I am impressed you guys love seafood and cockles. Not many westerners like cockles. So good on you!
We both never had them before coming to Malaysia but are hooked now!
@@FoodandFootprints must add it in char kuey teow😋
@@klk101 Most definitely! And in curry mee 😋
The edits and the professional commentary is underappriciate , you both are underrated. U put effort in your videos and It make the video really enjoyable. The least I can do to support u is just by not skipping the ads. Love the effort!
That means a lot to hear - thank you very much for your support! So glad you appreciate the effort and enjoy the videos. 🙏
True. I watch Greg and Jumi, Steve and Ivana, and Ken twice for each of their videos. The first time skipping ads as I am impatient. Hehe. The second time just letting the ads run full without skipping
Wow. U really went to those locals and not touristic restaurants 👍. "Beh leh" in hainanese means Uncle
We try to dig deep and take tips from locals to find these kinds of spots - so glad we did! Ahh good to know - thank you
😍 ahhhhh melaka wan tan mee, been dreaming of that. It is the king of noodles 🍜 to us 😂👌 Glad you both enjoyed it and thanks for the shout out hahaha 🤙 great episode guys y'all are hitting all the classic spots ❤
Now we see why you guys said Melaka wantan mee is so good! It makes total sense now. Thank you again for recommending this gem - we went 3 times including our last night!
Thanks a lot! We loved these classic spots in Melaka
@@FoodandFootprints so good right! We usually have the "white sauce" as in the not spicy version. You get the noodley flavour even more. Sooo wish we could eat these delicious dishes now too hahah
@@PeterandYen That just means we need to go back again haha. Very good chance we take a short trip back to Melaka again in the coming months
All the food here is really yummy . You both sure knows where to eat here in Malacca. Enjoy!😋😋
All of them featured here are my favourites.👍👍👍😋😋😋
We loved all 4 places! Such gems in Melaka that we could go to over and over again. And most of them we did more than once!
@@FoodandFootprints plenty more to try out too. Looking forward to meet up again for a Chinese dinner, restaurant dishes style that you have yet to cover in Melaka 😉
@@kcliew2493 Would love to! We plan to come back to Melaka again for a few days sometime in the coming weeks/months
The hole for the trash is genius!
Love street food like that 😍😍😍
Eating on an alley and on a low stool, we need to see Lieles there!!
Right? Really cool idea.
Haha I actually spilled my drink while filming since it was so tight. Can only imagine Lieles struggling with it 😂😂
Please introduce some variety of food to your friends Steve, Ivanna and Ken. They've been eating the same (Malay) food literally in the last 9 months 😂
😂😂😂
All those satays look amazing.
Wow look at those photos from the previous generations. Love business with history and a story, and even better when they stay within the family generation after generation.
They are! We liked how they brought them to our table as soon as they came off the grill still sizzling. The family business is a beautiful thing - they were so friendly and proud to talk about the history
D seafood looked good especially d rojak sotong kangkung.
Definitely was
Greg loves the food so much can't even talk :) Your facial expressions are everything!
Haha thanks, guys!
I see cockles 😋😋😋
The cuttlefish dish looks so yummy and juicy.
Yes, I remember that Rojak from the Penang video, you were loving that...I mean who wouldn't?
Sweet and savory deliciousness
Yesss the cockles are a must here! They are even in the logo of this place 😂
Sweet and savory but you guys wouldn’t be able to handle the chili sauce, we are quite sure of that 😂
@@FoodandFootprints 😂😂😂
The kangkung sotong has so much stuff in there! Looks like a great mix of textures and flavors, was surprised at the pineapple!
It is such a good dish! And actually pretty healthy too
U are the food expert
Thank you! Wouldn’t call ourselves experts, but we love food
All of those Chinese Malay dishes looks so good and fresh, just like Greg I also like the alleys with the street food. Its like a unique Asian experience.
Definitely a unique experience. Food there is great, but the vibe makes it even better
Never fail to put a smile on my face watching your videos. Thanks for sharing guys.
So happy to hear that! Thank you very much 😁
Roast duck looks so good in Malaysia! The green chili sauce paired with it. Perfect!
It is! This is some of the best duck we’ve eaten anywhere
Love the Patreon photo guys 😍😍
Thanks, guys! 😁
The food there in Malaysia looks fantastic 😍 I would love to go there one day
It is! There is so much diversity in Melaka and it shows in the food. Highly recommend visiting!
9:08 There's a drama behind Jumi 😅
😂😂😂
The wanton mee looks yums! noodle texture and ingredient looks similar to Sarawak style Kolo Mee. We have it in normal sauce or with the red sauce..yums! There are hawkers and Sarawak restaurant here in KL/ PJ serving Kolo Mee and Sarawak Laksa.. its still good not bad. Hoping guys can make it down to East Malaysia - Sarawak & Sabah.. Maybe do a Sarawak Laksa comparison vlog from the different popular hawkers here in Kuching..(Sarawak Laksa.. Breakfast of the Gods as late Anthony Bourdain said..) stay safe be well guys cheers..
Can’t wait to visit Sarawak and Sabah sometime!
Will have to try Kolo Mee sometime too. Curious how it compares to wantan mee
We tried Sarawak Laksa in PJ and a few times for delivery during MCO and enjoyed it. Can only imagine how good it is in Kuching.
Thank you! Wishing you the same
Yeahhh..new video 😍
Yesss sorry for the delay!
Wow the red sauce on wantan mee, that looks amazing and different than the one we tried in Penang.
No wonder you got the recommendation from Peter and Yen, they know their food 😁
Yes! They nailed this recommendation - such a good wantan mee!
Hey guys your Malaysian food tour has me salivating! Everything looks so incredible. That noodle dish with the pickled chilis. The snails and the cockles...that cuttlefish with pineapple. Wow. So interesting . Char Grilled squid? I would really like to try that . And yeah cockles are amazing , one of my favorite foods as well! The Satay looks delicious. Excellent content as always. 🧡
Thank you so much! Loved the variety of food here in Melaka
That is undeniably the best white wantan mee in Malacca! You hit the right spot.
So happy our friends recommended it! Ate there 3 times during our stay in Melaka
Great intro guys! Gets us ready for what to look forward too.. looks like some good Chinese Malaysian food!! Yum!
Thanks a lot, guys!
You can't go wrong w wonton mee!! I love try noodles!! Thats a must eat!! I like this episode ! Canton malaysian cuisine for the win!! That slice char siu pork! Goes very well!! Nice egg noodles too!
This wantan mee was the best we’ve eaten in Malaysia so far! Perfectly cooked with great flavor. You’d love it!
Capital Seafood seems like an amazing spot! Agh we already miss dining in sooo much 😢
It is an amazing spot! Glad we went twice during our stay in Melaka. Aww man we can’t blame you guys. Hopefully they allow it again soon
Enjoy the delicious foods in malaysia..
Thank you so much! We definitely are
Oh yes to Oyster Omelette 😍🤤
They even put some greens on that, makes is a little more healthier haha
Haha true! Every bit counts
🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 already 10 months can not go back Malaysia i missed the food
Ahhh can imagine! We will miss it too whenever we leave
That's cool! Trash bin right in the middle.. stools are so small though lol.. definitely street vibes! Snails, kangkung, cockles, and squid.. definitely a seafood meal! 😋
Haha it is a great way to maximize space. It was tricky to film but so worth it!
Oooo starting off strong with roast duck!! That's one of my mom's favorites! That one looks sooo good, great that it comes with soup too!
Oh man this roast duck was on another level! Some of the best we’ve ever had. Bet Mama Meimei would love it!
The longkang siham place has definitely cleaned up a lot!! I like your obsession with cockles! That sotong kangkung looks better than the ones in Penang, a lot of sides too! Ahhhh those snails, really miss them! Cockles look pretty huge too! Greg has the biggest smile on his face when he ate the cockles! So nice to see you guys enjoying all the food, especially that bloody cockles!
Haha would like to see how it was back in the day. Soo happy we’ve gotten to eat lots of cockles during our stay here. They’re great in all forms. Loved this sotong kangkung - think you guys would enjoy it. It’s funny that their logo has an animated blood cockle in it 😂
All delicious food I enjoyed watching ur videos 👍⭐
Happy to see you and stay safe
Thank you very much! Hope you stay safe too
Hey Greg and Jumi!! It's always awesome to see what you guys are eating!! That's cool you're doing Chinese Malaysian food today. The roast duck looks so delicious and we know that 5 Spice had to add so much beautiful flavor!! Love hey have self serve soup too!!
That roast duck was incredible!
Look's so yummy and delicious recipe Friend
Thank you!
Wow pineapple in the satay sauce too?? LOL this episode is filled with surprise pineapples 😂
Haha you’re so right! Surprise pineapples everywhere 😂😂
Love that Peter and Yen suggested this 2nd place to you. The noodles look bomb! The red sauce looks really rich. Spicy and Sweet is the perfect combo!! Capitol Seafood was nice. Love all the shellfish, and the beautiful main course!! Such unique sauces!!
So happy they suggested this wantan mee place - we loved it!
thanks for sharing all these outlets and varieties to go for in Melaka..food from the heart..even ketupat was not those commercialised plastic wraps ones ... especially innards if well cleaned and from reliable source will not have bad taste ..not many hawkers and food outlets able to serve quality innards..I noticed Food Ranger did not like most of innards he tried in China ..likely because it was not well prepared before cooking
It is our pleasure! Thank you for watching and leaving nice comments 😁
We really appreciated how they served ketupat with the sate and how it was wrapped in the leaves. Really nice touch. Beh Leh is excellent with their attention to detail and the satay were cooked perfectly and fresh off the grill.
I just follow your video and found delicious food. thanks. all of them are really delicious and cheap.
Our pleasure! Glad you like what we highlighted in the video - we could eat at all 4 spots all the time
First!!!
Sooo close, but 🥈
So amazing they have different parts of satay! Ooooo love the ketupats! Very nice environment of the place too. Those intestines look perfect! You guys have such a great food adventure there in Melaka!!
Yes! The intestines are great and those chicken gizzards kind of stole the show for us. The ketupat is such a nice touch instead of the usual rice cubes. Love the vibe here too! It is new but has a great retro old school feel to it. They did a wonderful job designing it.
Now you see why we stayed for so long!
That duck is shinning there... who can resist that deliciousness? and with rice, everything is just perfect 🤤
Seriously some of the best duck we’ve ever eaten. And they sell out fast here so we made sure to order 3 plates to not miss out
Great recommendation from Peter and Yen! Putting that on our list to try!
It was a great recommendation! Made us lovers of Melaka wantan mee right away. You guys definitely should go and try all 3 stalls. The BBQ chicken wings are quite good too 👍
3 generations wow!
OMG that Chinese building is soooooo beautiful, ohhh it is going to be a great episode!!
Some great multigenerational spots in Melaka - loved meeting the families. Such a beautiful temple!
Omg.. Look really delicious. Love ur videos always play around with my tummy make me wanna grab the food faster.. Hehe
Haha thank you so much!
Wantan soup is my favorite, that seems like a great location, glad you listened to the recommendation!
Oh yes! Knew Peter and Yen wouldn’t steer us wrong
I Love Jumi's shirt in the beginning! So cute :)
Thank you, guys! 😁
Great video! After watching, we now want to try wantan mee. And wow, that satay looks delicious. I can't wait to see what you eat next!
Thanks, guys! The wantan mee is a must try in Melaka. For Penang, there are a few good ones you can try. At night on Chulia Street there’s the mother and son wantan mee stall and Hong Kee a few blocks south of there on Campbell where they make the noodles using the bamboo method.
This satay was wonderful! Some of the best we’ve eaten in Malaysia. We’ll have one more Melaka video next week 😁
@@FoodandFootprints Thanks!
Niceeeeee. dried squid!! perfect snack with beer! ;) Yeah the Kangkung reminds us of Rojak, too! look how many different sauces and textures were put in one plate. Yum!
It would’ve been SO good with beer, especially with the vibe of this place.
Hainam Satay... They do look really good. What fabulous looking food stops today, and always unique and delicious looking food!! Thank you guys for taking us with you and love you both to the mother effin' moon!! Happy Holidays and safe travels!! :) ❄🦌🎅🏻🎄🤗
Thank you so much for watching and happy holidays!
There’s the “duck in the window”, lmao!!!👍🏻 on the ultimate bite!! Those noodles looked soooo good right now...I am ready to place an order...
Love the vibe with Capital Seafood! Grilled dried squid!!!! Can I order that too? That might be great with beer? Cockles, never tried them. I am not one to say; “tastes like” because, I respect each flavor as it’s own. Steamed clams are a favorite so, I might like cockles?
There it is! And what an incredible duck it was. Could totally picture ordering a whole one some time if we had a group with us.
The wantan mee was wonderful! So much so that we went again on our last night in Melaka.
Beer would be perfect to sip sitting on those low wooden stools munching on grilled dried squid. For the cockles, we would say they have more of an oyster flavor but still it’s own unique taste.
Jesus, the chicken satay looks yuuuum! we love the store interior of the satay place, too.
That chicken gizzard was the shocker of the bunch. They did a great job designing the shop - retro feel to it
If I ever come back to Melaka, will stay there for couple days and explore the local foods, the wantan mee again looks amazing! and OMG we're fan of fried oyster too!
You guys must! Melaka truly is a food paradise. The wantan mee is amazing!
Yes ketupat and sate, match made in heaven!! 😍
Always down to any sate with ketupat or lontong, a very satisfying meal.
Yesss! The ketupat was a nice touch here instead of just the rice cubes
Wow all the food looks yummy.
It all was!
Man all these good look awesome 👍
They were!
That roast duck definitely looks so juicy, and the skin is FAV haha. We've tried roast duck with rice, fried rice, dry noodle, laksa and clear noodle soup, and went well with all of those! we need to have roast duck again soon! :)
Some of the best roast duck we’ve ever had! Can see why they sell out quickly
Greg eyes is wide and round each times the the foods taste delicious...I always waiting for that moment ...enjoy more.
Haha yup! There was a lot of that in this episode. Thank you!
Wow these look so delicious!
They are!
Wantan Mee looks amazing! Noodles and wantan! High praise from you guys.. definitely on my list..
We loved it!! Had it 3 times during our stay with no regrets haha
That snail looks intimidating. Never had that before. So cool that a lot of places you go to is family run over so many generations. Next year, I want to cook on Charcoal more thanks to you guys. I’ll take some of that pork satay!!!
Looks intimidating but it was absolutely delicious! Could have ordered even more that’s how good they were. Meeting the family and talking to them made the experience that much more special.
Yesss you should! Charcoal is the best
Yess!, great! you guys eat it correctly, to go with wan ton mee..must match with green chillies pickles and the wan ton dumplings.
Thank you! Have to get all those nice flavors together
I miss Melaka hawkers foods..different flavours from others states hawkers foods
Totally agree. We loved the flavors in Melaka - one of our favorite places in Malaysia so far
Blood cockles 😍😍 we love them so much, same we are addicted too. We always had them whenever we go to seafood street vendors too in Indonesia. Super tasty!
Recently when we tried the Penang CKT here in Melbourne, we are so surprised that they use blood cockles and even served them on their own. It’s very rare to have them here in Australia.
Yesss blood cockles are the best! Never had them before coming to Malaysia. So awesome that CKT in Melbourne uses them too. It looked really good!
Good presentations about foods👍
Thank you very much! 😁
@@FoodandFootprints You're welcome👍
Ahh never see Melaka type wantan mee before. True we get used to KL style which is darker color. But man pickled chilli is always the best to add with noodle, any noodle 🤣
You have to try it!! Peter and Yen nailed it
05:08 Oh! this is the popular Wantan Mee. It looks yum!!! love the spicy sauce!
Oh yes! Peter and Yen were so on point with this recommendation 👍
We miss your vlog..🤩🤩🤩
Thank you so much! We were sad when we realized we forgot to bring our hard drive to Kedah with us, but we are back! 😁
Greg's face is priceless at 14:49! I bet this place is a fun hangout spot too.
😂😂😂 this place is so cool! The vibe is extra special. Definitely a fun hangout spot - can imagine it would be even better with beer
That uncle cooking up those noodles! Must have alot of experience! The eggs brings the aroma into the noodles w that wok hey
He was actually cooking up the oyster omelette (aka fried oyster) but bet he could make a mean fried noodle with his wok skills
Wonderful that u guys tried d chinese food in Melaka.
Yes - there is a wonderful variety in Melaka!
@@FoodandFootprints Merry Christmas n Happy New Year.
@@Yasin_Affandi Thank you very much, Yasin! Thankful for all of your support this year
@@FoodandFootprints 😊
The sea nails never looked appealing until I saw this video. I may have to try it now!
Highly recommend, especially if you visit Melaka you must try this place
Oldest temple, that is so cool. Happy American Thanksgiving to you guys. I was wondering if you guys were going to celebrate.
Thank you! Figured roast duck would be a good substitute for turkey and man was it good 🤤
Melakaaa is food haven
It is! We loved it
Yess always gotta add chilis whenever possible!!
Yesss you know it! 👍
looks so yummy
It was! 🤤
Mmm roasted duck.. your eyes says it all! Man, making me hungry Greg!!! I can see why you would order 3 plate full!
Sooo good! And this place sells out quick - another reason to order an extra plate
Clever those tables d with trash holes in Capitol. Intestines Satay ! Thanks for sharing all these dishes. Very exotic.
So cool, right? We loved Capitol. The intestine was delicious. Thanks for watching!
Oooof love the chicken skin!!! So nice they have those black beans in the soup, and that chilly, I'll be drizzling it on our plates!
That roast duck skin was delicious! And that chili sauce so unique
Ahh definitely wanna try cockles sometime! I wonder if I can find them somewhere... you guys make them look so good 🤤
They are a must! Not sure how easy they are to find in the US
Hopefully you'll try Sarawak laksa, Kolo mee n meehoon belacan etc... next time 😆👍
We’ve had Sarawak Laksa in KL and PJ and enjoyed. Can’t wait to go to Sarawak someday and have all those dishes plus more!
Chicken rice for thanksgiving! Doing it the Malaysian way! :P
Haha. This duck and rice was perfect for Thanksgiving!
Note that Hainam Satay place! so drooling just by looking at those pork satay and they mix it with the fat, yum! we love intestines, must to order for us! :)
Definitely a must-visit in Melaka, guys! Tried 3 spots for Hainam satay and this was our favorite. Perfectly marinated and grilled
Alley dining is where is at. That place looks cool guys. You can also find a similar squid in S. Korea. That water spinach dish looks so good.
Couldn’t agree more! We love places like these for the vibe alone and the food was delicious too!
Street seafood on alleyways, heck yes!!! 👍🏻
Haha genius design of the table 😂👍🏻
Rojak sotong hahah still remember about it when we tried in Penang. I think the one we had was not a good one. Yours look 10x better and more delicious, look how many different sauces and toppings they put into the dish.
Oh man this sotong kangkung was delicious! Made fresh and lots of flavor
Hahaha great toothpick tip! We will definitely keep it in mind 😂
Haha 👍👍
@@FoodandFootprints just saw your post .... actually they have a small fork for the sea food.
Alley ways are the most hidden gems! Vietnam has a bunch of anyways stalls that holds the greatest foods in the world!
Definitely! Those alleyway spots are extra special.
Vietnam has so many legendary alleyway stalls - definitely wanna make it back there and spend more time!
Gizzard and intestines!! Dang grilll satay skewers!! Amazing!!! Thats a must try!
These are definitely a must try in Melaka!
Oooooo I would prefer roast duck over a turkey =P lol The color and meat looks soooo juicy! haha 4th portion! that must be a good duck! Yummm pickled chillis are so good! Agree, peter and yen great channel! Yeeeah alleyway eats are great hidden gems. Love the vibes too even though can get a bit intimidating until you sit down and taste the awesomeness lol. The seafood looks so fresh. The satays lined up like that is so good! They look great!
Definitely! Especially duck this good and with that chili sauce and rice 😋
Peter and Yen nailed this wantan mee recommendation! So glad they put us on to this spot.
Alleyway seafood spot is definitely one of the coolest places we’ve eaten in Malaysia and those satay some of the best we’ve had
Jumi sharing her expertise!
Snails are so good. Yes, please try those cockles pleeeeeease!! I feel I am eating through you guys hope you guys get to go to Galicia and eat cockles there and hope that you love them. I am obsessed as well
Ohh Galicia has cockles too? Have to try them someday!
@@FoodandFootprints yes made garlic, wine and herbs 🤤🤤
@@TheMamuchos That sounds absolutely delicious!
10:02 now thats a meal!! Nice dry squid! Looks very good and fresh snails!!
Such a great seafood feast!
That dried grilled squid, with a glass of beer!! Yummy.
Really wish we could’ve had a beer to go with it! Would’ve been even better
Jumi is concentrating so hard to make that perfect bite 😀. Yes, the calamansi is back. Is that pretty common there during meals like lemons here.
Oh yeah! We love how calamansi is so often found. Definitely like lemons in the US
That duck and beans soup looked to me at first as livers, the meat I mean. Seems like a nice comforting soup
It was a nice soup to pair with the duck and rice. And self-serve was 👍
That's pretty awesome that the soup is self serve! Don't mind if we do ^_^
Right? Such a good concept
Omg u guys order so much satay 😆 is that like 2 dozen? Pork satay is the best especially the fatty part 😋
Haha try 55! We went off after intermittent fasting. No regrets - they were sooo good
oooh the fried oysters looks fire!
They were! So nice with the garlic
