We are taking the last week of our free time while drywall is installed on our main project to build a much-needed mower barn on my brothers property!
The only catch is that we want to do it as cheaply as possible so we are only using materials that we have In our possession already! There should be a super fun project and we will be using some unconventional building techniques to make the materials have work out for the project!

I really wanted to hear Jamie's reasoning on the lawnmower shed ... just to see if he convinces me that i too need a lawn mower shed. (ps i dont have a lawn)
Lol, good one!
Hmm.. never considered somebody without a lawn..
I like to see Arlo is back again in the vids. The perkins crew is back complete! Keep up the good work and pro tips :)
@@johnlebzelter4208 😂
@@johnlebzelter4208 just mixing it up with some Dutch :)
take a shot everytime these guys dry laugh
Damn, I wish I would have a professional builder crew build MY law mower shed! Lookin good guys.
It’s great! My shed has been completed and it turned out nice looking and sturdy and it is way better than the sheds that many of my neighbors had put up. Of course, I'm pleased with the outcome and this Ryan’s ruclips.net/user/postUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans was extremely useful to me as a guide.
What I find amazing is that you were able to surround yourself with good friends, employees and family to do this. THAT is becoming a rare event. Enjoy it, savor it, appreciate it. Love all your vids. HGTV is boring af compared to you guys ;-)
I swear, but every time Jamie drops a quick quip I’m smiling how all the stuff he learned in high school is still being used on the job.
“It’s all about they hypotenuse.”
Remarkable.
If possible, I'd love a kinda miniseries format of Jamie explaining stuff. I love hearing his explanations and listening to him share his knowledge.
I talk as much as Erik will let me…
From what I know, bob's and strings are faster but that template will be accurate throughout the whole build going up. Hell yea Perkins!
G,day Perkins Bros from Sydney Australia.
Bags of concrete and cement.
Use shovel and cut the bag in half on ground. Lift up and cut paper/plastic of remaining bag.

That's a good boy for sticking up for his Dad! 🤙🏼
This video has inspired me to build my own lawnmower shed. I live in a high rise building with a small balcony. It won’t be very big shed but at least I’ll have a place to store my new lawnmower that I’ll never use.😂
I like that..!
Just like Norm A. "just build a jig" absolutely love it!!!
Love watching the Perkins family and crew work together. I especially like to see scrap material being used to build a useful personal project. I hate seeing all the scrap material that gets hauled off from most new construction when there are so many useful pieces that can be saved and used later.
I love the Larry Hahn references. The man was a legend.
This episode is the perfect mix of chaotic organization and building. love this.
This guys taught me how to do stairs an easy way thank you guys
This is my favourite project so far !
Hey Arlo 👋, you're back in action with the Crew. This is a young man that let's his work do the talking for him. Enjoying any builds the Perkin boy's do. It's great to see your Dad work with you all. Great tips Jamie. 🙏👍
Thanks!
My hubby & I built our Grands a 2-story playhouse, & that's how we did it -built a template for the perfect square, because we built it at an angle in our back yard - so much fun - climbing wall to get into it, + steps & a slide. Love your videos! 👍✨️ We also built a swing set, bigger climbing wall, monkey bars & "duck blind" ❤️
I love that quick pic spoiler in the beginning .... further along than where I saw it. Super excited to see how it looks in the end and all the fun in every video along the way. Thanks again for each and every delight of a vid.
Good work and calculations !! LOL!! Good to see Arlo 👀 👌 👍 😀
Very much enjoyed the "Free Barn Build" My dad built a "Free Shed" 13 ft x 30 ft, to park a camper trailer in when I was in Jr High school 62 years ago and it still is standing. The structure was built from Eastern Red Cedar timbers, heavy angle iron brackets and cedar shake shingles. My Dad, brother and I built this shed with timbers logs 10" to 13" in Dia. and boy did we learn a lot. We even cut the trees with a cross cut saw (I still have) and trimmed each log with an ax.
We also sided a garage with green freshly cut oak boards full 1 " thickness and nailed them tightly together with framing nails. 8 months later we came back with green batten boards to cover up the 1/2" to 3/4" gap from the oak drying. Each nail we drove into the dried oak had to be drilled before driving home.
Enjoy your projects. By the way I am a "Retired High School Teacher". Heavy on the "RETIRED"!
Lol I totally tried the slow motion thing and Jamie still sounded like a drunk squirrel. Funny though.
i already watched all 36 episodes of mountain home! very interesting man! now i want to all your videos! keep it up!
This is gonna be a good bit of work but I absolutely LOVE this idea! This is how things used to be built in the country not so long ago. It's amazing how often I find old oak beams in a renovation I'm doing that were from an old barn on said property or near it.
Thanks Mike!!
I got a length from a massive barn beam when the barn was renovated into apartments. The complete beam was 3ftx2ftx20ft and hewn from a single yellow pine, the growth rings on this thing are incredibly tight too.
Old growth timber is something else, this pine is as dense as oak.
Back to what you do best, Building from scratch👏🏻! Look forward to the progress
Y’all’s skill in filmmaking is getting really good. Good work fellas
I did this with my lawn mower shed. I bought screws and gang nails, but that's all. Love it.
Love Jamie's Bla Bla Bla, I have all day and it makes me laugh. I also love comparing you guys to RR Buliding and seeing the different styles of build
LOVED IT! I was sure Jamie was going to break out the sexton to get it in the right location 😂 I actually frowned when the end snuck up on me. That's how you know it was a great video (as always)!
this is one of my favorite ones so far.
This reminds me of the good ole days when dad would say “ let’s go play with some tools” no codes to worry about. But somehow always turned into a pro build 😊
Hand built shed is on my to do list... after the octagon firepit swing set, deck roof extension and side garage lean to roof storage area... man I hope lumber prices drop a bit!
Hilarious!!!!! This is what happens when contractors decide to build a shed for themselves. They know too much about what can go wrong if you cut corners so they OVER compensate. By the looks of things you could accommodate a lawnmower that weighs about 4 to 5 tons. As usual lots of joking around, laughter, excellent BACKGROUND music, top drawer videoing and precise work. Can't wait to see the rest of the build. BTW Jamie are you installing in floor heating?
Ha, I guess we did go a little overboard… that doesn’t bother me though:)
Thanks again guys. You can’t even think of how much this video’s means for me. Stay strong everyone. Cheers!
Hiya! Building Brothers!
Try to use an SDS drill on chisel mode on small concrete forms! Works a real treat! 🇬🇧👋
I never cease to be amazed at Jamie's ideas.
I look forward to seeing this barn come to life!
You have way toooooo much fun while working! Would love to be part of the crew!
Good job guys! Keeping me entertained on my down time at the hospital! Hurry with the next one. Lol 👍🏼🇺🇸
You guys are fun to watch
13:54 What is dad Perkins thinking? Probably something like: are they going to keep on talking to their phone or are they actually also going to DO it like I learned them... 🙂 Thanks for the tip on the forms for the piers Jamie, it gave me some ideas for a future project that is off grid with no easy access for concrete trucks...
It is fun hanging out with Dad on the build… he has plenty of ideas for us…
Pin nailing corner trim pieces in the inside corners of the pier forms would lend a nice touch. Commercial builders do that
Chamfer
Another great day out there and another cool project for the channel! Hope U gents have a perfect week this week
Eric, those are ditch shovels for when your in a ditch and need a short handle👍
Here's what I would have done to level the boxes to each other. Have your box in its set position (not leveled but spaced correctly), and suspended with 4 steaks (like you have now, but fully suspended) then you can drive the stakes in the ground and level as necessary (Side to side, front to back, footer to footer)
Perk' never misses! You have so many projects going at the same time
I love watching people in generally warm climates build stuff. They never once mention the frost line... lol. Like frost line whats that. Lol.
Up here in the north its a whole different story.
Nothing like digging 54" deep holes by hand, lol
Man, that looks like a fun project!!
Love the fancy lawn mower shed! Could be a hangout spot too
Why does that "Ag Building" have couches and a beer tap?
@@chrisbarr1359 Because agriculture is hard work!
YES! YES! YES! I've been waiting on something like this on the channel. I'm ecstatic for this build. I'm interested on how this will turn out.
Spoiler… it turned out Amazing!

Seeing you on this channel, I know I can literally talk with you for ages about construction work for years. You and the crew just permeate knowledge everywhere you all go. I'm using all of the knowledge you and other channels give to build the next house I desire to build. Everyone, keep up the outstanding work and I appreciate you all allowing us the opportunity to keep building with you all. God bless.
I love building stuff out of scrap. Great content showing how it can be done well.
This is going to be something to see, can't wait for the next video! LOL
I take it the windows haven't come in for the last house yet.
You guys are funny.
God bless.
This was a fun video to watch🙂👍🏼
sheeeesh jamies property looks amazing, im envious
Just wanted to drop in as a long time viewer and say I love your vids and please keep em comin! Thanks!
You Guy's have all the fun, oh and Let Jaime Talk!!! ; )
Great idea for the concrete forms.
Going to be a corker this build. A lot of people can relate to this build. Cheers boys 🍺👌🇦🇺
A big thanks to Jamie. My favorite word is now DANG!!!
Ha!
Great video! Love watching your channel. Super knowledgeable group of guys. You may find this helpful. If I did not set grade on footers, then I’ll set my forms tall and then nail chamfer with a laser on desired elevation. Or I’ll just pour using rotary laser. This way I don’t have to cut forms. May want to reuse them, or just save time.
Hey man, I like Jamie's comments about squares and math and reasoning. If others don't like it they can skip 😂
Love the idea
Super fun project! I love everything you guys do! I also build things from leftover material from my other builds. Saves me a ton of money😃👍🏻
Some super great ideas in this video - keep up the good work.
Thank you
nice, I've been trying to work out how to do similar forms for a tree house I'm building 👍
When I built my unattached 2nd garage I added 20’ on the end for Lawn equipment and bikes and now that my kids are all grown and out on their own I have only my bike in there with my other outdoor equipment
love it!!
These kind of projects are fun, you can think outside the box, nothing matters, and there’s no responsibility.
This should be fun to watch
When is the mountain cabin going to continue? Looking forward to seeing the completion.
We are back on it now! Videos coming soon
Should have added chamfer pieces to your forms! Lookin good tho!
I've never seen a shed/barn built on a slopped hill. I built a shed in my backyard but the ground was close to level so it was much easier to build. Thanks for explaining why you are building it the way you are. I keep learning from you guys.
Another great video guys , they never disappoint and I always learn something, keep em coming god bless
Olá, sou do Brasil e vejo todos os vídeos, moro no Rio de Janeiro, gosto muito da equipe de trabalho.
Man Jamie got a sweet piece of property there. Oh how I miss the the country living.😊
don’t want poison ivy problems - scrub up w/a rag n some dawn n fast orange just like you got some mechanic grease on you. Wash up good and you shouldn’t have any issues. Gotta get that oil off your skin right away.
Love your work 👍
Watching from Greensboro NC. As always great material and fun...
Jamie welding with his nail bags on is awesome
Would levelling the box left to right have the potential to throw your centre line off?
Really neat video idea!
A new Work is to make. Jamie on the Hunt of Millimeter. That all is Exact in the Planing. All make Jamie's Dictation however. A very good Video from the whole Team 👍📏📐🪓🔨

If you "must" fast foreward, keep it in the end so we can hear it all:)
Love seeing this build and all the details 👍
Having plans to build a shed myself and these concrete form tricks is nice to know 😁
Awesome to see Arlo in a WoodenBoat shirt. Has he or anyone on the crew done much boatbuilding?
For sure… Arlo is an expert boat builder.also Jono has also worked on yachts for years..
Thanks!
I’m going to love this series👏🏻❤️🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧💕jane
the fast forwarding was great!!😁
I’m loving these videos! You guys look like you’re having way too much fun! Wish I was there but watch out for the poison ivy!!👍👍👍😎🇨🇱. Can hardly wait to see you the next one👍
Another great Video Love your Videos makes my day Beautifull. Day love Sheds I got a Big Shed it’s 4,00am I’m Having my Coffee and watching you guys Cheers from Australia 👍👍👍👍💪💪💪😁😀😎❤️🪚🪓🔨🪜🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🍺
Good video boys looking forward 👌
Why do I need a lawnmower shed? I will never know 😂 #letjaimetalk
Comment, Jamie's build, so he can talk as much as he wants. Love it.
Can you use tires as concrete forms? I know it will take a lot but I have a lot of old tires
What's up fellas Happy Sunday
Always great content from the Perkins Crew! What app (iPhone) do you guys use to edit your videos? Are you still just using iPhones to record? Thanks guys!!
Erik edits on a iPads now. Video leap is the software
Perkins Builder Brothers,
This reminds me of a Barn built on side of a mountain outside of Boone, on the way toward Blowing Rock. It was called “Mystery Hill” where water runs “Uphill”. Don’t know if it is still there but it was back in mid 70’s. I think it is close to “Tweetsie Railroad”.
Check out “Celebrating Appalachia” channel. They are close to Yall in Brasstown, NC. Their daughters have channel: “The Pressley Girls”.
Oh yeah, better order windows and doors- guess they will be stick built by Yall.
Thank Yall for these videos‼️
Good job sir.. keepsafe 👏 shouout
