My S8 has been having trouble fast charging with 3rd party cables, and sometimes switches between slow, fast, and regular charging with the OEM. Because of that, I made the decision to get the S20 with Black Friday sales and do a trade-in. Super excited to give it a try since I've only ever used Samsung phones.

There is one app that doesn't run on my s20+ DEVONthink and if it wasn't for this I wouldn't have the iPhone period. I changed the 12 for an XR. I''m so much happier. I use the s20+ all the time now. Good job Mike.

64gb on a flagship phone is not at all acceptable in 2020. It should be minimum of 128gb, I would even expect it should be 256gb as minimum in flagship devices.

Good review as always Mike! I'm sitting on the Galaxy S20 since it's been released early March and it won with the iPhone 11 Pro for the 'most compact full package phone with best possible cameras' for me. Now since the iPhone 12 series has been released I'm yet again thinking about whether I should switch to iPhone. My biggest concern is that the regular 12 doesn't have Dolby Vision 4k60 (which I constantly use for filmmaking) and the 12 Pro cost can't be justified enough with the 12 Pro Max having (most likely) much better camera set this year. And yet, 12 Mini to come which brings me to a seriously big question mark. Guess I will wait for the 12 Pro Max and 12 Mini release so they can be tested and then decide what should I do next - stay on S20 for now or switch to one of iPhone 12s.
I have the same issue though not for the same reasons. I was tempted to go early for the iPhone 12 Pro (little bit bigger than last year) but decided that it was worth waiting for the other two releases and make a decision then. iOS should be less buggy, the beta has currently improved battery life so that will be released just before the Max is released. The mini is tempting but it looks really tiny with no bezels! Good luck!
The Dolby vision on the iPhone 12 is Apple's own version. The videos recorded using that format on the iPhone 12 series wont play in Dolby vision on a TV. I'm using an iPhone 12 Pro just for context.
Here in Brazil the S20 is like half the price of the 12 Mini. Too bad ours is the Exnyos 990 version. Going to wait for the S21 with the 5nm Exnyos with no Mongoose cores, should perform just as well as the Snapdragon counterpart. Amazing videos as always Mike!
I'm at your side with the same feeling regarding the chips. Of course the s21 price will be high, but i'm sure that with a good battery, s21 is gonna be a monster.
@@thanos123 antutu means shit, all of them will run anything, will multitask with no issue. It makes no difference in real like performance. I had a S10 with a Exnyos 9820 and now I have a P30 Pro with a Kirin 980. On paper the Exnyos is way ahead of Kirin, on benchmarks, but in real usage is just as fast, doesn't heat up and has good efficiency. Benchmarks mean nothing, it's like teraflops in consoles/gpus.
Really wanted to get an iphone 12 pro max as I had samsung galaxy S8, S9, S10 plus since I ditched apple.a few years back and wanted to try it again. But then the fullscreen display, finger print sensor, dual sim, expandable memory, bigger battery, 120 Hz refresh rate....whom am I kidding..it was $655 discounted price tag of unlocked Samsung Galaxy S20 PLUS that got me to stay away from iphone for another year.. Probably will switch next year to iphone if they add these specs to their pro max model
So you upgrade every year? Samsung one Ui software is improving so much and so fast. The one Ui 3.0 beta is out and it looks and feels so much more polished. I would stick to the s20 for a couple more years. No point in switching every year. Next year the s21 will have the 875 chip which will be extremely powerful and paired with improved camera software and new one ui and thinner bezels with the whole punch? Why would you want to switch to iphone
First, I really like your videos. Your content is very helpful when deciding which product to get. I think one thing that you should also talk about is screen protectors. I switched from Apple to Samsung and the film screen protectors are somewhat annoying and weird feeling when compared to tempered glass for iPhones.
Mike, your videos are the best. You get straight to what we want to see, no gimmicks and your honest opinion is valuable. It really covers everything up and it makes it so much easier to make a decision. Also you are adorably distracting, and that is a compliment. New subscriber.
Always enjoy your videos Mike. Finally subscribed. I have never owned a iPhone so can't really comment much about it. I do like there video camera though. I have the S20+ and have been very happy with it. Does everything that I want and more.
S20 advantages : 120 hz, option for WQHD, expandable storage, decent camera set up, gorilla glass 6 front and back, ultrasound finger print sensor, decent chipset, 25 Watt charger that comes in the box, akg headphones which also come in the box, amazing haptics, customizability, copper vapour chamber, bigger battery. Same bro. Been on Android for 10 years and apart from pixel os, literally all skins I’ve seen are terrible! There is no consistency with app design and in general I’ve noticed a lot of graphical bugs and glitches on them. iOS simply has stricter quality control with their app developers. In 10 years youtubers have been comparing Apple vs Samsung and the conclusion is always the same ”if you are a tech person buy samsung, if you really like something simple buy iphone” I mean Ccoooommooooonn! Say something else then ”let me know what you guys think”
I've always been an Android person, and typically Samsung. I spent a fortune on the Galaxy Note 10 + and it has been plagued with issues since the day I bought it. The antennas don't work right, so the service is horrible on cellular or wifi. Despite it's huge and typical "pissing contest" that Samsung does on stats for ram and processor speeds, the phone lags and runs horrible even on the simplest tasks. My Note 4 years and years ago would blow the doors off this one. The "super tough" material used on the back shattered from a waist height drop onto a wood floor. I think Androids (and therefore Samsungs) are great when they get it right. But I just can't afford to gamble that kind of money away on a device I use all day every day for years. I hate to do it, but I'm switching to the iPhone 12 (even while still paying payments on my Note 10+). It's really that bad. My Samsung Galaxy S3 was a better phone. Hell, my "Galaxy Fascinate" was a better phone than this.
the only opinion i can't agree with o'brien is that iphone wins aesthetic part. i would pick reverse wireless charging on a phone particularly a phone without headphone jack oppose to a phone which offers a flat back only
Please correct your video! The magsafe charger will charge android / iphone 11s devices really slow. Other youtubers have tested it with android / older apple devices and its taking around 3.5 hours to charge the phone. Apple advertise the magsafe charger to charge all qi compatability devices at 7.5w however in reality its more like 2w. Only the iPhone 12 line will take the advantage of the 15w charge. So the advice is if you really want to take advantage of magsafe only buy it if you have the iPhone 12!
The s20 display wins it all no competition, that forehead and bezel on the iPhone 12 is horrendous, plus they never did anything to get rid of or shrink that top forhead
How is magsafe considered a feature?? What the hell. Magnet on the back, really. How is having to detach the phone manually from the wireless pad a difference over sticking the charger in the phone port and how is it a feature over the put it down and pick it up with no issues from a wireless pad?
There ist literally no upside as you have a big clonky plastic thing attched to your phone instead of a small cable. But consumers are stupid. +The cable still charges way faster. So whats the point
S20 still wins, even though it's the older product, it looses in processing power yes, but if you want a comparable processor, the S21 with 5nm too is coming
So which one is it? Are you Team Galaxy or Team iPhone??

I love always on display. It's amazing to me that Apple has never implemented it.
Android has so many best features that are useful but apple never give to its customers that's why I switched to android and love my samsung S20+.
@@rorjackson that’s because apple knows even if they don’t have any or big innovation, they’re still people willing to buy their phones since it’s Apple or it’s services, Quality guaranteed. Great video! I just upgraded my Galaxy S8 today to the S20.
How do you like it so far ? I have an s8 and have the same problem but can only wirelessly charge now. Waiting for the 21 but the s8 has definitely been my all time fav 😭
@@EsojcorteS Well, I had a lot of unexpected stuff happen to me after upgrading with my carrier so I wasn't able to upgrade right away. You've almost hit the nail on the head. The s20/+ is so much better. The iPhone 12 is a complete sham. I sold my pro max for this crap. I took my iphone 12 pro back today no regrets. I've been a Mac user since 84. I'm so disapppointed with this company., I'm also concerned about RUclipsrs getting us to spend our money on what you think is the greatest thing against sliced bread. As soon as I put the 12 in my hand i didn't like the feel but it got worse. Then I noticed 90% of the time i was picking up the s20+. There is one app that doesn't run on my s20+ DEVONthink and if it wasn't for this I wouldn't have the iPhone period. I changed the 12 for an XR. I''m so much happier. I use the s20+ all the time now. This is the phone. I'm sure the Pixel is fantastic but I like OneUI. It is the best and most efficient UI on the market. I wish I could con ince DEVONtech to write an Android app but no effect .... Good job Mike.
I just got the s20 today after a long love/hate relationship with an iPhone 11. It was my first iPhone. I'm loving the s20! It feels like a reunion with an old friend.
64gb on a flagship phone is not at all acceptable in 2020. It should be minimum of 128gb, I would even expect it should be 256gb as minimum in flagship devices.
Love your reviews, Mike! Honest, unbiased, and covering the important points. Your videos are getting better by the day, and I'm a fan! ❤️👍🏼😊

The Samsung camera looked Better I think but the iphone 12 has a better mic
yes but i seen other videos and the mic of the s20 was better so idk who is the best
@@DwightCavalcanti I excite about the 6'2 inch model, with a 5nm chip and a 4000mAh battery, should be sick.
*perform even better than the sd
Y'all know that Snapdragon 875 just score 800+k at antutu....kirin 9000 and exynos 2100 just score 690k... iPhone 12 is the lowest score at 580k...
Even if apple puts new hardware by that time samsung will get better hardware that's why i think you should not depend on apple that much for hardware
@@mammid9622 And the exynos 2100 is going to be even more powerful, so they might release exynos in all versions like they did with the s21
Maybe you should wait till 2025 when according to them 120hz refresh rate will become a thing like 5g this year!

Same bro. Been on Android for 10 years and apart from pixel os, literally all skins I’ve seen are terrible!
You should have returned it as soon as you noticed the issues happening. Maybe it was a defective unit.
Well it's probably that you just bought a phone with problems. Any phone could have it
Not fake, and my mom and wife all got the same model with the same problems. I really don't want to leave android but I'm going to.

One Question, are you Nate O’Brien Brother 🤔 ?
How is magsafe considered a feature?? What the hell. Magnet on the back, really. How is having to detach the phone manually from the wireless pad a difference over sticking the charger in the phone port and how is it a feature over the put it down and pick it up with no issues from a wireless pad?
There ist literally no upside as you have a big clonky plastic thing attched to your phone instead of a small cable.
But consumers are stupid.
+The cable still charges way faster. So whats the point
Wireless charging overall isn't actually a big ups. I will argue with anyone that reverse Wireless charging is way useful than Wireless charging
