    The fact that it did not cut all the way through the rib is in fact evading the rib. It would have compressed the blade while traveling at full speed. It does not have the ability to avoid hitting bone. When it hits bone at full speed, the blade compresses.

    • @TheHuntingJunkie_
      @TheHuntingJunkie_  Месяц назад +1

      I agree with you. But I’m not sure it compresses at speed as quick and effectively as it should. Regardless, it likely as some evading function. I’m just not sure it’s worth the premium cost.

      I agree with price angle I like the sharpness of blades my concern with this head is this Josh Bomar shot a sprite 2 liter bottle using his slow mo camera now it was his second or third shot and the broadhead opened in flight using his 90 lb limbs compound bow I am starting to notice that the more times the head is shot the weaker the spring or the retention system is that holds it closed and that makes me nervous I found out the hard way when trypan came out and Rage sold me the compound one to shoot out my crossbow and it kept coming open and I could not even hit a hog a 30 yards period so for now I am out stick with my sevr

      @@timbow50 my #1 gripe is spending 2x on a technology (none evading) that let’s say works flawlessly but the % of shots that actually line up on the ribs for the technology to be useful is low. I believe this technology is more valuable on large game like moose, elk, etc than a whitetail deer. I think Josh knows and believes that too… but market size is larger in the whitetail market.

      @@EricBynog-zd4rd yessir! I noticed that in my video as well. I wish I could have stated some thing differently but once the content is shot it’s shot. However, this broadhead is not different than the other mechanicals we know and love. It’s a single use head. Nothing more, nothing less. So the real question is, do you want to spend 2x the price for a broadhead that is sharper, well designed, and has some rib bone evading technology should your broadhead line up on the ribs that allows that technology to be beneficial. Some will spend it some won’t. I can make an argument each way. If a $30 broadhead helps you harvest a once in a lifetime animal that’s a small price to pay.

  • @WeekendPursuitOutdoors

    I think the head performed as it's supposed to. The blades compressed a little as they hit bone, but you got to remember once thru the bone the blades will flex back open as it slices thru the lungs then out the other side. I never shoot a broadhead more rhan once thru an animal without replacing the blades or sharpening them. I like this broadhead, but you're right. The premium price of these heads is too expensive, IMO. For a fixed blade head, Slick Trick Magnums get my vote, and for an expandable, the G5 deadmeat, although it's usually a 1 hit wonder they do leave a nasty hole. Thanks for the video!

    • @TheHuntingJunkie_
      @TheHuntingJunkie_  Месяц назад

      Thanks for your comment! I agree it’s probably a nice head and functions close to as advertised. But you are paying a premium for a single use head that may or may not even need to miss a rib.

    Next time, smoke the ribs for 5 hours and the meat will fall off the bone and be more visible.
    Also, I don't think it will pass between ribs without leaving score marks on both sides. At that velocity and having sharp blades it will still leaving marks even as it evades the ribs. I'm not a mechanical fan so I'll stick to my fixed blades. Mechanicals only work...until they don't.

    • @TheHuntingJunkie_
      @TheHuntingJunkie_  Месяц назад

      Probably should have done that to get a better visual but time is at a premium for me at this point in my life lol! I agree, my curiosity is what another 2” head would do when it centers between a rib like that. I wish one of the shots would’ve been closer to a rib. Just goes to show, very few shots will actually need to ”evade” a rib. Stars have to align for that shot to happen. 1/3 shots in this test even had a chance, and that one was centered between each rib I bet all mechanicals would’ve done about the same thing in that situation.

    You are not suppose to pull the broad head out backwards out of the target. So you damaged the head internally. So after the first shot you should not expect the head to work properly.

    good video- thanks for putting up the $$ and effort. It is proven the broadhead will work and kill an animal, there is zero doubt. All mechanicals have their pros and cons- that's a given. The spring is a blessing and a curse-lol. You also have to remember that the bones and meat move- there will be times when they stretch apart if you shoot horizontal between the ribs. That does not necessarily mean the meat did not stretch as a "wedge" of the blades entered and the spring of the broad head did not give. The price is a bit much, I will stick to a Sevr if I need blood on the ground for tracking and fixed for everything else.

My greatest complaints are the price point, complexity (mechanicals are complicated enough, I can’t imagine a spring simplifies things lol), and edge retention. Maybe that was the foam target??? Maybe it was the bone?? Regardless, it didn’t hold up

      The problem is the internet is chalk full of garbage comments from people that dont know sh*t about jack... be very very cautious listening to people that talk smack online. Im not even a fan of the bomars, but if its the poaching thing you are getting at, that whole scenario is way more complex than simple minded trolls like to make of it. He settled for a small charge and got to move on with life. IF he wanted to continue to fight that case through the courts it probably would have cost him another fortune, and probably all just to end up at the same charge anyways. The fact that he settled may not look good to the simple minds out there, but financially, and in regards to time and stress, he made the right decision to settle 100%... regardless if you are guilty or not, sometimes the justice system is gross and you are better off to cut your losses and get the heck out with a small hit. Now, is he the most ethical hunter... nope, thats for sure... but I also think he got caught up in that poaching case more than he deserved. The outfitter was doing some dirty stuff and he went down with the ship. He must have been aware that some weird stuff was going on though so he deserves to get hit with something, as he did.
      Thats my opinion anyways... and as i said, dont listen to people on the internet... including me, do your own investigating and don't solidify an opinion until you are rock solid on the real information. Quick searches often lead you straight to the social media BS. If i only ever did quick research on things I would probably think the planet is flat and there is 150 genders... lol.

    trying to hold this head to way too high of a standard. if you shot a deer (or watched videos) or watched others shooting them, they are devastating. all of those shots would have killed a dear quickly. it performed well. BTW, Bowmar says 2-3 animals with it. not 7-9 deer. mechanicals are for 1 animal. if you want to shoot 7-9+ deer with one head, buy a single bevel and be done with mechanicals all together. Trifecta single bevel 3 for $53. super high Lusk Archery score. buy them. if your bow isnt tuned correctly for fixed broadheads then buy a mechanical

    • @TheHuntingJunkie_

      Maybe so. But $30 per broadhead should be held to a higher standard than a $15 or less broadhead. I agree, it is a single use head like all mechanicals. And bowmar does say 2-3 harvest per head. But he also has stated 7-9 in video on social media. It’s has pros and cons like any head. My argument is simple, the pros do not justify the 2x price compared to similar competitive heads, all an opinion. But I do appreciate your comment and time watching my video. I’m going to shoot a doe with the other head and see what I find there. Should be interesting! I think they are a perfectly fine head if you are willing to drop $60 for 2.

      I have real-world testing! Beast 125 grain 2.3" Complete pass through on quarting-to shot on a cow elk at 24 yards. Avoided the front shoulder bone with blade as designed to do and broke the center of the rib of the offside. She was smoked and died quickly. The blades were shave your arm sharp afterwards. Personally, I'd never shoot a big game animal twice with a mechanical without replacing the blades or sharpening a fixed. I'm not so cheap as to do that. However, it would be put to the back of the quiver for a predator arrow or follow up shot if needed. These tests only tell some of the story. And I've had awesome results with G5 Mega Meats and Rage Extreme broadheads too. Beast do fly awesome, weigh what they say, are super sharp, not too difficult to use as suggested, and people need to stop calling him a poacher when you don't know the facts. It's America, and you can buy and use whatever you want. But I'm willing to bet those that make the comments are just haters that are hating.
