissings
1. Lounge Act!
Sad af 😂
Here's my ranking, though keep in mind i think these are all at least 8/10 songs
12. Come as you are: 8.3
11. Stay away: 8.5
10. Polly: 8.6
9. Breed: 9.2
8. Lounge act: 9.5
7. Drain you: 10
6. Smells like teen spirit: 10
5. On a plain: 10
4. Something in the way: 10
3. In bloom: 10
2. Territorial pissings: 10
1. Lithium: 10
Don't have much to say that I'd probably put Breed at #1 because it was the song that got me into Nirvana. I knew of Smells Like Teen Spirit before, but Breed is what made me curious to listen to their music and now here I am, a massive Nirvana fan.
Totally agree with Stay Away being last pick. It has to go somewhere on this brilliant album. For me, my favorite has and always will be Lithium.
Obviously I've listened to the album & I do have it on vinyl but I'm not someone who knows every word & have only listened to it a hand full of times so I'll just put my top 6:
1. Come As You Are
2. On A Plain
3. In Bloom
4. Greed
5. Polly
6. Lithium
1. Lithium
2. Drain You
3. In Bloom
4. Breed
5. Territorial Pissings
6. Polly
7. Something In The Way
8. Lounge Act
9. Teen Spirit
10. Come As You Are
11. On A Plain
12. Stay Away
13. Endless Nameless
Endless Nameless and Breed will always be two of my favourites of this album
Something in the way will be in the Batman movie in march
Nice ranking. Polly is a super dark track, but it might be my favorite as well. I probably couldn’t rank them all. Do you think you could do album rankings for the other popular grunge albums like Ten, Dirt, Superunknown, In Utero, Core, etc.
All songs great..Breed my favorite..B Side is great and I won't be a hipster..A Side is fucking awesome legendary..btw happy birthday Badmotorfinger and Blood Sugar Sex Magic
Badmotorfinger didn’t technically come out till October. It’s original release date got pushed back
Your two favorites are my two least favorites. Ah, well!... lol. Agreed on its classic status, though. Who wouldn't?
Great content lately, Jon. Here's my ranking, fav to least fav: Lithium
, Drain You, Come As You Are, Something In The Way, Lounge Act, In Bloom, Smells Like Teen Spirit, On A Plain, Territorial Pissings, Stay Away, Breed, Polly
Drain you at 9????? BLASPHEMY!!!!!!!
Fantastic Album!! I love every song on this album so much! I love their other albums too, of course.
My ranking:
4. Territorial Pissings- DAVE GROHL
After this whole album tho, I still really gotta give thanks to SLTS because it introduced me to the band
agree with this way more then the artv stay away is definitely the weak link but the rest could go anywhere
Yeah man I think lithium and in bloom will stay at 1 and 2 for me but I feel like lounge act, Polly, and come as you are could shoot up at any time for me
Agree with Pearl Jam being the best out of the big four. For me it goes Pearl Jam > Soundgarden > Nirvana > Alice
@ArtistRankings They’re all good tho. What’s ur favorite Pearl Jam song
endless, nameless sounds like a meme ?
Thanks mate, from watching this list yesterday I had to go spin the album again today, ha.
Either Polly or Lithium would have to be my favorite on this album, hard to even be objective when you're heard some of these songs for about 30 years straight.
Tracks ranked best to worst
Territorial pissings
Lithium
Smells like teen spirit
Polly
In bloom
Breed
Stay away
Lounge act
Come as you are
Drain you
Something in the way
On a plain
At some point each song on this album spent a fair ammount of time as my favorite. I couldn't pick any one that I like more than any other. Sign of a GREAT album.
Lounge act is so underrated. Fun to play on guitar and bass too. Teen spirit and come as you are as soo overrated. Always turn those off when they come on. In bloom is about Dylan Carlson his best friend. Saw him 2 years ago in Houston with his band Earth, wanted to approach him as he was walking around the crowd and didn’t have the guts to. I would’ve said “so you’re the He In, In bloom ?!”
Endless, Nameless was supposed to be part of the original release but the first press of the cd was a mispress and didn't include it.
I don’t know how I would rank the songs on this album but I would include the B side tracks on my list
even in his youth
Endless nameless
Aneurysm
Curmudgeon
Breed is my favorite song in the album!
Kurt acutally wrote the drum fills on "In Bloom" you can hear it on the Sub Pop version with Chad playing them.
Love seeing Lounge Act so high!
Lithium,Come as you are and In bloom are my top 3 easily
Nice ranking man. Especially seeing SLTS so high.
Brilliant Analysis
I was not expecting to see polly at 1. By far .y favourite NIRVANA SONG
Come As You Are number #10 is absolutely criminal imo.
30 years ago today, we got this masterpiece Nevermind. Today, in 2021, we got My Universe by Coldplay and BTS. What has music become
What a shit day now
so true.. it’s better than i expected but that’s not really saying much considering modern radio Pop lol
@@lucasrienstra4163 yeah, I know, it was a joke, there has been a lot of great music so far this year

Hey man, I’m turning 30 near the end of October. I feel your pain.
Cool idea
Polly is the best because it’s so weird.
10. Is a highly controversial pick at that ranking.
Oh God, you picked Polly after picking Your Love’s Whore. Wish you lived in Australia. We could be friends.
Hahahaha.
Is that Green Day and Paramore in the backround? Omg my favourite bands
