Ciri has cool powers
The Witcher is an upcoming TV series exclusive to Netflix, based on the Witcher series by Andrzej Sapkowski, who will serve as a creative consultant on the show. It was announced on May 17, 2017 and its first season will consist of 8 episodes and set to be released on December 20.
In December 2017, it was announced that Lauren Schmidt Hissrich will be the series' showrunner and on January 20, 2018, Lauren Hissrich tweeted that the script for the pilot episode is finished.
The series was filmed in Hungary, Poland, and the Canary Islands.
Filming began in October 2018 and concluded in May 2019. It's been confirmed from casting news and promotional material that the first season will adapt most of the collection of short stories from The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny.
In November 2019, before the first season even premiered, it was announced the show was already renewed for a second season and would begin production in London in early 2020, with a planned debut in 2021.
In September 2018, it was announced that Henry Cavill would play Geralt of Rivia

@ForgottenOnes I have time for serious anwser now. In books using magic is associated with a hormonal disorder, which in most women leads to infertility. To atrophy of gonads. So:
Yennefer becoming sorceres had blind chance of staing fertile. She never decided to go sterile.
Visenna believed that she was sterile, so she accidentally made Geralt.
Adalia was taught to control her magical talent, but she never underwent training for a sorceress. She cared for a career court so she tried not to risk loss of fertility. It was rumored that she could lift the drawbridge with a blink of an eye.
Tissaia de Vries thought sorceresses apprentices should be sterilized. Because children born with magical talent were often crazy or were a threat to others and themselfs.
And Im not gonna try to understand how it works in netflix series.
Finished season one, this show might replace my yearning for GOT.

In the Game, Ciri said she spent half of a year in the Cyberpunk 2077 World, where people have metal arms and flying ships. I hope there is a Ciri Side Quest when I play Cyberpunk!

I found it interesting...in the books...that Ciri's power was a chance happening between her father and mother. The lodge of sorceresses understood that while the "elder blood" bloodline was weakened from centuries of interbreeding with humans, if a male with the right gene mated with a weakened female of the bloodline, the result was an exceptionally powerful elder blood connection. So, in the books, several parties sought to capture her in order to impregnate and produce an even more powerful child with the elder blood.
So far I find the show to be fascinating. The characters are pretty easy to figure out. I especially like henry cavill.

Those short travels are so helpful in a fight, the best way to deal with somebody trying to hit you with a weapon is to simply not be there.I was planning to read the books and watch the Netflix series, and after watching several interviews with Henry Cavill, I gotten even more interested in seeing it.

Can you do a run down on specific encounters and what was changed from the books or how scenes played out differently compared to the books. I have read the first three books but I am not sure if they just spead up some of the scenes or cut material. In my mind the scene in which Geralt was hunting the Sylvan and was captured by the elves was longer and more elaborate.

I think her powers were more than that in the Netflix series. She went into to a trance and killed those kids who were trying to harm her. She also split the ground when she screamed after trying to escape from the castle after it was seiged.
palaginghuli she didn’t split the grown, she broke a spire which fell and split the ground. Her power works exactly the same in an uncontrolled state in the game it throws around everything and her voice is incredibly deadly

this makes it sound like her power is not all that potent. it doesn't explain why people are after her, willing to burn an entire kingdom down to get to her. there must be something else that makes her so compelling that you omitted. is there something special about her blood that nilfguardia wants her?
The fact she can traverse through space and time seems like a good reason she is being hunted. This would make it convenient for armies to relocate easier or to alter major events.

@@klvn2266 Thanks. All I see in the above video at 4:36 is the tree alone against a dark blue background. In the tv series, she went to the tree with the Queen of the Forest and drank the water from its trunk. I didn't think the two are the same tree.

Yes. They first showed the results of the grandmother not honoring destiny, which was all of them being slaughtered, then it went back and showed how the Witcher met the grandmother, Princess and Cursed Knight. Then they showed how Ciri became the Watcher's 'Promise Surprise'.
There are couple vids that explain the timeline. I had to watch 1st epidsode again at the end to fully understanding the timeline.

He takes potions and decoctions to buff himself up for battle. They're toxic and poison his body, being a Witcher is how he is able to use them at all without dying. The toxicity what turns his eyes black and his skin all Palpatiney.

A genetic mutation created by elven mages to give birth to a powerful child that would exceed their power and save them from annihilation
Elder blood is a special blood that flows in the blood of certain elves. It is also mentioned in Ithlinnes prophecy that says the world will be covered of ice and be reborn of elder blood. The Elven wizards, realized that this Elder blood has special powers (pertaining to control over space and time). So they started an experiment, setting up elves with elder blood to get married, thereby increasing the potency of elder blood in the children.
After about 1000 years of experimentation, they arrived at Larra Dorren. An Elven sorceress who had immense powers due to her elder blood. Unfortunately for the elves, Larra fell in love with a human Lord named Cregennan. This was a time when humans and elves hated each other, and Larra and Cregennan's love was a symbol of hope that the two races can live together. This attracted an angry mob which ended up killing both of them.
However, before Larra died, she gave birth to a half elf girl named Riannon. 300 years later, Ciri is born in the same bloodline. In Ciri's case, accidentally both her parents happen to be from the same blood line, thereby increasing the potency in her blood several folds.
According to the books, the power Ciri gets from her blood is more than 1000 times as that of a sorcerer. However, Ciri has no clue on how to control it.
At times of immense stress and anger, the power would come out destroying everyone around her.
If Ciri can master her powers, she could travel across space and time effortlessly.

Around 13 in the show and 18-19 in the game
At the start of the main book series, she's around 12 or 13, and by the end she's closer to 16. I think by the time of the Witcher 3 (the only game she appears in) it's been about 7 years since end of the books, so in The Witcher 3, she supposed to be in her early 20s.

How a witcher is created?
By going through the trial of the grasses where they indulge lethal herbs and mushrooms to transform their bodies ao mutagens can be added. only 3 in 10 survive this. Afterwards they are taught sword combat, magical signs and alchemy and complete other trials in order to become an effective witcher.

It's to show that she's pregnant, it's a symptom called "morning sickness" that some pregnant women experience early on and during their pregnancy, and everyone looked astonishingly at Geralt because "the law of surprise" had just been put into place, so since the pregnancy was a surprise to everyone it meant the unborn child is Geralt's "surprise child."

I would have thought a show with such great production values could at least have afforded some good CL's for Ciri instead of blowing the whole budget on other things and having to use the bottoms of Grolsch beer bottles as a substitute. Her powers aren't awakened yet in the show.. The scream is just for showing the viewers that she is very powerful... Teleporting is her main powers but that's not all that she can do..

NetFlix movie has made me completely be disinterested in Ciri and Yennefer. Keep thinking Yenne is useless! All the portals she can conjure and yet doesn't when they head up the mountain to get to the dragon, doesn't when headed to the hold to stop the bad guy army. If she hasn't any control over where her portals go, how is it she doesn't create a portal a mile under the ocean, inside an active valcano etc., someplace that would instantly kill her or all that step into her portal?
