I introduce Mick to the process of learning to do push-ups. The trick is a combination of Down and Stand, two commands you gradually combine in one trick.
Dude this is fucking sick, I was thinking if it was possible to train animals this, and first thought of gorillas. Then I realized it might be possible to train my cat how to do them and found this jaja
Hello Lisa, thanks for your video. It was really helpful. However, my idea to teach my dog to do push-ups with me. And this is the biggest problem. As soon as I get on the floor he stops to understand me.
What an awesome idea for a trick! And of course he stops to understand you--he's a good dog! Some things you might try: have another person do push-ups so he gets used to a human doing it too and/or have the other person give your dog the command while you do push-ups too. You might also go back to basics, training the trick all over again, but this time making your movements the command--when you're down on your belly, that's "down," and when you're up on your arms, that's "stand." That way, your dog will be mirroring you, and you can gradually move yourself into position where you want to be in relation to him (i.e. face-to-face or beside him). Let us know how it goes!
Thanks, yes, I was thinking to ask my son to give him a command, while I do pushups. However, an idea to learn from scratch a new body signal to mirror me sounds even more promising. Thanks again (y)
I love this trick. Also cute when dog and owner do it together. I like to have my dog and i facing each other and we do it together.
I bet that's really cute!
