For the two het sunburst hognoses, I think calling them Dawn and Dusk would be cute, since together they make Sunbursts, like a sunrise or sunset.
I was actually just thinking that too.
yes!!! literally just commenting to boost this comment
Boosting! That's such a good idea!
Great idea!
Boost for Dawn and Dusk
Now that I've watched the video, I really love the fact that y'all added pictures to the possibilities of what y'all could get from these pairings! It really helps me visually understand the genetics of the snakes:)
Same here, and I also like that you "colour-corrected" the pictures of the lavenders so we can see what they look like in person. The lavender superconda looks just as gorgeous as I was hoping it would.
@@rosenewbie2773 My dream snake! My goal is to buy one of their lavender supercondas at some point 😍
I just came to say this! It was super helpful
I agree it was very helpful to see the photos to see what morphs you could get
I liked this too! Very helpful to see what they are!
OH MY GOD! Leia was my snake that I couldn’t keep when we moved. I’m so excited y’all kept her! I just got really emotional
Aw well I'm sure you're glad that Leia has the best home ever now!
@@lisachiappetti6092 definitely!
My mom would Never let me get a snake Your Super Lucky lol
@@nicmajor8648 Mine won't either but they got me a Bearded Dragon for my birthday 2022!
Had to stop to say I LOVE that Sol (Spanish for sun) is paired with Eclipsa in the year of a solar eclipse 😂
I didn't realize that until I saw your comment, thats awesome! I wonder if they did that on purpose :> Also, as a person that reads Warrior Cats, Sol hit different :sob:
The name of snake at 9:28 is probably spelt Aziraphale (Ah-z-ra-fell)! A character from Good Omens the show on Amazon prime which was an adaptation of the book by Neil Gaimen and Terry Pratchett :)
I’m sure you are right, because when they unboxed them, one of the other snakes was named Crawley 🙂
If spelled Azurophil, it is a type of cell found uniquely in reptiles. Kinda cool, in this context. 😎 🐍
Which is, first, a really good book
@doomcat537 also agree!
THANK YOU!! I finally can pronounce the name correctly!
"Ah-zir-a-fell" is the angel from Good Omens of book and tv fame
Right, with the accent on the second syllable.
Zir is like deer with a Z lol
Played by the incredible Michael Sheen.
Also it's spelled wrong in the tag it's Aziraphale
I love how Aziraphale's het toffee belly, it makes so much sense
As someone who can't see things visually in my mind, the little bubbles of possible hogs was a great addition! I can't wait for all the hatching videos!!! 🤗
aphantasia?
I also appreciate it, mainly because I just forget what all the different morphs look like LMAO
@@abbyelectric Yep!!! I have complete Aphantasia, I can't see anything in my mind at all! But most people don't know what Aphantasia is so I just don't use its name & explain that I can't see things in my mind 😂
i love that emily just casually says the most ridiculous snake names
Omnomlette (not sure of spelling) is my fav snek name.
“It’s going to be a longer video just to warn you guys”
Awesome!
Watch a hour vid.
@@amandahubble8896I do - often.
@@amandahubble8896 You’ve never watched their unboxing vids?
Fr
Like they could even make to long of a video that I wouldn’t watch.
Priscilla immediately proving why she is my favourite snake. I'm so happy you kept her, her shenanigans are just amazing, plus she's a good breeder :3
Yes,
Me too! Was very glad to see Mr. Wilson and Priscilla. Sad to see Janet and Brad’s babies go, though.
@@lindsayschmidt2177 Don't worry, the Brad and Janet holdbacks are actually still with us- they're educational ambassadors now! We just didn't show them because they're not at our Snake House since they're not breeders :)
@@SnakeDiscovery is it possible to bread a hognose with a bull snake???
@@SnakeDiscoveryhi question so can you breed a snow hognose with a sunburst hognose
Sad to see that we wont be seeing Shakira babies anymore but I do hope we get garter snake baby videos in some form (Even as part of a compilation video) again someday. Really loved those ♥ Good luck on this season!
Edit: WHAT were the CHANCES that the next video would be about garters??? Like the last garter video was 2 years ago WHATTT O:
It's so cool that you've sequenced the DNA of your breeder snakes! That's commitment.
From the days of pairing Brad and Janet in your spare room to this amazing facility, it’s amazing how much your love for what you do comes across 💗
We will miss them for ever
@@Mushroom-maddness104 what happened to them? :(
@@casstitudy Janet passed away due to old age and Brad had cancer :(
OMG Sol and Eclipsa sound like they’re made for each other! (Since ‘Sol’ usually means ‘Sun’)
Right?!? When she put them together, I was like... SOLAR ECLIPSE!!!
And a total solar eclipse will be visible in parts of the US on April 8th - less than a week away! A good omen for the pairing perhaps? (Not sure if they’ll be able to see the eclipse in Minnesota though)
@@prenticeclark1454I don’t think Minnesota is in the line of totality for the eclipse. Ohio is though and my grandparents in Ohio are near the center of the line of totality.
*Me Just Thinks Of Warrior Cats*
@@LuckySage122 same 🤣
I will NEVER say that one of your videos are too long. They're entertaining and educational at the same time
This is a little silly, but I’m really cheering for Busty Rhonda this year. She did get paired to Spiderpig last year but I’m hoping this year she’ll lay a good clutch- AND produce some axanthics this time! I think the year before that she was paired with Christopher Turk which did yield a big clutch but most of them went bad, save for three eggs. I’m cheering for Busty this year, she became my personal favorite because of her funny name and because of how friendly she seems to be!
It's a shame that you guys have had to downsize your bullsnake collection, but I'm glad that they've gone to a new home! Hopefully all the fun hognose morphs and the more unusual snake pairings will cheer you guys up a little despite the setback :)
Awh yeah I’m really gonna miss Mr steal your girl and the stripey line. I’m still convinced they had a new morph! The babies had clear bellies and everything
@@lookin4avampireone of my dream snakes was a bullsnake from stripey’s line but alas 😪
I really liked the demisration pictures to show what morph is being talked about :)
Definitely agree, thank you ❤
Aziraphale and Crowly are both named from the series Good Omens (Great watch if you all get the chance!)
Aziraphale's name according to google pronunciation guide is Uh-zeer-uh-FAY-yuhl. The easiest way I remember to get the name pretty close is Azura-Fail. Hope this helps!
The visuals helped a lot! Even after years of watching I could never keep track of the breeds from memory
it is so good to see breeders caring about the strength and health of the lines they make.
Am I the only one who loves their longer videos? 🙈🥰
i like them too😍❤❤❤❤❤❤💝💝💝💝💝🧡❤🧡💛💚💙💜❤🧡💛💚💙
Nope, I would watch it all day long!
me and you friend, me and you
There is something really soothing about hearing Emily and Ed talk... I love the enthusiasm and passion in their voice for their animals and what they do.
@@cricket00furoh yes 🥰
Thank you to whoever edited this with images of the possible combos because I always get confused by them!
I cannot put into words, how much I can’t WAIT to see strawberry shortsnakes & mr. Wilson’s eggs hatch! She’s so pretty with the red against the white, eee!
I also can’t believe how people don’t want these beautiful bullsnakes, they’re so gorgeous!
Kinda sad to say goodbye to the bullsnakes, but totally understandable with the less demand. Gonna miss Shakira and the patternless babies
Same! Shakira and Monroe were my favorite bullsnakes!
did they make a video on it ?
I love the new pictures of morphs edited in, it helps so much because I get them all mixed up in my head normally
10/10 for the photos showing what each snake can produce. It makes this so much easier to follow!!!
I love the addition of the example Pictures for possible outcomes! 🤩
It’s sad to think of all the bull snakes that are no longer apart of snake discovery, I understand why they got rehomed but I’ll still miss them, especially Hannah and stripey, I hope they are all still very loved in their new homes!
Hannah is my favorite snake. I'm seriously thinking of stop watching.
@@Kuraiuta I know Hannah was in the zoo, I hope she still is, I hope if the bull snakes are at a breeding home we can know which one so the people who want their babies can still, I hope Hannah is doing good in the zoo still!
It's like losing Brad Janet and peanut all over again
I totally respect their decision (I’d be a real weirdo if I didn’t), especially since it’s a homing issue. That being said, I’m REALLY gonna miss Shakira, her babies were super fun and seeing the variety she produced always had me looking forward to her clutches.
@@TheChildofAuraReborn I love Shakira! Her egg cutting and babies were the eggs I always looked most forwards too! It sadness me we won’t see her or her babies this year
Petition to see baby Garter videos this year!! ✍️
Yes, I love them, I want to see the babies every single time..
We aren't allowed to keep them where I live, but if we did, I would have kept some bluesided, they're absolutely gorgeous..
And I love that they're easy to care for. ❤
Yes! They are so tiny and adorable!
Yes please 🙏
Well I have some good news for you.
In case you missed it, or for anyone new to the channel/is behind and want a garter video, they just released a new video for an all new genetic morph (for plains garters I think) like yesterday! They just got the first ever clutter of that type, so I’m also hoping we get to see a LOT more garters soon, because I want to know if it’s recessive or dominant and if it reacts to other morphs!
I love the long videos! I'm sure I'm not alone in that either. Bring on the hour long videos!
Strawberry Shortsnake has such pretty colorations, I can see how she got her name.
Helpful hint: For Aziraphale's quick attitude adjustment, just change the names of all the females he has to breed with to Crowley. He'll be all over that. 😂
Or Nanny Ashtoreth also works in a pinch ;)
Lmao I was going to comment something like that
🤣🤣🤣🤣
He don't want no ladies
@@melanopygus Unless they’re Nanny Ashtoreth…
aw i'm already excited for all the baby videosss
also please don't skip too many baby videos thinking it would be too much or we'd get bored of them cuz thats never gonna happen, i want to see as much as possible :D
I will watch every video of every baby snake hatching or being born.
If I get bored through out the day I watch old egg hatching videos
Yay, it's breeding season! I hope everything goes smoothly! Thank you for adding the possible breeding outcomes, it is nice to see them visualised!
“This video has gone on long enough” nooooo not long enough!! I would’ve watched another ten minutes at least!
Priscilla launching at the male snake is a whole mood lol
i absolutely LOVEEEE pairing plansss! i'm not sure why, i just do :3
i'm also extremely excited for babiesss! hearing emily say "BABIES" every year makes me so happy for no reason

@@gus-gusandozzyyeah i realized that so i changed it
I like it cause we get to see so many snakes that we don't get to see very often
SAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I think it's a mix of "ooh what are they gonna end up making!" and "oooh snakes we don't see usually!"
I'll miss Stripey, he was my new favorite bullsnake after Brad passed away
I'm sure you could double or triple the length of these videos or other videos, and people would love to watch! At least I know I would 😂❤
I don't think you guys ever need to worry about a video being "too long."
The videos are extremely entertaining anyway and don't need extra "effort" in order to make it something that holds peoples attention.
Of course, I know it would be a lot of extra work, so it's understandable as to why they arent that long but still, there's never a need to worry if a video is too long or filled with filler/random footage etc. Your audience loves you for you. We are always delighted when we get new videos! 😄
Consistently, you guys have been one of my favourite channels for several years now, and I have loved seeing the huge growth and steps you guys have gone through over the last 5 years 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you for the hours upon hours of hard work, dedication, information, and entertainment you've given over the years and to everyone else who has ever been involved in it or has helped in order to make it work. It's much appreciated ❤
🐍🦎🐊❤ (I could not ignore the alligator emoji when I saw it, Rex was a huge part of how I found the channel years ago so I had to put it as a tribute to her😂❤)
Kinda sad to see the Stripey bullsnake project get dropped, but maybe his new home will keep experimenting to see if the stripe is genetic or not. I guess this is really the end of Brad/Janet/Peanut and their crazy offspring on the channel 😢
Glad to see you deciding to not just breed unwanted snakes though. It is the responsible thing to do. Dog rescues are all overloaded with basically variations of one breed and similarly it looks like your rescue is overloaded with bearded dragons and ball pythons. Curbing breeding when there is no market for the offspring is a way to hopefully reduce the number of homeless animals.
We will miss the snakes forever
I'm really happy they are being responsible in breeding animals they can find homes for, though I still wish they would not breed any ball pythons because there are SOOO many in the market. Really glad they kept Priscilla though! I want to keep seeing spicy Priscilla and Ed interactions!
Kinda sad to see the end of the Brad/Peanut line, they were both really big for bullsnakes(especially Peanut!) and I was always wondering if any of their babies would inherit their father Peanuts size.
@@jackierocha5096they said they kept some of janet’s babies not sure who the dad was tho
@@kevinandreggietheminilops janet is the dad, brad is the mom
Aziraphale is from Good Omens, I highly recommend both the book and the Amazon series, I cant believe you haven't heard about it, but its amazing. Its also why the other one was named Crowley. Theyre the main characters of the series
I thought I remembered that got Crowley too. Thanks for the confirmation 👍
I like that you guys still show us your breeding plans, hatchlings and all that especially now that you have your zoo! I subscribed originally for care videos and eggs!
So happy that you've expanded while still keeping people like me satisfied with these kind of videos!!
I would really enjoy a photo shot episode of all the breeders. Like with either the black or white background and name tags. Plus you know at least half the video would end up as snake shenanigans.
They would make fun reference images and informational pages when talking about breeding plans and egg hatching vids and genetics. (Like those used in the breeding video). It would be so fun to have little visual family trees for some of the snakes and/or genetic combinations.
I have learned so much from Snake Discovery, and love the use of visuals, a very helpful learning tool.
Some of the males essetianlly running away at the sight of the ladies they were paired with was hilarious, especially when the ladies were clearly very interested in breeding 😂
I was going to suggest Hydrogen and Helium as the sunburst pair's names, but it would be more y'all's style to name them...
Helium and Shelium.
This is the best thing I've ever read
I'm not sure if you're going to see this, but I'm very happy at how responsible you guys are as breeders. Choosing to downsize to not oversaturate the market is a VERY responsible decision and I respect that a lot. Thanks for your good work!
I love watching your breeding plans for the year. I've always looked forward to this video for the past five years.
It is amazing the size difference between male & female hognoses. Some of those males looked so tiny. Good luck with the pairings and here's hoping for a wonderful laying & hatching season.
So many exciting pairs this year! I'm especially looking forward to the sable hognoses. I think featuring the bubbles that showcase the different morphs was an amazing addition
I’m hoping the sable hets work out for Ed’s sake. I felt really bad when Sabelle passed away and Ed had been looking forward to producing sable babies.
Please never stop adding the pictures of what their potential breeds look like I do f know a thing about snakes so it’s SO NICE. I usually stop and google it lol
I wanted y'all to know that the other night I got to see my son's pet boa, Angel, and I had zero fears and was so pleasantly surprised by how nice it was to hold my new grand-pet. I owe that to your videos. Thank you Emily and thank you Ed!
Who knew I would be so excited about snake breeding? Never clicked so fast. Longer videos are alright for me. Thanks for this.
Longer video's are LOVED & WANTED!!
I love that I they put up photos so we know what the snakes look like

Yay I am so excited to see some baby snakes!!!!! I just discovered you guys last year after baby season so this is the first time I can wait with everyone. As for the two snakes without names I would suggest Maple, Dusty, or Dusk. Also I love Joy and I am excited to see her babies!
Clicked without hesitation. Really enjoy these videos. Even made it so I want a snake now. 😊

Ohhhh the Patreon backers are gonna be hype about this video!
Those waitlists are gonna pop off!
You guys have taught me so much about snakes and reptiles . Thank you😊
Thanks for all the pictures inserted while you listed the possible morphs! That really helped.
i love how these videos get longer each year (or at least it feels like it) - more content/snakes to watch and it just shows how much emily + ed have grown
Hooray. It’s breeding season🎉. Can’t wait for baby season
I am so excited! I love how you guys work hard to get your goal colors and then breed to strengthen those bloodlines. ❤
Thanks for showing pictures of the possible outcomes. So i can understand the pairings better.
Aziraphale is from a show called Good Omens (which is amazing) and pronounced A-zoo-ra-fil. So excited to see the breeding plans this year. Hognoses are illegal in australia, so i love watching the videos to see the cute little boop noses :D
Aziraphale = (Uh-zeer-uh-fail) ... he is a character from the book "Good Omens" by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchet... he is an angel, along with is buddy a Crawley (a demon who "didn't so much fall from Heaven as saunter vaguely downward")... highly recommend!
Does Crawley never change his name in the books? In the show Crawley is his old name he goes by Crowley later in the series.
@@tunnelfrog872 Both names are referenced in the book... Crawley was his first name because he was the serpent in the garden.
I loved watching this years ago and I had a break and didn’t watch for ages but I have been watching all of the vids so I didn’t miss anything and I’m all caught up
I have been following your channel for years and have been slowly building an enclosure to eventually care for one of your baby mbk or vietnamese blue beauty snakes. Please keep them as projects for a little bit longer!
Keep it up! Great work and great plans! Nice to see important work being done and real progress being made with your tremendous energy and dedication!
I saw from another breeder that snakes lock up more on days when it is about to rain. He said that when the barometric pressure changes, snakes lock up more. I hope it rains in your arear so your snakes have more success at breeding!😊❤
