It’s difference in being kinda ugly and flat out ugly. When you’re flat out ugly you have every reason to accept it but when you’re inbetween you can’t just own it as an ugly person. You feel me?

Completely relate...grew up being told how ugly I was throughout my life which scarred me throughout school and led me to have severe mental health issues. People have no idea how terrible it is. I know people that are worse than me but it doesn't help. The teasing and bullying was not so bad as I got older but I was already mentally damaged. People don't realise how hard and how damaging it can be. Say all you like about being a good person or whatever but society doesn't work like that. People don't give you a chance to get to know them. And people say it as a joke but it is only a joke to them. I think you can be very vulnerable to abuse and exploitation because you are desperate for genuine love and attention. Thank you for this video and your courage to do it

Yeah,it does.I remember I was in grade 9 when boys started to ask all the girls in the class if they have a boyfriend but when it came to me they laughed me out,I felt so upset and shocked at the same time and learners tell me harsh stuff and I can sense they treat me like an outsider now today I have no friends and I'm gonna quit that school I can't take it anymore,I'm currently in grade11 I went through enough peer pressure and relational bullying and now I'm suffering from severe depression and anxiety and I have to take pills all because I don't fit in I don't even look ugly from my perspective all the nasty things they said about me and my 'friends' gossiping behind my back it took a heavy toll on me ,I even ate my lunch once in the rain alone because of all the shit at that school . The worst thing is I even reported to the principle how the learners in the class take advantage of me because I seem like a quiet ,shy kid which I'm not at all and she did nothing about ,I had to remind her twice but she did nothing about that's why I'm done with that school ,I can't take that shit anymore.

Your words remind me of my cousins son. He committed suicide at 14 because of bullying at school. His looks were the topic. His dad had died of Covid ( actually intubation at the hospital for Covid) only months before and his mother ( my cousin) was left a widow in her early 30’s with 4 children. He couldn’t cope with the loss of his dad, and the pressure he felt at school. He jumped off a bridge and his uncle and grandpa searched the river for an entire day and found him the following day. Absolutely heartbreaking!!! We live in a society where perfection is the standard. Apps alter our looks to make us look our own version of perfect. I know people who are unrecognizable in person because they heavily filter their photos on line. Social media has made this problem with self esteem explode. True joy and happiness comes from inside… knowing Jesus and putting your trust in him because he cares for what you care about. Lastly learning to like yourself. Stop looking at what other people say is wrong with you and judging yourself by their standards. I guarantee they all have insecurities too. We all do.
