To get hairspray on all my clumps, I add some hairspray to my hands and apply it like any styler and scrunch it in. Really helps to get that hard hold in all layers.

To get volume at the roots, use a pick after you put all your products in and run it through the top of your hair from the roots giving it a lift. It works for me.

You’re probably the only creator I’ve seen that has my exact hair type (but I’m brunette). My hair is fine strand but high density, easily crimped or flattened, If I don’t style my hair curly and just use leave-in, it’s curly for a few hours then turns wavy and fluffy, almost as if I styled my hair into a blowout. If I style curly and air dry without curly girl method (not sopping wet hair), I get tiny curls. If I do curly girl method (wet hair, squish in leave in, micro plop, then add curl cream+gel and diffuse), then the texture is just like yours. I think I have a mixture of 2b to 3a depending on the curl clump.

This may sound crazy but this is the way I get the best curls. I do all the prep like you taught but then I let it air dry for about 30 minutes then I drive to work with my car heater blowing directly at my hair. My drive to work is 45 minutes or so and by the time I get to work it’s almost completely dry. I finish it off by putting the top of my head close to the heater when I get to work and scrunch out the crunch 😂 I’ve never had good luck with diffusing with a blow dryer though. It gets too puffy and my curls start looking squarish and weird.

I’ve really struggled with my curly wavy hair since I had it chopped and highlighted (but fighting the grey is too hard, so it’s staying lighter!). Your videos have really helped! I had never considered putting product on BEFORE towelling the hair, it just seemed mental to me, like the towel would just take it all off and what a waste that would be - and we know that curly wavy products always have the curl tax making them so much more expensive! But it works so well, and you demonstrate it so clearly it was easy to follow. My hair is now super bouncy curly and I don’t have to deal with ‘straw’ any more. Thank you.

I have realized that I can not put my stylers on soaking wet hair. Even though I use enough the water is just too heavy to hold my waves, even with plopping. I wrap my hair after washing and conditioning in my hair care towel, get dressed, and then take my hair down. If it is too dry I will add just a wee bit of water with my hands to hear a slight squishing sound and add my stylers, hover diffuse (but not upside down, bad back) and then pixie diffuse. I leave it in the cast for about an hour and then I SOTC and fluff. Never the same results twice but it is what works for me.

    • @sighingzephyr
      @sighingzephyr 10 месяцев назад +2

Same here! So many people were adamant that product needed to be applied to soaking wet hair that it’s what I did from the beginning with very stretched out results. Now that I’m applying product on damp hair I get actual ringlets, longer lasting effects, and compliments too!

Hello Courtney, I just started 6 weeks ago to help my hair, which had been blow-dried straight for years, return to its natural wavy shape. And I quickly began to love your refreshing, lively manner and easy-to-implement techniques (even in stressful everyday life with a job and children). Unfortunately, despite Hover Diffusing and Pixie Diffusing, I struggle a lot with frizz. My second problem is that I have really thick curl clumps when it's wet, but the drier the hair gets, the more they fall apart. Can you maybe give me a tip about this?

Thank you Courtney, your video is very helpful! My waves/curls are a little tighter than yours but not spirals either. I take tips from so many great channels like yours and others to incorporate into my routine. I use a diffuser and start with the ends, similar to your routine and hold the diffuser on low heat/air for about 2-3 minutes a section. I then go back and do more of the pixie diffuse against my roots but I will try to hold it farther away for more even trying next time.

I just received an order from Prose, and it's custom to my hair. They'll tweak it as I use it and leave feedback. I tried it for the first time yesterday when I received it, and I put some leave in conditioner after shampooing and conditioning and I only scrunched a little and I had spiral type waves popping in the bottom third of my hair. I didn't know I had wavy hair until recently because I was always told it was straight. I wonder if I can find a natural bond repair for my hair so I can repair the damaged bonds I very likely have. Thank you very much for this video.

Have you considered a coaching session where someone watches your wash day routine and gives you tips to improve your technique? I don’t know anyone who offers this, but I am sure some professionals do. Even a curl friend could help. Barring that, you could consider setting up a tripod and taking a video of your routine, compare each step to what you see on screen with different curl influencers, and analyze your own technique. This advice assumes that the issue is technique. If it’s not your methodology, then it might be your hair since medications, illnesses, hormones, and age can all change curl pattern and hair health. Best wishes to you!

So, as my hair has gone wavy curly after menopause, and it's dense but thin baby hair ... that's 60% Silver to 40% dark ash blonde, this is what I've found.
I need a clarifying shampoo if I'm going to use product, and the product actually makes my hair feel gross because I have baby hair.
I'm working on how much my hair will take so that I don't over-use product.
If I don't use product, my wash lasts for 3 days without being greasy. I refresh any curls/waves with a salt spray.
If I use my Wella nutricurls system, I have to use the Kinky Curl shampoo at my nape because it gets so greasy.
So, I have to use the regular shampoo daily, and I can only get 2 days out of that and my ends are totally fried even though I let it air dry.
I then use the conditioning shampoo. Rinse, and then use the kinky curly clarifying shampoo only on my nape because conditioner makes my hair SO greasy.
It's way more work than I want to put into my hair.
There HAS to be something that will allow me to wash my hair completely and NOT have to add hundreds of dollars worth of product to so that it looks naturally great.
This is the first time, ever, in my life, that I've had wavy/curly hair (the longer it grows, the more ringlets I get). I have NO idea what to do to make it look it's best with minimal work be cause I'm not willing to spend hundreds of dollars on product or more than 15 minutes of styling.
I want my hair to be it's best in whatever way it can be as naturally as it can be.
    Suggestions?

As it turns out, we have hair in common ❤ I just use Tresemme products. Honestly, I only use 2 products. Conditioning shampoo and mousse. I use the extra firm mousse for both hold and volume. I use my diffuser, but only drying the roots of my hair. In winter, I use a bathroom heater to speed dry hair without losing curl. I do brush or wide tooth comb the mousse through wet hair for equal dispersion. It doesn’t have to be a 20 step process. You can have money, a life, and great hair! ❤

I’m having issues with my products not working as well as they used to. I’ve noticed that with not your mother’s stylers my hair seizes, but it holds curl. But with the As I Am leave in makes my hair super wavy but can’t get it to hold the wave with Tresemme heavy hold gel(it worked once after I babied it). Can you add a link to your haircut? I'm still looking for a cut that gives good curls on washday and doesn't give me a triangle look on day 2

Thank you so much. I've been following you for a while now. My hair is a lot like yours, fine, but lots of it with waves and a few curls!

Finally….i found someone with my hair type. It’s so confusing having “fluffy straight hair” one wash day and super wavy/curly hair the next wash day lol (if I don’t brush my hair)

Sadly I haven't had good luck with the Briogeo gel. It seems with my hair, the gel dries too fast and my curls don't form as well. I really wanted this gel to work because I thought the protein would be good for my hair. Anybody have tricks on how to use this?

Sorry to hear that! Maybe put a curl cream underneath it and see if that helps?

So I wake up 2nd or 3rd day, and my hair looks like Beethoven or John Brown! Frizzy and sticking straight out. What even is going on all of a sudden? My hair gal did a B vitamin treatment last time. Freshly styled it looks GREAT, but fresh out of a pineapple or silk bonnet it's terrifying!

It sounds like your hair type is more like mine then hers.
I stay away from anything that will dry my hair like alcohol in gels, moose so I don't intentionally cast.
I found a biotin and keratin shampoo I use and I use argan mask conditioner though a light macadamia works too.
I use a heat spray despite not blow drying with oil while wet.
I oil my mids and ends lightly with argan before capping in silk about every three days.
Your hair sounds like it needs moisture.
The above stopped the frizz, I keep the soft curls and if I want style, I dampen with heatless curls over night.
I only wash every seven days and my hair below mid back.
      Hope some help to you.

Oh wow, it sounds like you're experiencing quite the hair adventure! The Beethoven/John Brown visual gave me a giggle, but I totally get that it can be frustrating to deal with unexpected frizz and flyaways. It's interesting that this started happening after the B vitamin treatment. Since it looks great freshly styled, perhaps it's about finding the right overnight protection method that works for your hair's new condition. Have you considered adjusting how tight your pineapple is or trying a different type of silk bonnet? Sometimes, a little tweak in the routine can make all the difference.

I don’t know why it never occurred to me to do the wash at night and sleep in the gel cast- this might work for me!

That's what I do, I find the cast breaks itself overnight (it's in a pineapple and a bonnet) which is helpful sometimes. I do think it helps

I think cheaper products do the job. Native is good. Pure zero too.

This is too much work. I choose to be ok with looser waves.

Way to many steps for this curly haired lady:). I just wash/condition upside down, leave it in a towel for 20 min., then take it out, put in any type of curly product for styling and defuse.
