So glad I found you and your videos. I never touched the dulcimer that given to me by a cousin. I decided at age 78 I was going to dust it off and learn to play. Couldn’t have stuck with it without your videos. Love the fact you recognize a beginner and take us step by step. Bless you!

I am a visual learner so your video was absolutely on target for me as I have not played an instrument in over 50 years! Your approach is relaxed, not intimidating, encouraging & I just played my first song! I am going to try a new video every 2 or 3 days while practicing in between. Thank you for bringing joy back to me through music! Blessings to you, too!

Thank you! I bought my dulcimer around about 25 years ago in Tennessee, raised my kids and worked, never spent much time on it. Kept it in the case and on the wall for a while. Now, safe at home under stay at home order in Colorado during Covid 19, I am finding peace figuring out how to play it! Thank. you so much for your help!!!

Learning dulcimer is one of my goals for this year. I checked several youtube lesson videos and yours is hands down the best! You break it down so a beginner can get it. I also appreciated you starting right off teaching a simple song to make me feel like I'm making progress right of the bat. My husband is a professional multi instrumentalist and he appreciated you starting right off with using a metronome. He says there are allott of talented players who can't play with a band because they've always played alone and their time is bad. Thank you for the lessons. Can't wait for the next one.

I’m thrilled to have found you. I’ve had my dulcimer for several years and had decided that I would have to settle for being the audience (someone has to, right). I even tried lessons and the instructor spent my time talking politics and religion and I felt like I was just too dumb so he gave up. I’m 76 years old and today I removed my old strings, cleaned my fretboard, put on the new strings and played Mary had a little lamb. All thanks to you. I’m thrilled and keep up the good work. God bless you too!

I've had my dulcimer for 29 years and have been afraid to try playing. My dulcimer was bought on a special trip to Berea, Ky with my sister. We both bought hand made dulcimers together for a little shop downtown Berea all those years ago. While we are trapped inside with the corona virus days I decided to try looking up "how to play a dulcimer" on you tube. After whipping through many folks trying to teach a very new beginner, I almost gave up when I popped up your video. Thank God I did . I'm an elementary teacher and loved the way you enthusiatically congratulated me on having a dulcimer. You were excited and got me excited. Thank you, thank you, thank you for going so slow and teaching me as a person who had never even held my dulcimer. I love to sing and love music and you have inspired me. You are a gifted music teacher!!
I love hymns so if you want to throw in one on a later lesson, it would be great. I have a suggestion....I'm not sure what to call your lessons. I guess I type in Mountain Dulcimer Lesson 3. huh?

Hey Earnie, glad you didn’t give up! Thanks for the kind words. Yeah I don’t know what to call them either. Haha. You can also just click on my Channel - the name banjo lemonade under the video. Then click on Playlist and go to Mountain Dulcimer Lessons. You can do it!! Keep up the work. I have Do Lord on there as a beginner lesson.

Truly the best super beginner video out there. I haven't played an instrument since elementary school (I'm 36). One day I was jamming out to Joni Mitchells Blu album and was seduced by the sound of the dulcimer so I found one on craigslist in 2015. Never found a great beginner video so it sat in the case for 5 years until today! The pandemic has given me time to dedicate to this delightful instrument and I just learned to play my first song in about 2 hours. Thank you so much!! I will visit your Patreon page for sure. Peace+Love. Namaste.

You asked for feedback, so even though it's 6 months later, I will say I love your teaching style. It feels like learning from a friend, and it is helpful to me. I got my grandmother's dulcimer fixed up this week, and I've been here almost exclusively learning how to play. I have some musical background, but I can't read music. I really want to learn how to play the old folk songs and hymns from my Baptist upbringing on it the most, so I can sing with my kids and future grandkids one day.

Absolutely great to this beginner beginner. Metronome helpful. Easy to follow Definitely I need more. Also being a senior I'm a slow learner

Hi Mandy, I just finished watching this video and am enjoying my new Dulcimer. I think I need to get a better tuner because even though I was able to play along with this lesson, it sounded a little off. I will practicing strumming this week. Thank you. Great lesson!

I think this is going to help me. Strumming and keeping time is the hardest part for me. I can read music a little ... the counts of the notes, not the names (at least without figuring them out). Please keep the lessons coming!

Thank you for these videos!! I purchased my dulcimer several years ago while on vacation in Tennessee. I purchased 3 different "You can play the dulcimer" books and tried to learn that way. I got frustrated, put it up on the shelf and hadn't touched it since. Happened upon one of your videos and thought I'd give it another try. I love your teaching style and being able to watch someone actually playing is so helpful. I am determined to stick with it! How Do I find Patreon? By the way, Jesus loves you too!!! :) Found Patreon!!
