he could make all kinds of music. very few, if any artist has had hits acapella style like the longest time. with a paino like paino man or synthpop style like we didn't start the fire. the man has had #1 hits in the 1970s, 80s and 90s. billy joel was the complete package.
Sheer pop genius. He went from singer/songwriter music to Tin Pan Alley/Broadway, classical, jazz, new wave rock to 50s doo wop. I don't care what the stinky critics say, Billy Joel is one of the masters of modern music.
Frank Zappa said that other than conducting an orchestra, singing barbershop was the most gratifying thing he had ever done. I can see the immediate pride four or five guys get from being so in sync. Just a btw, me reenacting the Uptown Girl video for my gramma is one of my most prized moments with her.
That wonderful song is one of the most cheerful I've ever heard, that performance was incredible, and Billy Joel was just pure awesomeness at that time.
I was first introduced to Billy Joel when I picked up a vinyl recording entitled Glass Houses at the age of 10. It was my father's album at the time. I fell in love with his style and just now discovered his '84 concert tour on youtube. Billy Joel's work continues to amaze me 20 years after I first discovered his songs.
This song must be famous...... Agree with it. I heard the Glee version and HIMYM and Family Guy. But Billy Joel as the original songmaker of this song, I praise him now.
Oh wow! Their really really good!!!! And it's fantastic that they sang it A Capella. It sounds sooooo neat! Thanks so much for posting this and sharing this with us. And I really LOVE his Bronx accent :D
No, I do understand. I wasn't saying it was you that disliked it. I was just saying whoever disliked it probably disliked it because the song "For the Longest Time" didn't start until 2:53. They probably didn't take the time to listen that far into it, therefore never hearing the song and thinking the video was just a phony. When really, them themselves were just impatient. Wasn't trying to say it was you at all.
Real music. Music no longer played on the radio or MTV. Instead it's been replaced by stupid people that get famous for being stupid. No editing software here. Much respect to those who sing a cappella
These days if a singer went out and tried something like this, it would be all over the place. It would be sharp or flat, but before auto tune, singers were actually talented
And the drummer's baby is now 33 years old. God I miss the 80s!
It shows the versatility of Billy Joel. Known forever as the Piano Man yet will blow you away going acapella.

No autotune needed
4:00 Drummer singing along and he isn't even mic'd up. Gotta love it. Music like this is just so much fun to sing. The harmonies here are so amazing:)
That accent is awesome
....thirty years hasn't taken a THING from this.....
Here's a piece of trivia for you. The drummer's baby they refer to is actress Torrey DeVitto.
is it tori or toray?
He does it all. Great entertainer, vocalist, writer, and Piano Man all in one.
Sheer pop genius. He went from singer/songwriter music to Tin Pan Alley/Broadway, classical, jazz, new wave rock to 50s doo wop. I don't care what the stinky critics say, Billy Joel is one of the masters of modern music.
Pure talent. The harmonizing is beautiful. Billy is so cute here!
yes
The little rif he sings at 2:44 sounds like the intro to River of Dreams. Must have had that kicking in his head for a decade.
The awesomeness meter is off the charts on this one..
He has the best interaction with the audience out of any other group or artists and that speaks volume about his character.
the part where he acknowledged the birth of his drummer's child Amazing and sweet
Creative
Lovely
Talented
I'm sixteen months old and I love this!
Im 18 but i love this song

still remember the first time i heard it on the radio, inmedietly I went for AN INNOCENT MAN ALBUM 1982.
Billy shows his roots
This is what you call real music and singing. They don't use autotune it is just his natural singing voice
Longest tradition that of a cappella masculine voices around the world!

8 people will wait the longest time to understand good music.
This song must be famous...... Agree with it. I heard the Glee version and HIMYM and Family Guy. But Billy Joel as the original songmaker of this song, I praise him now.

He is pure talent. What is music nowadays? Terrible
same
I hate music from 2016. I'm 16 and when I grow up, I want to be a real musician.
Not all of it is terrible. Some of it is actually pretty damn good, you just have to look further than whatever they play on the radio.
Billy so cute here
AWESOME!!!!
Beautiful song
What a performer!
